Company Details
1a) Name of Company
Thermaltech.co.uk
1b)Company Tag Line or slogan:
None at the moment
1c) Do you have a company logo?
Nope, just text on a gradianted background.
1d) Do you have a corporate visual identity (a customized (non stock) logo and color scheme carried out throughout your office, stationery, business cards, etc.)?
No
1e) What is the nature of your business?: Briefly describe your products or services:
The site is the first uk site dedicated to everything that is Thermaltake based. Thermaltake are a company that do computer cases, watercooling, cpu cooling etc etc
1f) Who is your target market? Who are you hoping to reach with your site?
Anyone with money :D People who are looking for the product with a bit more information and spec that the average site.
Website Details
1b) Do you have an existing website? If so, what is the URL?
www.thermaltech.co.uk
2b) IMPORTANT: Please list at least 3 URLs (web addresses) of high quality sites that you like the look of (these do not have to be sites who’s business is similar to yours. It aids us in determining what your design style is.) Please consider layout, colors, navigation, graphics, and typography.
www.specialtech.co.uk
www.nanopoint.co.uk
www.quietpc.com
3b) What colors or color schemes would you like?
Initially black and red like the www.thermaltake.com website but I don't know if that leads to people purchasing. Orange website seem to be the rage so perhaps something with strong orange and reds without to much red if that makes sense?
4b) List the Navigation links for your Site:
At the top there is a speed bar (this site is being upgraded to xcart and not oscommerce) so there will be telephone number, support, Tracking info (these are all text based, see specialtech.co.uk for an idea)
5b) What type of look are you trying to achieve? (e.g. clean, high-tech, conservative, warm, flashy, etc.)
High tech with clear details but not overly geeky or simplistic. Too much white and people get a little bored and too much color leads to eyesore.
6b) Please provide the addresses of competitors' sites, if possible:
www.overclockers.co.uk
www.scan.co.uk
www.xcase.co.uk
7b) Do you have any images for use in the design of your site? If not, do you have images, can you offer suggestions of what you type of imagery you feel would be most suitable for your website:
No, we use the stock images from the www.thermaltake.com website
Deadlines and Deliverables
1c) What is the deadline for your template design?
1 month from project start - Can wait till the right design is acheived
2c) Will you require HTML coding? (Yes/No)
Will require help with implementing into xcart (does that answer the question?? sorry if not)
3c) If so, will you require it to be ONLY CSS layout? (Yes/No --- {fees})
No
4c) How many pages coded will you require delivered? ({fees})
Approx 2
**NOTES**
Please note that this is a skin for an Ecommerce site, namely xcart 4.1.17. It would be great if someone could help or quote for the cost of a skin implementation. I can supply an example of a skin to see how things are sliced etc if thats off use
Hi Mods,
Could you append the title to put a due date of July 27th

Hi mwnn,
Here is my entry:
Nice idea so far. Defiantly interested, like the color scheme going on there and the layout.
Before a final decision lets see if anyone else can contribute :D

Here's my entry, let me know if you want to see any changes. I took into consideration on the graphics and menus, so you would be eaisly able to modify/update them yourself through the xcart software.
The middle image is designed to be your main attention grabber that you can change at will when / if you are running different promos.
Hello, i'll be submitting too.
Just letting you know I am working on an idea - may take a couple of days to come together :)
Hello Mwnn,
This is the design I am working on. I have to add, that I have not worked with xcart before, so I am not 100% sure if this design would work.
However, in most cases with tweaking you can get just about anything to work. :)
I look forward to your thoughts.
Thank you
Zoe

