Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Queslett

What type of product or service do you offer?

Online software/systems development tools. (Requirements and Test Management)

How long have you been in business?

About 6 months

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

Create an impression of a professional organisation and product, but which appeals more to small to medium businesses.

What are your long term goals?

To build a large user base of customers that use the product and continue to return to the site to contribute to the user community.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

6th July

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience

I don’t have any yet! ;-)

Who would you like to add to your audience?

Small, to mid-size software/systems design companies and individuals that are looking to improve the way they develop their products, but are reluctant to…

a) Pay the high prices established suppliers charge

and

b) Employ a full time sys-admin to set-up and manage the software.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

I would like the logo to be based on the text “Queslett”

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

None

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

None.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Modern, clean, serious (but a bit more light hearted than the companies shown in the link below).

What is your tagline or slogan?

None

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

The easiest to use, no nonsense tool for engineers looking to progress from using MS Office to manage and perform requirements and testing activities.

Where will your new logo be used?

Website, letterheads, business cards etc

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

The following aren’t competitors, but are in the same field. (Selecting them opens up a clearer version)
http://www.qbssoftware.com/Publisher_list.aspx

In short….
Adobe – Great
Alt-n – Too complicated
Altova – Too plain
Borland – OK, bit plain though
Corel - Good
Dameware – Pants! Can’t even read it!
Macromedia – Great
Microsoft – OK, but plain
Sophos – OK
Symantec – OK
VMWare – Great
Winzip – Hate it

List competitive URLs if possible

Not possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?

a) Targeted at smaller companies and individuals, rather than enterprise organisations (and their budgets)
b) Lower cost
c) User community

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

“Big tools for the little guy” (Not to be included within the logo)

Additional

Abobe Illustrator file format please.
Will need winning designer to sign the copyright transfer.

Thanks, looking forward seeing all your ideas......
Ian

Some feedback - Don't shy to ask if I can provide any more infomation.

Thanks
Ian

#2 Offbeat Design V1
I like the font and colour, but I'm not so sure about the squares above it. The aspect ratio and bulging reminds me of an "old style" TV screen. Perhaps play with the style, position and size of the squares?

#3 Pracus V1
Not sure about this. I "think" I like the circles, but it isn't a shape I would first think of using myself. I like the simplicity of the circles, but I'm not so sure on the colour. The text does look like "O.UESLETT" though.

#4 Offbeat Design V2
This doesn't appeal. Font, or the shape. Sorry :-)

#5 Fabian V1
I like the classy font, but the chunky "Q" doesn't look right with that style of text.

#6 Logoholik V1
I think it's a little too plain. Perhaps changing the colours might help. I'm also not sure of the Q's tail in mono?

#7 Logoholik V2
I like this, but the "Q" looks like an "O" with a tail. Is it possible to see this with the tail in the Q, and perhaps in different fonts?

#8 Logoholik V3
I like the idea, but something doesn't seem right but I'm not sure what? Perhaps it looks like "Oueslett" with an arrow on top?

Hi Elkootcho
Thanks for your entries.

V1 looks interesting but perhaps too chunky? What's it like thinned down?

V2 Not keen on this at all.

Thanks
Ian

Sorry I haven't been able to post this sooner.

This is the first time I've used this site, and before starting this I was a bit worried that I wouldn't like anything. From what's been posted I had nothing to worry about :D

#14 ElKootcho V3
Not that keen, sorry.

#15 Carlos V1
I'm not really into the curvey stuff, but this is a bit to stark and angular even for me.

#16 guetizo V1
I like this. It has some sort of "x factor" or polish about it. One small concern I have about it is that it looks very "web 2.0" which is great at the moment, but will this go out of fashion soon? I perfer what you've done with V2 and V3.

#17 #18 Fabian V2 and V3
I'm not keen on either of these. Thanks.

#19 xpressions V1
It has a cleanness about it, but my first thought was "Pacman being sick" ;) A couple of other people have also commented that the blue text and small orange squares remind them of a UK bank (Alliance and Leicester)

#20 #21 DAVEGK V1 V2
I prefer V2, but I can't stop seeing a roll of Sellotape. Or sometimes it looks like the letter "e" rather than a "Q"? I don't think it's worth pursuing this idea. Thanks.

#22 Logoholik V4
I prefer this to V1. But I perfer V5 more than this.

#23 Logoholik V5
I like this. Is it possible to see the "Q" rotated anti clockwise a few degrees to put the arrow head in the bottom right of the charactor? Would this make sure it definatly looks like a "Q"?

#24 Logoholik V6
I like it, but I wouldn't do any more with it for now.

#25 Logoholik V7
Again I like it, but like V6, I wouldn't do any more with it for now.

#25 guetizo V2
I like the way the letter "Q" has been chopped. It might be a colour thing with this one, but I'm not so keen on the shading on the main logo. The black text is a bit stark. Is it possible to see a few different colour combinations? Also, would this style of "Q" work with a softer, slightly rounded font?

#26 guetizo V3
This looks very polished. But the same comment as above - Is it possible to see it with some different colour combinations and different font?

Sorry for the delay in responding - Had some problems logging into the site. Thanks for your help Abby! :D

#29 RelevantStudio V1
Not really what I'm looking for. Would look great for a book publisher, or estate agent though!

#30 Logoholik V8 / V9
Thanks for the revisions. There's nothing I can think of to change for now.

#32 Fabian V4
I think the Q is too hidden. It's an odd name so I want people to be in no doubt as to what it is.

#33 Quetizo V4
Out of the three colour combinations I like the orange one best.

#34 Quetizo V5
Doesn't look at good as I thought it might do.

#35 Quetizo V6
Looks cool. Nothing I can think of to change at the moment.

#36 Quetizo V7
I like this more than #34. The coloured bit of the "Q" looks at bit like a sausage :-) Is it possible to keep the rest of the rounded letters but change the Q so it has the non-rounded ends? Thanks.

#37 Fabian V5
I prefer this to V4, although it doesn't have a "wow" factor for me.

#39 Offbeat Design V3
I prefer the straight edges for the squares. I like it, but the squares are so simple I'm worried it's going to look too similar to other logos.

#40 Offbeat Design V4
Not keen - Sorry.

#41 eziey V1
Not sure about the question mark. I'm not sure how it will be interpreted by customers.

Thanks for the feedback.
Here's a semi-non-round edges :) "Q" for your appreciation.

Thanks everyone for your entries. Samoyloff and eziey (V2), thanks also, although I don't think I want to continue with these ideas.

I decided the winner is guetizo (Version 9). (Although Logoholik's arrow idea was a very close second - thanks for entering)

guetizo - I like the first one in version 9 as it is. Can you also do it with the rounded box (like in V6). With the main text in white, keep the orange and the box in the blue as used in the text.

Again, thanks everyone for your entries :D
