Hi Designers!
Template needed for coaching website:
URL will be: www.WarriorCoachingInternational.com
Site Name: Warrior Coaching International
Delivery Format:
PSD and HTML.
Tag Line:
Solid Foundations for Super-Achievement and Perfect Inner Peace
Color Scheme:
Text areas: white with black print.
Banner area: Reds, reddish browns or reddish purples would probably be best (but we're open to suggestion)
Menu: Down left hand side OR under banner (but not both)
Ideal Client for us:
High achievers who have to be at the top of their game: entrepreneurs, executives, athletes, professionals
Design Considerations:
- site must be attractive to women
- must appeal to entrepreneurs, executives, athletes and other high-achievers
- must project a very professional image
- must not project a "macho" approach to life
- must not give the impression it's mainly for martial artists
- must strongly accent the pursuit of inner harmony and life-balance
- must not give the impression it's 100% Asian in philosophy (some Asian imagery is necessary, however)
Possible Images:
Yin-Yang symbol
Samurai Sword (Katana) - This is MANDATORY
Person meditating (possibly wearing black belt)
Black Belt (or someone wearing one)
Tao symbol
Woman in different roles - executive, mother, meditating...
People who need peak performance, like the list above...
Philosophical Background:
This site is built on Warriorship as an approach to life found worldwide (Buddhism, Taoism, Eastern Orthodox Christianity, Indigenous peoples of the Americas, etc.) and used both by warriors who fought battles and by spiritual seekers.
The site will educate clients in the training secrets used by these traditions to obtain amazing results in all areas of life.
Looking forward to your submissions :)

Hi,
Interesting project, I hope I didn't go over the edge with designing this.
Let me know what you think.
View in browser (http://work.matude.com/warrior/index.html)
By the way, what are the deliverables you require? Psd only or html as well?
Thanks,
Matude

Hello
The header I have in mind. Do you like it? Shall I continue in such direction or better start from the beginning?

Hi DSR,
Can you please let us know if you require PSD only or PSD+HTML?
Thanks! :D
Project Update: The project deadline has been extended to June 7th and the Client will be posting feedback. Please reread the project summary since they will be updating that as well. Thank you

Hi Matude,
Thanks for your submission - very inventive!
What works well: The Tao character at the bottom, the plant at the bottom.
What I would suggest:
1. Check the design criteria - I've modified them slightly (and yes, we'd like PSD and html).
2. The "roof" concept you have may not work - I don't want to give the impression that this is based exclusively on Asian philosophy, and the Oriental roof kind of implies that.
3. We do need a Samurai Sword (Katana) in the design somewhere, whether as the "I" in "International" or elsewhere.
4. Having 3 figures - one meditating, one at work and one in some demanding athletic pursuit - seems to work best. I would suggest the best way is to have 2-3 of them female, and probably in the "header" part itself.
5. In retrospect, the menu is probably better down the left hand side.
I look forward to your next rendition, if you're still game ;-)

Hi,
Thank you for your feedback.
I'm afraid I love this design way too much to change it that dramatically, so I've decided to remove it from the competition.
I'd however still like to join, if I may, with another design.
Something more appropriate, that has room for images etc.
So yes, I'm still in the game, just not with this design : )
Thanks

Hi Aliska,
Thanks for your design - you're on the right track!
What works well: The 3 women - at work, meditation and athletics - works very well as a concept (more below).
The Tao character is a nice touch.
What doesn't work: Putting the menu in the header; the font used for "Warrior Coaching International".
What I would suggest:
1. Check the design criteria - I've modified them slightly (and yes, we'd like PSD and html).
2. The color scheme you're using may not work (we need more vivid colors), and "coloring" the people on the left and right sides of the header may not help.
3. We do need a Samurai Sword (Katana) in the design somewhere, whether as the "I" in "International" or elsewhere.
4. Having 3 figures as you do - one meditating, one at work and one in some demanding athletic pursuit - seems to work best. I would suggest the best way is to have 2-3 of them female, and probably in the "header" part itself.
6. In retrospect, the menu is probably better down the left hand side.
I look forward to your next submission ;-)

Hi Aliska,
We really like where you're going with this! Here are some suggestions that should help.
1. The Header Photos:
For various reasons, it might be better to have the figure in the center be a martial artist in meditation posture (I have such a photo and will attach it - can't guarantee its resolution though). The business woman on the left is perfect. On the right we could then put someone in a demanding athletic scenario, like rock climbing.
2. The Header Shape:
The colors are great, but all the elements in the design are very square. Could you make the bottom of the header curve down on the sides? Then on the left side it could curve down farther and become the menu area (replacing the grey box that's there now).
You can also remove the image on the bottom left about the instructors. That box could be used for a photo eventually, though.
3. The Samurai Sword:
It's nearly invisible when it's under the words. Perhaps a better image of the sword could go right under the hearder, at the very top of the white text area?
We want to encourage you with this design - it's coming along very nicely!
Sincerely, :)
DSR

Hi Aliska,
Very nice work! Can you do a version of number 3 with the "curved look" I described in point number two of my previous message?

Hi all,
Thank-you both for participating in this competition. All the designs you have both submitted are deeply appreciated and you are obviously both very talented.
We have decided to work with Aliska on this particular project.
Aliska, we'll talk about some final revisions this afternoon.
Thank-you both, :)

Hello
Please check revisions.
As for fonts and menu items - yes, you can easily modify them at HTML code. As for wordings at header - sorry, it's not a standart font so you will need designer help for changing them.
Or we can make changes with font there and try to use one of standart fonts.