Hello,
Here's my entry - ENTRY (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/thermaltech/)
I do have past experience with X-cart and am confident I can help you create a functioning website in no time.
Looking forward to your feedback.
-Lalit
Hi everyone, thanks for the entries thus far. As always some really good designs and feedback.
On the menu side of things I believe that X-Cart uses CSS to control that side of things so just wanted to say that it would be great if the menu can easily be made CSS-able (if there is such a word lol)
This is also a 2 page job as well for product listings as well, its the standard image on the left and text on the right, the closest example I have seen to this is www.specialtech.co.uk and click any of the categories on the left. Hope that I specified that in the spec above.
I'll have some feedback drawn up tonight on all the designs :-)
If the comments seem somewhat disjointed its becase there are 2 of us writing this
@vhqdesign
I do like the look of this, clean and uniform, almost quite a serious type look. As a front page I cant fault it at this moment but its not grabbing me quite yet, its one of those that I think is a grower
Red & Gray is Ok but title strip is striped and that's just not coming across right somehow. Navigation layout is OK but i'm not quite feeling it, again a good basis but needs polishing. Featured products lend themselves well to pimping lines and driving visitors.
@Trifolic
Nice, great new logo that can be used with places like shopping comparison sites and something a little different, nice non fussy design but perhaps almost a little too unfussy on the menu bar such as categories and stuff. Like the apple esq idea of the main product in the middle to grab attention
Orange is all the rage you're right but i'm not sure it is after a little thought. Again the asthetic's are better, the navigation looks a little more polished, having the arrow heads on the right after the text seems to draw me to click them more. Not sure how well the 'New Products...' looks in red, perhaps put the navigation in a light grey to seperate it more ? Best sellers is weak spot, pics required and they need to be more central, they don't pull me into the site at all.
@Zoe
Categories at the top I like but that would limit us to just the one that we have now, they do tend to change quite a lot so im not sure how it would look if it had to be smaller to accommodate if that makes sense? Tis a very radical design that I, again, quite like. How would it look with the bottom sorted for showing credit cards and the notification about SSL payments and such?
@LalitB
There's a lot of unused space at the top and no space for tabs at the top, Again this is another good design (as they all are lol) Can you add something like Home - Contact us - Shipping info as tabs on the bit where you have "Welcome guest"
The top sellers and best sellers seem to be the same, how about changing the bottom top sellers to Special Offers. On the right hand side can u do a mock up with some small images on there as well?
At the bottom I like the Thermaltech shipping offer bit, wouldn't mind seeing something like that on some other pages, just to get encouragement for people to scroll but not too far
Do you accept more entries?

Hi,
Revision 1 (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/thermaltech/2/) : Added links to the header and images on the best seller listings.
Revision 2 (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/thermaltech/3/) : Added links to the top bar, moved search to the header, added pictures on the best sellers listing and made the header shorter.
These should give you a basic feel for the design layout. Sections can easily be moved around or changed. Please let me know if you would like any further revisions.
Regards,
Lalit
Hi Annie, the more the merrier :D
Lalit, can you change the color of the buttons to be a bit more vibrant, the green doesnt seem to fit into the site.
Also the logo, whats the circle represent?

Hi,
Revision 3 (http://www.eyeseedesigns.com/do/thermaltech/4/)
The logo is kinda random, the lines were suppose to be a breeze. :confused:

I am working on a design and will post later today.

Here's my revision, please let me know if you would like to see any more changes or anything moved / colored differently.
2nd Round of feedback
@Zoe
This seems to be the most popular one that i have shown to people. Can you change the green tho as it doesn’t seem to blend in. Also is it possible to get a mock up on the products listing pages?
@Anne
I am liking this one, it doesn’t look like it a “stock” website template, nice and clean. The welcome to Thermaltech thing doesn’t need to be there as that won’t be on the new site.
@Trifolic
Yet again another good entry (**** you all for making the choice an eventual hard one) Would you say that having fixed width is being limited, just thinking about the products listing page that is on the site. Do like the box at the bottom to make the eye wander to the special offer. Nice flowing page all in all
Will have more feedback later when Im not on a small screen device :D

It is designed as fixed width since its still in PSD format, however it can very easily be made to be either full or 80% screen with borders. By either expanding the body for products and leaving the columns fixed, or setting all 3 zones as %'s say 25-50-25.
as a designer and a web viewer type, what do you think would be better design wise?

I personally have always been a fan of a fixed design, due to the fact of multiple types of browsers, screen sizes and resolutions, I have seen many designs torn apart or scrunched together because of people using different browsers or settings on their comptuers.

Hi
here is a revision from me
I must apologise. Unfortunately due to time constraints I will need to pull out. I am sorry for the inconvenience this may cause.
Oopps sorry for not getting back on here sooner, life took a bit of a turn just recently. Apologies for all those waiting.
Id like to give the job to Anne, nice clean simple design won it for us and the color scheme. Red is a bit of a strange color to use these days but its different :D
Just want to say thanks to everyone that contributed to this.
Congratulations Anne.
This thread has been moved to the revisions forum where you can continue to work on any modifications that may be required.
Once the files have been received, please post back here for administration.
I hope you have enjoyed the Design Outpost experience.
Thanks
Thank you for choosing my design :) I'll see you in the revision forum.

Hi Anne,
have you had any experience with implementing a website skin to X-cart? the look of the site you based it on was OScommerce but after consideration I might move over to X-cart, all depends on the new beta of OSC tho
No, I am sorry but I have no experience with X-cart.
Hi Anne,
Sorry for not replying sooner, been a bit ill recently and not been able to get moving forward on this project.
Whats the next step on this one, just to get some revisions done etc? I have a copy of the Skin file used on the default installation of xcart, is that something you can work with
