Howdy,
I am posting for a business card design $65.
This will be printed in color
a brochure design- trifold- doublesided $150
This will be printed in color. No pricing should be listed on this one.
an advertisement $100
horizontal size with an ad page of 4.750" x1.250"
Keep type and live matter .3750” from trim.
This dimension includes .125” all around to allow for trim
When submitting ads in PDF format: on ads with bleed, allow an
additional .5” all around from ad size (.125” bleed with crop marks added and offset by .25”). They require Quarkpress.
This will be printed in color and in black and white.
We are a petsitting business who has been in business for 12 years. We just designed our website and would now need to update our business cards, brochures and an advertisement piece.
Our website is www.happytailstucson.com. As you will note we have different locations but we are only doing upgrades on the tucson location.
I would like all three pieces to be safed in PageMaker, Quarkpress, Photoshop and Corel Draw along with their pdf files.
All three pieces should have elements of the website but the brochure and card need to complement each other. You can use other clipart, but nothing cutise or cartooney.
Your imagination is the limit! but you will need to use the logo. I am sorry I don't have vector files, so all I have is what is attached.
l check later for question to items that I haven't addressed.
Thanks-
Micha31

Hello,
I would like to develop designs for this project, but I have a few questions first.
1) For the business card and brochure, would you accept an InDesign and Illustrator document in lieu of PageMaker and Corel Draw?
2) What are the bleeds for the business card?
3) Will the business card be double sided?
4) Do you have a focus for the brochure?
5) What is the copy for the ad? Are there any discounts or incentives being offered for a call to action?
6) Who is your print provider?
7) Will the brochure be 8.5x11? What are the bleeds?
Thank you.

1) yes I would
2) What are the bleeds for the business card? - I don't have that since I dont have a printer. In the past the requirements are
3) Will the business card be double sided?- no
4) Do you have a focus for the brochure?- stating our services no pricing. should follow the website area.
5) What is the copy for the ad? Are there any discounts or incentives being offered for a call to action? no call to action. It's advertising for an event brochure. no incentives. Logo, tag line phone number, and website and with what we do:
In-your home pet care:
dog walks
pet sitting
thanks-
6) Who is your print provider? have not chosen one.
7) Will the brochure be 8.5x11? What are the bleeds? yes, it/s 8.5x11 doublesided.

I should have been more specific about when I would post, I apologize. I do most of my designing in the late late evening (EST). I hope I'm not too late.
Should you like this design, I'll be available to create the business card and ad tomorrow (late evening EST).
Brochure - Inside (http://www.bleucurrent.com/clients/do/HappyTails_Brochure_Inside.jpg)
Brochure - Outside (http://www.bleucurrent.com/clients/do/HappyTails_Brochure_Outside.jpg)
Design Notes :
I recreated the logo in vector art to compensate for the low resolution source image. It will now print crisp and clearly regardless of size.
The color scheme was derived from your website.
With dogs and cats seeming to be the primary focus of your services, I selected photos to reflect as much
The text is mostly for placeholing purposes, will update according to your direction.
Please let me know if you have any revisions, and again, I apologize for the misunderstanding regarding timing.

MIchael,
thanks for the response. The concept is fine. However here are some changes I think would be beneficial.
I liked how you incorporated the wave and color scheme, and logo from the website. However, I would prefer a white background for reading purposes. I have seen brochures that are difficult to read the print. the blue is fine as long it reproduces and is readable. many not all of the inside.
Can you do something keeping the concept but white background on the inside?
I'd like to see our website address and phone number incorportaed inside also.
please use the attached kitty (somewhere) I think it can tie it in better.
I will change verbage and maybe some different pictures.
on the outside move the black lab to the frontt or the kitty jpg attached.
Can you find a picture of an older looking dog face (senior) instead of all puppies? when I look at the mock up, I see the shadow of the panels. Do those stay or are they just placeholders?
I like the shaded logo on the background. Just make sure the dog's behind doesn'tfall into a fold and have of it is on the other side.
thanks-
Micha31

Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad to hear that the project is still open. Before I make the requested revisions, I have a few questions and comments regarding your feedback.
BACKGROUND / READABILITY :
There shouldn't be any problem with readability on the blue background. The contrast of the background and callout elements (photos/logo) on the "Inside" would suffer with a white background. This would impact the overall design negativley. I suggest the blue, but will make the adjustment if needed. Currently the body text is a 10pt font with a subtle drop shadow to boost readability. Depending on the final content, this could changed to 12pt to additionally enhance readability.
PHONE / WEBSITE :
Will do. Do you want both locations/numbers on the inside as well?
PHOTOS :
I will look for an older dog photo. The cat you've attached is only 72dpi, this will cause some blurring or pixelation when professionally printed. Do you have a non-cropped, high res version? Typically you should use images with a 300dpi resolution for printing. Is there a reason you'd prefer using this cat? Or is there a reason you'd prefer not to use the current cat images? If you can narrow it down, I'll try to find ones more to your liking.
PANEL SHADOW :
Not certain what you're referring to here. If you mean the subtle, rounded corner rectangular outlines, where most of the body text is, those are part of the design. They create depth, and provide contextual focus. On the "Outside" the folds occur directly between these elements. I'll create non-printing dotted lines for fold references in the revisions.
LOGO WATERMARK :
Right now the segments are fairly even. The front has the Dog/Cat head and chest. The back panel contains the dog's torso. The inner flap has it's tail. Where it folds will be more apparent in the revision.
CONTENT :
Are there specific sections of the site you would like included or not included? Please indicate what text should or shouldn't be used. Do you wish to include a photo of the owner?

