I am designing a logo for my new website. The website will showcase independent music, retail fashion and other lifestyle topics. The name of the site is verbalrinse.com

I am looking for some design ideas for the text 'verbalrinse', which will be my logo. The sole idea that I have come up with is a black background with orange text in a 'tube-type' font. I am open to different retro and modern ideas and am curious to see your designs.

The vibe of the site will be urban, edgy, bold and artistic.

Anthony

P.S. Kaimere, I liked some of your text designs and am curious to see your spin on this.

Thanks Freetime.

I like the glossy effect on the first example. I'd like to see verbalrinse in more of an old school, circular tubey type font without the italicized slant. I'm also open to seeing other colors. As for the tagline, I'd like to change that up a bit to 'fluidLogos'. The word Logos in this case refers to the dictionary definition relating to philosophy. I'd like to have 'fluidLogos' merged together with the word 'Logos' differentiated in some creative way. It could be a different color, different font type. Also, the font of the tagline does not have to match the font of the logo. I'd like to see some other fonts that would make the whole presentation more unique.

Thanks,
Anthony

Awesome job Jennifer. The font for verbalrinse in V1 is dead on. If you could incorporate a few enhancements, the logo will be be perfect.

First, I'd like to see the glossy effect applied to 'verbalrinse'. Next, I'd like to see the lighter orange color from V2 applied to 'rinse' in V1. Instead of the circular shape in the background, I'd like to see the symbol for the astrological sign Aquarius. It would be great if the waves of the symbol could be angled in such a way as to allow some sort of bordering effect on some of the letters, as shown on 'v' and 'e' (beginning) and 'n' and 'e' (end) in V1.

Finally, I'd like to reduce the font size for 'fluidLogos' to fit on the top right side of 'verbalrinse' between the dot over the 'i' and the 'e' at the end. Sort of the way it's shown in V3. I would also like to see some sort of difference on the word 'Logos'. Maybe a different color, font style, etc. to make the word stand out a bit.

Thanks very much for your work thus far.

Hi Anthony,

Thanks for the feedback; here are revisions.

v5

Great work Jennifer. I'd like to see the color fading line in 'verbalrinse' go straight across instead of sloped. Once that's done could you apply the glossy effect to the top half of 'verbalrinse', including the black bordering around the letters? I like the first example in Freetime's V1.

Regarding the background image, could you add [3] thick, black individual wavy lines instead of one big block wave? I'd also like to see how the logo looks with no background image.

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

I apologize; I forgot I told you I'd have those revisions ready. Will post them as soon as I get back tonight.

Hi Anthony,

Is this OK for the waves? I still have to do the shiny effect.

They have to be really high and close in order to have 3 of them and still keep the word extending beyond that boundary.

Hey Jennifer,

I don't see any new images. Did you post new stuff?

Here are the changes I wanted to see:

I'd like to see the color fading line in 'verbalrinse' go straight across instead of sloped. Once that's done could you apply the glossy effect to the top half of 'verbalrinse', including the black bordering around the letters? I like the first example in Freetime's V1.

Regarding the background image, could you add [3] thick, black individual wavy lines instead of one big block wave? I'd also like to see how the logo looks with no background image

Thanks,
Anthony

I must've forgotten to attach it.

If the background version is OK, I can add the shine and then do one w/o the bg.

baynative
05-07-2007, 09:54 AM
This looks really good. Could I see the bg without the thick black border? I like the waves but since verbalrinse has the thick border, I think having it in the bg is too much.

Hi Jennifer,

Looking at V5, I'd like to see the color fading line in 'verbalrinse' go straight across instead of sloped. I also like the two orange colors in verbalrinse and the way fluidLOGOS is positioned in white letters from V5. I’d like to see the glossy effect added to the top half of 'verbalrinse', including the black bordering around the letters. I like the first example from Freetime's V1.

If you could apply these changes, the actual logo will be done. Regarding the background image, I like V7 but would like to see a border around the wavy lines. Maybe a border half as wide as the one from V6. Please also add the trademark symbol to verbalrinse, maybe to the bottom right of the ‘e’. Finally, I’d like to see how the logo looks with all of the changes listed above and no background image

Thanks,
Anthony

Hi Anthony,

Again, I can do the "shine", no problem, BUT we need to get the actual design set first. I don't use transparency and manually cut and color the segments, so once that's done, it's impossible to edit the width of the border/size of the background without basically re-drawing it.

If this is OK, we can do the shine.

I have shown two examples. On the first one, as you'll see, the length of the background will not accomodate "fluidLogos" in the old position. I lengethened the background on the 2nd one to place it where you want it.

v9

baynative
05-10-2007, 08:22 AM
Ok, thanks for clearing this up Jennifer. Let's go with v9. I no longer want the wavy line background at all. The verbalrinse logo is fine.

Two minor changes, instead of fluidLogos I'd like to have 'aintnuthinsweet' go along the bottom of 'verbalrinse' beginning on the left side. This will all be one word and I'd like it to stretch from the 'v' to the low slope of the 'n' in 'verbalrinse'. I'd like the colors for 'aint' in red, 'nuthin' in white and 'sweet' in blue. And please move the trademark symbol up to the top right side of 'verbalrinse'.

I believe this will complete the design then we can move on to the shine and the two orange colors for 'verbalrinse'.

Thanks again, it really looks good.

v10

Here you go.

One question: you indicated red, white and blue...do you want that line backed in black? Otherwise the white won't show. I left it orange and black for the time being.

baynative
05-14-2007, 11:21 AM
Yes, I'd like to see the red, white and blue lined in black. And could you use a font with more "pop"? Something more creative that looks less plain and more connected together to create the feel of one word? Also, the glossy effect looks more faded than shiny but it may not be finished yet?

Overall, I think you've designed a great logo.

Thanks,
Anthony

Jennifer, I've updated my previous post to hopefully be more clear as to the changes I'd like to see on the logo.

Hi Anthony,

Here's the next revision.

With the unusual/unique font for the text, I'd recommend a more "subdued" tagline font or else you somewhat dilute the logo text effect IMO. But whatever you decide is fine.

Hey Jennifer, I've attached a picture of the font i want for 'aintnuthinsweet'. If you could match the font type for the word 'AVIREX' (in caps) and add the worn or tattered effect? Also, it could be a bit smaller.

The first iteration of the logo you listed is awesome.

BlueCherryGraphics
05-15-2007, 08:18 PM
That's probably custom-designed and I can't copy it, but here's something similar...is this what you had in mind?

baynative

LUV IT! RED, WHITE AND BLUE...AND WE'RE DONE. The first iteration of 'verbalrinse' is the one..it looks 3 deminsional.
