Use stock photos. Happy human faces. (Unidentifiable) cars (or otherwise they look old very quicly).

Deadlines and Deliverables

1c) What is the deadline for your template design?
I am hoping for a week.

2c) Will you require HTML coding? (Yes/No)
No, but I need one front page and one internal.

Are there any other comments/specific ideas we should keep in mind while designing your project?
The font in the logo is Cosmos. Just in case you want to use it elsewhere. Design for 1024x768. I did have one idea about splitting the page 50/50 for cars/finance. URL will be carrotcars.com.aui

Hello again,

This is the direction im heading in, a clean design the has well defined call outs for the “New Car Finance” and “Used Car Finance” sections. Also I wanted to follow through the quirkness of the brand thoughout the design, with little touches here and there.

Hope you like this take on your project:)

Thanks Fabian. Not a bad effort.
Here's what I like in particular:
1. The bits "growing" out around the menu items.
2. The background colour for "Welcome to Carrot Cars"

Here's what I think could improve it:
1. A human face or 2? You can use stock or any photos on carbroker.com.au
2. The menu is a bit funny with 2 items that won't fit.
3. Colours: I'd like them to be a bit more intense.

Just a side note: I meant 50/50 between Car Finance (both new and used) and Car Buying. So the 2 big headings would be Car Finance and Car Buying.

Hello,

I have two slightly different versions for you to review. The only difference is the bg.

Version 1 (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/carrotcars/)

Version 2 (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/carrotcars/2)

Looking forward to your feedback.

Thanks,
Lalit

Thanks Aliska!

Sorry to have taken so long. I have been staring at all of these for days, and spoken to my colleagues. None of them jump out at me at this point, so I have been thinking how to provide feedback. Very specific, or general (so as not to stifle creativity)? Anyway, here goes:

Fabian: Better, but can you get a car picture or 2 in there? It just doesn't say "cars" enough.

Lalit: I like version 1 better. Also the car pics are a bit too faded and so I think it needs a car photo somehow/somewhere.

Will: I like the picture, but the whole page is too busy. My colleauges didn't like the cartoon character.

Anne: I like it (including the idea about having the Members Login available like that), but not sure about the vertical distance between the menu and the top of the page. Perhaps you could make the carrot logo protrude into the box below.

To all regarding the logo: I can see that it appears to be difficult to incorporate it naturally, what with text on either side, and the carrot being so long. Will decided to increase the text size (relatively) to overcome the problem. While I can see the logic (and I'm not too concerned about it), I think I would rather see all of the text on one side of the carrot as a solution (if possible). The logo really is the carrot, and so text placement is not crucial.

I lighten the content trying to avoid loosing the identity I created :D

Thank you all and sorry about the delay. All good work, but nothing *really* grabbed me until the last entry by djaka.

djaka - you are the winner. I would like some modifications, so I guess move this thread to the appropriate forum. I will prepare some notes over the next 16 hours regarding modifications.

djaka:
1. Remove the red circle top right hand corner and replace with a button (or similar) that says Testimonials (or "Testimonials - click here")

2. The light/bright green right at the bottom of the page. I would prefer a uniform green, and I like the one near the top. SO please Also move "This site has been designed..." down outside the white content rectangle, and remove the green bit at the bottom of the white content rectangle.

3. Can you make the "active" menu tab look like a tab? i.e. make it white and make it look like part of the page.

4. Can you reduce the vertical height of the orange are at the top of the page so that the carrot (in the logo) protrudes into the green area? The main purpose of this is to reduce the vertical height of the header by (up to about) 22px

Then send me all of the files and we can wrap this up.
