(Admin code added by Palmer - 7DP02738L4634162E)

Company Name: “CityName”VideoPages.com (i.e. – louisvillevideopages.com)

Company Profile: We are company developing city-based web sites that incorporate Internet Yellow Pages, video commercials and social networking. We’re creating a local search option for consumers to find the best results for a plumber, restaurant, realtor and any other business or product/service. We accomplish this through an intuitive online search tool, video commercials (sold to the business) and through social networking (see the trusted businesses of your friends).

Design Project Description: We need a logo that is flexible to incorporate many city names in it. For example, we need the logo for louisvillevideopages.com and dcvideopages.com to look similar in nature. This logo will be used in all sizes and functions (business card, “bug” on each web video and billboards).

How it should look
–flexible (many city names)
–two options (vertical and horizontal)
–scalable (use on very small and large designs)

How it should NOT look:
–like a financial “stuffy” logo
- a film or video clip reel

Words that could be helpful in creating your design (this is what I want people to think of when they see the design and how they should feel about company):
-local
–resourceful
–simple
–easy to use
–cutting edge (but not IT "techy")

Possible colors: Open to ideas, but not yellow and preferably green

We request the following: Original files (photoshop with all layers)

I've had great luck in the past with DO and we hoped we'd be on our way to having a new logo for this project. We set the deadline as a quick one, but we really want to see some great examples.

Anyone interested in this project? Please let me know as I'm worried about meeting the deadline.

Thanks,

Todd

Hi!

Please allow me to introduce the new type of brand identity that our studio is working on and which fits well to your Video Pages brand. Our new approach of logo design lies on creating "movable" anf flexible signs in opposition to well known static forms that very most of world's brands have right now.

The main rule is to create simple elements (rather less than more) which are characteristic for the brand and which are arranged in different forms according to the rules of the arrangement created for the brand. The brand is then recognizable by these specific elements and the color palette strictly connected with them.

So this is what I have for you: two elements (the kind of triangle and the semicircle) in blue and green (that shows energy and confidence) that are the visual represantation of letters V and P - the initials of "Video Pages". These elements are then arranged on the city plan (Louisville, KY in my example below) and make the abstract symbol of the city map. The elements can be resized and rotated only by 45 degrees. Also the font of the name CityNameVideoPages.com is strictly defined. That makes this brand very unique and flexible :)

Sorry for the delayed response. I've been traveling and when I left there were no responses. First... I'm pushing the deadline back to July 11. Here is our feedback on the designs, so far.

Pracus - The two elements don't really work for us. We prefer a "traditional" logo and would welcome you to try something else.

samoyloff - All three designs are great. Not sure such light blue's will work for us on #5, but we like the direction you've gone. If you can somehow include "local" or "finding" with the designs, it would be perfect. Great work!

Titania - We think mouse is not the direction we'd like to go, but the sun/pages over the .com is very good. If you can tweak that a little, it would be good.

Taldo - Good work on your designs. We like #10 better than #12. A simpler skyline is what we prefer. Please try to make the skyline less "busy."

guetizo - We like the turning pages, but need something else added to it or maybe not so large. Also, the colors aren't our favorites, but the pages with our name is a good direction.

One final thought.. the "official" yellow pages logo is not trademarked and if someone wants to try to edit the fingers and/or book to work with our logo that would be great. http://www.baneclene.com/images/YellowPagesLogo.jpg

Thank you all for your designs. They look great and we hope we can move forward quickly in the next week. If you have questions for us, please post them here.

I've used a generic city skyline in this concept, so it's not Louisville related and can be used for any other city.

OK, I understand you don't like it.
But... What do you mean by "flexible" refering to traditional logos?

Moderator - Can you please change the title of this project to Deadline July 11.

Pracus - we meant flexible to be in size (web & billboard) and in the font (Louisville & DC). We said traditional meaning an icon or creative font to represent our company rather than the mix of the two elements. Does that help?

samoyloff - Very good work. We like the skyline on #14 (especially a generic one). We're unsure about the use of the tv and skyline. Same with #16. Unsure about the magnifying glass. We haven't found another icon that says locate or find, but we'd like to. Maybe an arrow pointing to something?

Thanks,

Todd

One more item that might help is our tag line. "Find your local favorite" The idea is a user may not have a favorite plumber or Italian restaurant, but our site can help the user find it! Hope this helps.

Taldo - We like that logo. I like the .com under pages and the colors are great. Can you try the name to the left or right of the "tv"?

samoyloff - Can you also try #02a with the name to the side (left or right) of the icon? On #01a could you put Louisville on one line and VideoPages.com underneath? Not sure if this will work with different city names, but it might. Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Todd

Yes on #21, to either side that you think would work.

Hello:

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b92/nhrdesign/DO_/VideoPages_nhr.png

Thank you.

P.S.
I have similar elements with couple of designs here, but I had this concept already and those elemets are natural if you think about city and video.

earwood

First of all, the designs here have been great. This is why we use DO and appreciate the hard work by everyone.

Shnickerdoodle - Great concept. Can you make the "city" a little less cartoonish? The cursive and block fonts are very nice.

davegk - We liked several of your previous designs, but that one looks a little too much like a video game. The colors are fine, but we don't like the icon or the font. Would like to see something else from you.

giant - Unfortunately, we really don't like the colors or the icon. The stacked name with tag line was something different, but we really didn't get this concept. Would welcome another concept from you.

Relevant Studio - We prefer v2 better than v1. The cursive city name and block font for videopages.com are good.

nhr - Great design. The URL under the name isn't bad, but can you to put .com under the "es" of pages after the "g." Hope that makes sense.

titania- Hope to see your variations as well.

Again, we thank everyone for their designs. There's some really great stuff here. We hope to narrow down to our top three choices by the 9th and select the winner on the 11th. If a moderator reads this, please update the title to say due July 11.

Thanks,

Todd

Thank you for the updates. These are really good logos.

samoyloff and nhr - We'd like to see the image to the side of "videopages" and "Louisville" moved above it, just to see what that looks like on #35 on #37 (much like #34 is structured).

titania - thank you for the updated revision. That looks better.

Todd

BlueCherryGraphics - Very creative using the "slide" like a video player, but we don't like the colors or the font. The concept is very good, but could you try another font and color?

samoyloff - We like 2c better than 2d. We like the colors and the font.

shnickerdoodle - That revision is less cartoonish. Could you remove the "billboard tower"?

nhr - Very nice. We like it.

Relevant studio - Not sure about the play button as the sun. The script font is nice and I think the logo would be fine with out a sun.

elogonics - V2 is not what we're looking for, but v1 is better. Maybe try a different icon and use the same font size on video as pages.

Thanks,

Todd

Ok, folks we've picked our final four and will try to select a winner this weekend. Thank you to everyone who submitted a design. We've been very happy again (our 6th DO project). Here are our final four.

Relevant Studio - Message 49 (v4)
nhr - Message 43 (v1.2)
BlueCherry - Message 39 (v1)
shnickerdoodle - Message 54 (v3)

We're both out of the office tomorrow (Friday), but will be talking on Saturday.

Thanks!

Thank you to everyone for submitting such great designs. After a lot of discussion, we've decided on nhr's design (Message #43).

We appreciate everyone's hard work on our project.

Moderator - Please move us to the revisions forum.

nhr - We'd like to start tweaking the design with colors, etc.

Thanks,

Todd

Nebjosa - Congrats, we really like your logo. We'd like to see the logo on message 43 with a few revisions. If it's ok with you, we'd like to edit a few items, then work on colors last.

1- Can we try a video "slide" like the You tube players or something similar to Message 39? I don't want to copy off another designer, but I want to see what it would look like under the "icon" on the left?

2- On the icon, can we see it with only one square without the tilted square behind it?

3- Can we see it without the white curve?

Thanks,

Todd

Thank you. We like ver 1.31 with the gradient 2 the best.

Can you put the "mark" at 25% instead of 50% on the slide? Not sure how that will look.

Also can you add )) to the right of the volume icon? Something similar to the Mac volume icon.

Abby/Moderators,

My final design have elements similar with ones already used by BlueCherryGraphics (message #39) so, I want to split final prize on this way: $100 for BlueCherry and $200 for me.

( I hope is that fair enough :D )

All I need is procedural advice how to do that.
You can PM me.
Thank you in advance.
