Open-ended competition for a contract to design the image for the newest extreme sport! After a logo is selected, Banshee Riverboards will choose a designer to design vehicle wraps, banners for whitewater festivals/Xgames, tradeshow booths, brochures, dvd's, apparel, and more.

Let me introduce you to the company that is revolutionizing the board sports industry, Banshee Riverboards. Banshee is excited to introduce an entirely new board sport called Bansheeboarding that is quickly becoming the newest and hottest summer water sport activity.

How does it work? One end of our bungee hooks to any rock or tree on shore, and the other end hooks into a Bungee-Surfboard. The river current pulls the rider downstream and stretches the bungee over 200 feet. Once the bungee is fully stretched it recoils pulling the rider upstream at speeds over 30 miles per hour. After 200 feet the bungee releases from the board allowing the rider to free ride upstream, pull tricks like ollies, shove-it's, etc., and even catch and surf standing river waves. Once the board slows down the rider floats downstream, grabs the bungee, then re-hooks and repeats.

Recently Banshee riverboards has been featured in publications like Men’s Health, Blonde, The New York Times, Sports Illustrated and also multiple news outlets on both radio and TV. The banshee riverboard system also won The 2006 ISPO Brand New Coolmax® Hardware Summer Award. Industry giants including DuPont judged the riverboard as the best new summer hardware product out of 200 brand new products from around the world.

What type of product or service do you offer?
Completely new board sport that doesn't require an expensive boat or gas! Bungee technology accelerates the rider twice as fast as a boat and speeds up to 30 MPH are possible. Riders can do all the skateboard tricks and surf standing waves in the river.

How long have you been in business?
3 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Build an extreme sports brand.

What are your long term goals?
Create a completely new competitive sport with Xgames appeal (similiar to what Burton Snowboards did 15 years ago).

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
May 5, revisions need to be complete by May 7.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Here are a few very good logos that I like: Spyder, Dodge Ram, Denver Bronco.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
White/Blue (because of the river) - for dark backgrounds, black for light backgrounds. I also like red. Black/red really pops out as does white/blue. This design is open ended, so pick whatever colors you think work best.


Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I want to build an new Banshee legend around the company.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Speed and excitement. Bansheeboarding is like the drag racing version of wakeboarding, twice as fast as a boat! This is a new extreme sport.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Bansheeboarding

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

Where will your new logo be used?
On boards, bungee systems, packaging, T-shirts, hats, catalogs, website, accessory products, Toyota FJ Cruiser vehicle wrap (vehicle is blue), TV, newspaper, magazines, river-side banners, tradeshow booth

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
We are creating a new market so competitors are now kayak companies and wakeboard companies (alternative summer water sports).

What sets you apart from your competitors?
No boat, no gas, 2 times as much speed and adrenaline

Both of these posts are great! I would like the Banshee to be more mystical and a little more unisex. There are also other creatures associated with the Banshee, take a look at this post:

Other images associated with the Banshee are a hooded crow, stoat, hare, and weasel - animals associated with witchcraft in Ireland.

A hooded crow that was somewhat human would be interesting. I think it is important that any logo is something people can form feelings for.

Hi,

After looking a the mythology of the banshee I’ve gone for a tribal logomark that captures a goatlike quality that could have a backstory, something like what was done with “The Blair witch project” and the stickman logo (that was pure genius).

The horns of the goat represent the wake thrown out by the board as it cuts thought the water at 30MPH.The headline font is slightly stepped to give the sense of speed.
