QuoteArts.com post card spec
Due: 7/12/07
I need a postcard advertisement, 4.25 X 5.5, black and white on the address side, color on the other side. It's to advertise QuoteArts.com, where I sell greeting cards. It’ll be printed 4-up on an 8 ˝ X 11 sheet, so I’d like it delivered in that form. I don’t plan to print it full bleed, so I think it’ll need a narrow border (1/8 inch or so) around each side of each postcard.
I also would like the project delivered in PSD form, so I can modify the “source code” (coupon code), and possibly add an expiration date.
The colors can be sampled from my logo, or you can use other colors, if it’d look better.
Attached are my QuoteArts.com logo, and jpegs of the greeting cards that I’d like to include in the ad. Along with the logo, please use the by-line “Classic Quotes. Cool Cards.”
Please use the greeting cards in this order (if you don’t use them all) - feel free to modify them, possibly to omit the actual quote, if it's not legible in the ad. I'd like at least the BP163 card to appear on the address side as well as the flip side, and as many as possible of the other shots on the flip side.
BP163
BP458
BP452
BP354
BP115

hi.. many photos on the attachment.. what do you want the designers do with them?..

The photos are images of the cards that I sell on QuoteArts.com, and I'd like for them to be featured on the postcard - BP163 on the address side, and as many of the others as will fit nicely, on the other side.

Hi again.. do you want the design (.psd) to be in exactly this size 4.25 X 5.5 ? or add bleed?

I intend to print these 4-up on 8 1/2 X 11 stock, then cut them. My understanding is that full bleed requires larger paper to print on and trim. So, I'd rather not do a full bleed, but leave a narrow (1/8" ?) border around each card, to avoid the necessity of a full bleed.

my proposal.. :)

I'd like the address side to contain at least the BP163 card image, and roughly the same information as on the other side.
Boggins:
Thanks for your submission. I have to say that it doesn't really appeal to me. It doesn't seem to have any punch. The scrollwork actually interferes with the text overlaying it.
Thanks.

Here's my design for your project. If you like the direction this is headed I'll get to work on the reverse side.

Mike:
Thanks for your proposal. I really like the layout - the horizontal orientation, the fonts, and the spacing. I didn't specify this earlier, but I'd like to enlarge the words "Borealis Press" quite a lot. Also, I find the "headlights" effect in the background color to be a little distracting from the content. Maybe you could try another background. Finally, I've decided that the word "exclusively" should be excluded. I'll update the spec to indicate this. I definitely like the direction this is going in.
Thanks.
Bogglins:
I like this version. I have to say I think I prefer a horizontal orientation, just because that's the way most people will see the card. I like the "clean-ness", colors and fonts.
Thanks a lot.

Please note that I've updated the spec, to change the wording a bit, and add a few additional points. Also, I've re-uploaded the card, BP163, so it no longer includes the watermark across the middle of the image.

Thanks, everyone, for your latest submissions. A few comments:
Jeff:
Nice look. It does look a little crowded at the bottom, and a little wide open in the middle. Nice, overall.
ElKootcho:
Nice look all around. The bottom left could be a little lighter, but great look. I'm anxious to see the other side.
Bogglins:
Nice look, also. Please see the text changes in the spec. Very nice.

Hi. Here are some designs I have for you. The largest image could be switched out with what you'd like.
Thanks,

El Kootcho:
I actually like a combination of your submissions 3 & 4. I like the overall look of #3 best, but like the font used for "Great News!" in #4 better. Also, I prefer the 5-cards layout over the 3-card layout.
Finally, on the address side, I'd prefer the copy to read the same as the flip side - "Great News! Your favorite Borealis Press cards and magnets are now available online - at QuoteArts.com!
Special get-acquainted offer – your first card is free! ..."
Thanks.

El Kootcho:
I omitted one last change. Can you put the card BP458 on the address side, and include BP452 in its place on the other side?
I really like this layout, and this is the one I'll go with.
Thanks, all, for your submissions.
