Ok, folks, I'm back. The mods will be uploading my logo (Pierre Rousseau Collection), however, first, here is the brief.
We are launching a line of body products (initially a body lotion), to go with our candles. What we are designing here is the LOOK of our packaging. This means you will have free reign as to the background, as well as the artwork.
The line of body products is a luxury, high end, elegant, exotic, luxury line (like all those descriptive words???LOL). I am hoping the packaging conveys the same.
I do not yet have a template to provide you. Just keep in mind that this will be artwork that will go on either a plastic bottle or lotion tube. You have free reign as to the background because we have not yet ordered the tubes/bottles, and, once we decide the winner, we will order the tubes/bottles, in the winning designer's PMS color for the background.
Text on the bottom should read something like:
Net wt. 6 ounces
Somewhere in there, should be the words "Hydrating Body Lotion."
I look forward to seeing all your ideas.

Are you screening on the containers or will this be on a label? Any printing restrictions (# colors...)? Do you know if the format will be vertical or horizontal?
PerfumeHut
06-12-2007, 06:16 PM
It will be printed on a label and, there are no color restrictions. As for vertical vs horizontal. That's up to you. Clearly the logo and the text on the bottom will have to be vertical however, if you wanted to put text horizontally, that's up to you as well.
The label will be clear, which means that whatever you choose as the background color will be the color of the actual tube/bottle.
ElKootcho
06-12-2007, 07:32 PM
What final format will you need delivered? I assume that you will be manipulating the art in-house, on your own?
PerfumeHut
06-12-2007, 07:33 PM
When you say manipulating, what do you mean?
As for format, it will likely be PDF, however, I will need to know the PMS colors in use (including the background).

JP,
Here is an initial design from me.
Will there be two sticker labels (one for front, one for back), or one sticker that wraps around the tube/bottle?
Thanks,
Susan
PerfumeHut
06-13-2007, 04:02 AM
There will likely be two labels, but, you don't have to worry about the back one, as it will be only text.
This design is actually too complex to be carried out the way we would like it. If you think about it, this would be almost impossible to put into a label as it takes up too much of the front, from top to bottom. In addition, it's not quite the elegant look we are after.
OffbeatDesign

Keeping it simple. If it's too simple, let me know.

Fran, it would be impossible to get the bottle to be made in a color gradient like you have submitted. Remember, the bottle has to be printed in a solid color.

actually it was just a light effect, here are the proposal with a solid background.
Thank you,

A suggestion would be to go with frosted tube as this has the luxury feel and has body like texture.
My design has no background,it's been designed to overlay directly onto the tube.

Hi, thanks for the invitation!
the water droplet photograph here is a little rough, but it serves to illustrate my concept.
i imagine the line of products having textural background photography which serves to illustrate the focus of that particular product. various colour schemes could be used to portray a myriad of skin tones.

I'm not crazy about the color scheme, but, I like the idea. Also, please see above. I would prefer that the color of my logo not be changed (in this case, to brown), unless you have to change it to black or white, for purposes of implementation.

Very simple, elegant, and using the stripes similar to your candle box (helps brand recogonition to maintain some consistency throughout product range). Shown on either a white or black background (I think these two options for bottle colors are the most elegant).

Rongen. We like this submission. Can we see it with a couple of different background/bottle color options?
Rongen, I also just realized that, with a screen print, it would be nearly impossible to incorpoate the top and bottom stripes/bands, so, while I do like this design alot, it's nearly impossible to put into practice.

6-SGlasgow-Not quite what we are looking for. Don't like the green background or all that stuff going on in the middle.
19-Shnickerdoodle-It's hard to judge this without first seeing it on a tube or bottle.
Artemii-Not the look we are going for. The yellow doesn't do it for us.
31-Bluecherry-Again, I would like to see this on a tube or bottle.
39-Fran-The one on the left isn't too shabby. It doesn't quite work completely. Maybe we could try making the cap PMS 222 and maybe changing up font sizes.
40-Fabian-We like it but don't love it. It's nice, simple, and elegant, but, I think it might be TOO simple. Is there anything you could try?
44-Freetime-Not quite sure about this. Can you try two things? First making the "Hydrating Body Lotion" wider, as it's WAY too narrow? Second, could you try making the tube/bottle PMS 222 and reversing the color scheme?
46-Not quite what we are looking for, as it has too much of a label type feel.
49-Fabian again-Again, it's not bad, but, doesn't quite convince us. I genuinely think you KNOW what we are going for, but, you aren't quite there yet.
50-Jeff-This is, so far, our favorite design (middle one). It's attention grabbing without being loud/gaudy, and, at the same time, supremely elegant.
57-Freetime-Again, I would like to see it wider, as it's barely legible the way it is but, it's definately not bad.
60-Not quite what we are looking for.
62-Not quite what we are looking for.
64-Susan-Again, it's not really what we are after, and, it looks like a label to me.
71,73-Dave-Again, not quite what we are going for.
75-Ami-This would be very difficult (if not impossible) to accomplish with silk screening or offset printing, and has too much of a Victoria's Secret look.
81-Rongen-We like this, and it's definately in our top two or three so far.

Hmmm. Interesting. A couple of things. Not really convinced by that triple R thingy you did, as it isn't really our logo, as it's missing the bar on the left.
I also think that the "Hydrating Body Lotion" should stand out a bit more, as it's the very product, and don't want it to get lost in the shuffle.
Also, that first tube that you posted. Can you tell me what brand it is that carries it?

Freetime, what I would like to see is the part where it says "Hydrating Body Lotion" wider. Not sure why you are making it so narrow, given the fact that you have that entire width available. not saying you have to make it 3" wide, but, please make it a bit wider.
Also, please post it on the tube (as you did on the left) as well as on the bottle, like Fabian did below yours.
Also, on the tube, please remove the light stripes going up and down the tube on either side, and maybe try to make the cap a different color (maybe black)?

Here are 2 versions build on the same concept. Let me know if you want different versions of the silhouette (more/less hair, positioning of the body, lines thickness, etc...).
What´s interesting is that it´s possible to change the simbol for other products of the line, having especific designs for the parts of the body (hands lotion, face lotion, feet lotion, etc...) making it possible to play with the theme without being repetitive.
Put this product on the shelf and it will stand out. :)
Please advise.

Ok, folks. I'd like to narrow down our choices and, if possible, see each design, in one single post, on a variety of different bottle/tube options, before we make our final decision.
Our four finalists are:

I'd like to see EACH design, on some different options, as outlined below:

2-Bottle exactly like the one most of you have been using, like Offbeat in number 50
3-A bottle like this one:
