Hey guys,
We are SocialEdge, a self-development company coaching people to transform themselves.
We have a draft of our logo already, and just need someone to modify it a bit and make it look professional.
Base Logo Design
The Base Idea for the Logo:
The arrow indicates transformation and growth
The central circle communicates wisdom/ confidence/ being complete
The outer circles fading represent ripples of change
BASE
Social Edge should use a similar font to the one above, but all in capitals (i.e. the last e from edge is in lower case, we don’t want that)
The Font should match the color from the centre circle in the logo image for ‘SOCIAL’, it should be black (or perhaps another color) for ‘EDGE’
The bottom of the ripples should move into background of the font (i.e. not cut off as above)
The image logo should be ‘softer’ than shown above. Our services are intangible and soft, as opposed to a technology/ IT company for example which are hard.
We will need to get the final image in its original high quality editable format eg EPS, Photoshop etc
Alternating Crescents for Ripples
As in the above mock-up image make it so that the image’s ripples are like alternating ‘crescents’.
Crescents need to be stronger to clearly convey the crescent shape but also fading as they get further out (i.e. softer)
Alternating crescents means: First one is crescent from right side, second one is crescent from left side, third from right side etc.
Ideas Designer Should Experiment with to Improve the Design
Color scheme options: Use the base logo to do your main proposal, but feel free to experiment with other colors to offer us alternatives as well (FYI we like the color scheme of front page of IBM.com)
Additional effects: The designer may also improve the logo by adding some minor effects if they feel it will improve it.
Example: Making arrow subtly beveled or slightly 3D effect to it

Thanks for the submissions so far guys. A couple of quick comments:
• Font: We are happy with the font from the base logo - please do something as close to that as possible (while changing the last "e" - see brief)
• Colors: Definitely no black logo - we need some colors in there - we are about changing people's life for the better, not funerals ;-) Please experiment with more colors.
• Crescents / ripples:
o Need to be smoother and fading somehow. This could be achieved through a use of softer colors as the ripples go out (as with David Benton) combined with some type of effect on the ripples to make them not just a straight colour, but smoother. Or perhaps
o You can either experiment with 2 external crescents + 1 on the edge of the central circle (the one with with arrow), ie similar to the base logo - OR you can experiment with 3 external crescents outside of the central circle, as David Benton did.
@Tini1 : your crescent in version 1.2 are definitely too thick. Centre circle and arrow: Tini1 the effect you used on the top design (slight bevel?) is an interesting option.
@David Benton : same thing, your crescents are a bit too thick – perhaps with smoothing effect into white the same thickness will look about right.

Hey guys,
Thanks for your efforts so far.
We like different things in different logos, so we'll try to explain like that so that you can understand where we are coming from.
For the font: SkyV seems to have found the exact same font as in our base logo. Please keep the last 'e' in EDGE in capital (upper case). But keep the A from Social in lower case. I.e. a and not A.
Font colors: "Social" in dark blue (same color as the centre of the logo image) and "edge" in black, similar to SkyV's.
Centre: We prefer the basic and in dark blue (with no effects on it) but make sure that the arrow is centred (i.e. equal distance from sides of circle on all sides). The arrow should be pointing upwards slightly as with tini1's, not pointing almost towards sky like in Elogonics'.
Ripples: The best ripples are those with two crescents, one with opening facing right and one with opening facing left. Thin as we said before rather than very thick. Djaka has the best example of this. They should be in lighter blue than the centre. But not quite as light as Djakas.
Positioning of image in logo: The bottom of the ripples should fall behind the top of the FONT 'social edge' . So that the font is overlapping them in the foreground partially.

Thanks for the new posts ladies and gentlemen :)… please keep posting your ideas and feel free to experiment around the guidelines we’re giving.
Feedback on last posts:
-Giant: You have a bit too much space between the circle and the ripples (crescents)
-Elogonics: You still have the last ‘e’ in lower case, instead of upper case. Please read last feedback :)
-In general: The arrow isn’t centred, it needs to looks like it’s placed in the centre of the circle.
-Remember SOCIALEDGE should be in the foreground with logo in the background; on some logos it looks like it's the other way around :) The ripples need to be fading behind the font, so they need to be a more lighter/ faded blue when they go behind the font. (i.e. Elogonics your ripples are too dark).
Additional input/ideas:
-it could be good to see more of a fade on the ripples/crescents to make them stand out more. Have them fading from a somewhat dark blue through to light blue at the ends of the crescent for example. Experiment with what you can do with them.
-Try having the image (centre and circles) positioned so they go lower down into the font
If you have questions or feel like something should be explained more clearly, please do let us know !
Thanks ! :)
