We are a jewellery company looking for a double sided advertisement, sized 8 1/2 by 11.
Offer: $200.00
Due: July 11th, 2007

We are renewing our look and want a couple contemporary ads to go along with the new design of our stores.

The new look for our stores include clean cut lines and bold colours. The kiosk will be made of glass and dark wood with a metal and dark wood canopy.

We are a jewellery store that sells designer jewellery from all over the world. I will post a couple pictures featuring a few pieces of the jewellery we sell. You may crop or cut our pictures and include them in the advertisement however you like. We have many more pictures as well if you would like additional ones. If there are other pictures you would like to use, go right ahead as long as they feature some jewellery that resembles that in our photos. We would like to sell a lifestyle along with the jewellery.

Both advertisements should have limited text. Please leave a space for the date to be inserted. We would like some jewellery to be featured in the advertisements.

Ad#1 (side A): text should include "Sale; 1 DAY ONLY; 50% off EVERYTHING"

Ad#2 (side B): text should include "FREE gift with purchase; 1 DAY ONLY"
* we would like to stress the words that have been capitalized

The font we have been using for our store name is an adobe font called futura in a version that is light, and condensed. The spacing of the letters written on the canopy is 500, but do not feel you must use that spacing or font.

If you have any questions, just ask! We are very open minded and are looking for something that will reflect our new contemporary look and catch the eyes of our customers.

Hi Silver,
Here's my entry. :) I've adopted a contemporary, minimalist and clean design to appeal to the intended market.

Let me know what you think. :)

You're off to a great start. Would we be able to see what SilverStone would look like all in capitals? I really like your first design, the "50% off everything." What would it look like with a bit of color in the background? I am not sure about the "free gift with purchase" design...for some reason it doesn't catch my eye as much as the "50% off everything" one. I love the clean, contemporary designs.

Hi Silver,
I'm glad u liked it in some way. :)

I've made amendments as per requested; about adding some colour to the background, I've actually added a slight gradual tone to the background, it cannot be too strong or the pieces will not stand out, and because the pictures all come with a white background, therefore the background cannot be fully solid either.

Let me know what you think. :)

I like the background in the second posting you did for "50% off everything." Could we bold 50% too? I'd like the two ads to look different, so based on this I like the concept of the first "free gift with purchase" design...what would that one look like with different color background? Maybe it's the grey on grey that makes it not as eye catching.

Hi Silver,
I've enhanced the ads as per your requests, as well as some subtle improvements. :)

Do we have any other color options for the backgrounds and writing other than the purple/brown-ish for "free gift with purchase?" (that is different from the other ad) I'd like to see some different colors if I could. I like the shape and size of the text now. Is there any other way we can outline the pictures?

Hi Silver,
here's a couple more options for you. (The pdf has 4 pages.)

I love the "50% off everything" ad, but I'd like to go back to the grey background for that one...and that one will be done. I love it. I am starting to get a little concerned that when people read the free gift with purchase they will think they are getting either that bracelet or the earrings for free...which isn't true, so can we change the text to "Buy 2 Get 1 FREE." I like the 4th page because the earrings aren't cut off. Is there any way to change the 3rd page of the last pdf to make sure the outline doesn't cut off the earrings?
You're doing a great job. Thanks so much!!

Hi Silver,
thanks for your kind words, am glad you like them. :)

Take a look at this one and let me know if you need anything. :)

I like it a lot better when the earrings aren't cut off. I think I like the circle design better though. Could I see what the circle design would look like in red writing and redish background? Is that possible even?

Hi Silver,
I hope I've got what you meant. :)

Sorry, I thought the color you had previously used on message 17 page 2 was pink not red. That was my fault. I like the colors better on the 4th page from message 15 (the orange writing). The red looks too pink. I think once we change the colors, that might be it! (unless you have any other suggestions :) )

Hello,
I'm interested to participate... I'm sure this must be a print design project. Do you need bleed for the design? what file format do you (your printer need) ?

