Hello Everyone.

I am an Ojibway artist from Canada and I am in the process of formalizing my theatre company with a website, logo design and promotional materials. I am starting with a logo contest and if I like your work rest assured you will be contracted to continue assisting me in building my dream.

My company is called MooseGuts Theatre Company. It is a First Nations (Native American) owned and operated theatre company and I like to think that we are on the cutting edge of theatrical storytelling, comedy, sketch in the Native Entertainment community.

As the Artistic Director, I established MooseGuts Theatre Company to discover interesting and exciting new ways to tell old stories. Moose Guts Theatre strives to explore the boundaries of storytelling, comedy, theatre and dreaming. MooseGuts Theatre is a Native Theatre Company that uses numerous artistic mediums to create, develop and produce innovative new material that examines “community” through physical, spiritual, mental and emotional journeys.

As an artist MooseGuts Theatre is important because I want to put risk and adventure back into theatre. I want to test boundaries with performance that will enrich and enhance peoples perceptions and ideas of North America's original people.

As an Urban Native person I want the logo to have an urban-downtown-kinda feel to it. At the same time, I grew up in a small town in Northwestern Ontario and I have a strong connection to the land and the environment. Both of these things are integral to MooseGuts Theatre Company. I look forward to seeing Fall colours, as Fall is the hunting season of this great animal that means so much to the Ojibway people of my traditional lands.

MooseGuts Theatre is theatre with an edge. Moose Guts Theatre will make you think, dream, cry, cringe, laugh, laugh, laugh, and imagine what is possible inside and outside the walls of the theatre. Theatre is life - and life happens everyday. Live to play, and play to live.

I hope this helps. Good luck to all. I'm excited to see your creations.

Ya. Every fall. I grew up pretty poor and my family counted on the land and the animals alot when I was growing up. That's why I honoured that animal by naming my theatre company after it. That and the stories, the comedy that I want to show will take real Guts or balls if you will.

Hence, MooseGuts Theatre Company.

:P
Do I hunt moose? That's funny.

Great start. Love the shot in the gut. Funny ****.

Let's go for a bit more attitude. And I'm not sure how this workd but, maybe a bit of city landscape in the background would look cool? Or a straight nature landscape in the background would be cool? May I see both.

Let me know if I am overstepping the contest boundaries. I'm new here and not sure how this place works quite yet.

:lol2: Gun shot wound to the gut...that rocks.

Overstepping? I think not.
Basically, the way things work here is:

WE post our design ideas.
YOU post your feedback, comments, suggestions, likes, dislikes, etc.
WE work from that... then with a little spit and polish,
YOU get the logo you always wanted!

I'll post your new "looks".
Maybe not this evening, you might hafta wait until tomorrow... I'm pretty whacked right now.
Later.

Here's a quickie city-scape.
I saw you're from the big T(dot)O(dot), so that's supposed to be the CNTower.
(I don't get out much, besides, I said it was a quickie)
I'll fix it up a bit tomorrow.

Also, since you're from Ontari-ari-ari-O, I shoved that trillium in there.
Not sure if you want it.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Kimber

Background looks great but you'll have to kill the flower.

And I was just thinking that it would be cool to see a second moose in the background looking at the shot moose, and he's scared as hell. It approaches the sense of comedy that MooseGuts is known for - we tend to be dark.

Also, I would love to see the tree background as well. I think I'll stay away from the CN Tower thing incase I move out of Toronto...and I might be moving soon.

Do you do website templates as well?

I really like that idea (the scared moose).
I'll post that guy tomorrow if that's okay. I'm already up way past my bedtime. ;)
I'll gas the tower, pull the flower, and draw "Scaredy Moose" tomorrow evening.

As far as Web Templates go, I do build 'em, I'll just admit I'm not extremely "advanced" when it comes to coding. (Which is to say -- I'm quicker on the draw when it somes to the logo-end) :)

Look for my new post tomorrow.

pennyln

i like the outdoors feeling of your design. i would like something with more edge, in your face kinda feel.

keep these things in mind:

-mooseguts theatre company is theatre with attitude and something to say
-we are a Native theatre company
-we are pretty dark with our comedy
-we view theatre and comedy as a mirror in the face of society

hope that helps

I know I'm not a designer nor is this my contest but I was reading the post and farside used to have a cartoon that had three deer in it. One had A bullseye on its belly and the other two behind laughing about it's birth mark I think it was.

Hi Folks

I've sat on this for awhile and I was hoping for more entries. I really enjoy your work Kimber and Pennyln. I would like to see a few things with the entries you have submitted:

Kimber: Can you show me the Moose in front of the cityscape at night. Also can I see a draft of the two Moose with the shot Moose in front and the onlooking Moose to the right of the Moose. Thank you.

Pennyln: When I see the Moose with attitude I laugh. That's a good thing. I would love to see more of your work. The Moose busting through the trees seems a bit "frat boy-beer commercial." As a former frat boy hater at the University of Minnesota, I wouldn't be able to live with that as the face of my company. Like I said, love it...just can't use it for my company. Please keep trying. Thanks.

To everyone else. I anxiously await your talents.

Hello Folks

I can't stress how intense this process has been for me. This has been a dream of mine for so long now and I can finally see the process coming together before my very eyes. Awesome.

Kimber and Pennyln - I love what you have done with the designs.

Kimber: I love the last design you gave me. Can we take the red out of the eyes of the spooked moose? I love the look and feel that you have given the logo. The logo is so sleek and the image is powerful. Can these Moose be hanging outside of a theatre. Can I throw you a curve? What else do you have? Is there an different idea that you have that may have come to you in the process? If not, cool. I love what you've done already. If so, I'm curious.

Pennyln: The design that you have given me is really fun. Its aggresive, goofy, and really strong. I really enjoy the last look that you provided. Can you throw that guy in front of a theatre with MooseGuts Theatre Company in the theatres billboards flashing lights? Just a question. I have an idea.

And once again, all other artists. Please add your submissions.

Thanks again to the designers and to all of the folks behind www.designoutpost.com. My website is next for all interested parties. This experience has kicked ***. Thanks again.

OK

The winner of this contest is Kimber. I would like to thank the designers that came forward and shared their talents with me.

Kimber, the image that I have picked is the image with the "scared moose" peeking through the hole in the shot moose. I love it.

Kimber, I would like to chat about the final image. Please contact me to talk further.

Thanks again DesignOutpost.com.