Perhaps one of these old dogs will work? I particularly like the "Distinguished Senior" photo (Black dog against a blue sky). Let me know what you think.

You don't have to use this cat. I don't like the either of the cat pics. they don't give me "warm or fuzzy. Especially the one inside the brochure.

Hi,
Here's a submission for the brochure.
Couple of things:
*As Micha said, the existing logo isn't suitable for print due to low resolution, etc. I made a vector for use in the brochure, however, vectorizing raster images isn't a strength of mine :D so I just added new text to the vector of the dog and cat.
*Your photo was pulled from the website; if that is used in the printed piece, a high resolution image will be needed.
*I create files in Illustrator and supply in EPS, can provide PDF and export to PSD, but cannot provide the other formats mentioned.

CinVan,
Thank you for your preference, and feedback. I've collected several potential images of cats and dogs in a lightbox at iStock. Please peruse them at your leisure, and let me know which ones you prefer.
http://www.istockphoto.com/my_lightbox_contents.php?lightboxID=2112860
Also, you mentioned previously, that you would be posting some finalized content on Sunday. Is this finished yet? Knowing what to allow for in terms of placing text, is integral in the development of the layout. I will post my revisions after hearing from you regarding these issues. Thank you.

I'm having a bit of difficulty fitting all of the text in the required space at a legible font size. I already had to delete the lower left corner image on the inside, (still made room for the Sheperd though :)) If possible could you edit down some of the Services AND FAQ sections? Thanx.

Here are the revisions. For your reference, the font size for the body text of the FAQ section is 11.75 and the font size for the body text of the Services section is 10. I was trying to get them both to about 12pt, but there was still a little to much content. I look forward to your feedback.

Do you have content for the ad? Please post specific content at your earliest convenience. Also, I know it's black and white, but are greyscale (photos) allowed? Or does it need to be solid black & white? I'll be working on the business card, while waiting for your reply.

here is the response on the greyscale issue. I don't know exactly what it means.
As long as there aren't any process colors in the grey-scale we should be fine
Let me think about the card. I like the two tone, wave, the dog looks too big. perhaps smaller and add a cat (organe one)
delete Tucson,
add Professional Animal Companions

There wasn't enough room under "bed and breakfast" to reinsert the original last line, without making the font in the entire section noticeably smaller than the FAQ section. I can do that if you want, but i wanted to let you know of the caveat before making the change.

can you add the logo to the back of the card if it's not too crowded. (discreetly....)
and the brochure= What if my pet needs …away? Section (my typoo)
No changes.
Let;’s see how these changes help even out the font sizes. If you look at the on the inside all three sides seem to have different fonts. Thanks!

Hi Micha,
on the Business Cards back side.let's keep the 1st rendering w/o the logo. The print is bigger on it. That's done.
On the brochure I am wondering if we add some verbage a line or so to the third panel will that make the font smaller to even it out?
I just need to proof it and then we will be done! Let me know on the question above.

cinvan,
BC - Gotcha. I like the first one without the logo better as well, for the same reason. One other suggestion I have, is to replace "number" with "#" to allow more space for writing the actual number.
BROCHURE - Not sure what/where you mean here. Inside? Outside? I believe the text seems very even at this point. The testomonials are different sizes, but that can't be helped due to the length. Please elaborate.

I meant the panel that asks the what is my responsiblity.... that fonts looks bigger than the other two panel.. Or is it my imagination?
Let me know... IN the meantime, I will reprint it and see it again.
thanks-
on the business card good idea- replace number with #.
cinvan1121

last revision.....
outside of the brochure- all trhee panels- DONE
inside brochure- 1st panel in the overnight section add the word to after attended so it reads
attended to by a Happy Tails P.A.C.
second inside panel- under the 1st question- change the word appointment to service
That's it.....! just see if we can even out the last panel's type just a "tad" better to match the typw with the other two panels. (see the comment before these changes.

ok.
ok.
Hello, Both Palmer and I have messaged the Desiger several times thru email and private message. What we can do is a partial refund for the brochure part of the project and then you can post a new project for that amount or have it done elsewhere. Please confirm if this is how you want to move forward.
Please post if or when you might hear from the Designer. Thanks

Vickie,
I apologize for the extended delay, here is my situation. I have been dealing with pneumonia and several potentially cracked ribs due to extreme coughing fits. I apologize for any poor reflection on Design Outpost that my illness may have caused. Needless to say, I have not spent much time at the computer because of this, and my development and email time has more or less been put on hold for most of the month.
I've not been able to sit upright for a long while, so even the most trivial tasks have been very difficult. I've finished the final adjustments and have uploaded the files. Please let me know if there's anything else, and I'll take care of it as promptly as possible.

Thank you for your patience with my illness, and again I apologize for the inconvenience it has caused you.
NOTES :
The bleed and crop borders were precise in the specs the printer sent, however the interior fold lines did not contain exact placement values, only visual indicators. It's likely that the indicators are more than fine, if not, please let me know and I'll promptly adjust them. Thank you.
Regards,