Thanks!

Generally we use .tiff files but pdf works as well. I have no idea what "bleed for the design" means...sorry! It is a print design project. We want some contemporary signs designed.

bogglins

bleed was safety area for trim... so the design goes to the edge, and there will be no white part around the edge on the final printed product...

Silver

Well I don't want a white part around the edge of the final product! Hopefully this helps! Sorry, I am not very familiar with graphic terms!! I'm excited to see your designs!

Pieter-I am not sure if I like the red and black at the bottom. Where would we put the date?

Hi Silver,
Here's the orange option, the pinkish red to more reddish option, and a combination of the two option; let me know what you think. :)

For message 27- In the grey 50% off ad, could we make the "50% off everything" a little bit bigger? I like the orange color better than the other red and pink ones.
For message 28- The jewellery is featured really nicely, but is any way we can incorporate selling a lifestyle along with the jewellery?
Thanks!

Pieter- could I see a design for "free gift with purchase"?

Wynlim- I still really like the 50% ad from message 27. I really don't have any other suggestions for that one.

Hi Silver,

Here is an idea for your project design just for another option.
Clean lines, with a hint of flowing curves for a bit of softness.

Thank you,
Susan

Hi Susan. Thanks for the design. I love seeing what everyone comes up with. For what we are looking for, it is a little busy. When I first opened the file I noticed sale before I noticed the jewellery. I'd like the customers to be drawn in by the jewellery. We want to sell a lifestyle along with the jewellery...but we aren't really showing that here.

Thank you for your feedback.
Let me see if I can remedy some of the issues.
I have lightened the background elements and the text, and rearranged to make the jewelry be the most bold items on the page.
Now for communicating a lifestyle; what lifestyle would you like to portray?

Thank you,
Susan

Hi Silver,

Here is more variation to the design.
I added in a very faint image to possibly apply to communicating a lifestyle; contemporary/high-end living. :)

Thanks again,
Susan

Hi everyone! I am really enjoying all of the desings. Upon getting the owner's opinion, they would like to see more punchy and colorful designs that will really jump out at the customers.
Wynlim- I still love your designs, especially the little text you added to convey buying a lifestyle. Is there any way we can spice up the colors? I love the layout!
Pieter-If you're still interested, I would like to see some more bold and colorful deisgns from you as well.
Susan-The lifestyle we want to sell is to a contemporary woman...the jewellery will make her feel good. Our jewellery is high end designer jewellery. I'd like to see what your designs will look like with more bold colors as well.
Any questions? Just ask!
Thanks a lot everyone!

Here is the design altered for the bolder color and added text to communicate the lifestyle (the words could be changed, please see list below). :) I made further rearrangements so that the jewelry remains the main focus.

glamorous

modern – flair

pristine – style

chic - allure

fab-u-lous

savoir-faire

live modern

Here is a jpeg version so you can see it instantly (note: not actual size). :)

Thanks,
Susan

The owners have made a few more suggestions:
1. Can you change the date to July 21st
2. Can you make 50% off everything and 1 day only bigger and bolder
3. Can you increase the size of the word Silverstone and make it bolder to make it more visible.
It would be great to see these changes!
Thanks!!!
I don't want to rush anyone, but a decision will be made today as to which design we will go with.

I'd like to announce that we are going to go with Susan's designs.
Thanks a lot everyone who submitted designs. It was really nice to see the different projects. We'll definitely be using this site again as the designers are incredible! I am new at this site, so I hope I wasn't too much trouble for you designers!
Now Susan, is there any way that I can get the file from message 40 asap. You can take time to work on the second design as I am in no rush to get that one. Let me know!

Wynlim- I'm so sorry. I loved all your designs. It's hard right now because not everyone is in the office to take a look at the designs and we are on a tight schedule! We have a few more projects that we will be looking to get completed soon as well. I hope you will enter those ones. I look forward to working with you again. Thank you so much for your hard work.
