What type of product or service do you offer?
This is a collaborative woman’s career transformation project designed for women over 50 to advance women’s economic success through a comprehensive program.

• expand and increase your career and job opportunities
• advance your professional development
• increase your financial security

How long have you been in business?
This is a pilot project being offered through a collaboration of a non-profit, a university and a government agency. The pilot project is launching this month.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Attract participants, volunteer mentors and additional funders.

What are your long term goals?
National expansion to serve more women and reduce the economic distress of older women by making them more self-sufficient and prosperous.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
August 6

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
By our mission, our participants will be women 50 years old and older. We believe many of our women see themselves (regardless of their actual circumstances) as middle to upper class. We don’t want women to think that this is a program for severely disadvantaged or poverty level participants as the program presumes a high level of literacy and functioning successfully in the world, perhaps just the need or desire to reskill for higher technology or to identify new opportunities to earn money or change career.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
n/a

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Something clean and professional and simple and consistent with attracting our ideal audience

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No – open to designer’s recommendation

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
See above in audience profile.

What is your tagline or slogan?
None yet

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Energy, optimism, new beginnings, NOT OLD

Where will your new logo be used?
Website and printed materials

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
No competitors in this space, we will be partnering with other organizations

List competitive URLs if possible
n/a

What sets you apart from your competitors?
n/a

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
reinvention

Hi,
here's my entry. =)

Creative Rationale:
Butterflies are known to symbolize metamorphosis (think a caterpillar hibernating in the cocoon and then re-emerging as a beautiful butterfly), thus they represent transformation and renewal.

The "i" in "project" has a dotted line to the butterfly, this symbolizes that the butterfly has moved on from it's original place, representing movement and progress.

Purplish pink is chosen as it is a feminine color, in color psychology it symbolizes sophistication (appealing to those women thinking that they belong to middle-upper class). The green is a color that means growth and renewal.

Sorry for the delay, wanted to get feedback consolidated from the rest of the leadership team.

Liked dotted line and font. Concept ok, but not wowed by it. Prefer a dragonfly to the butterfly, we're looking for a stronger symbol for strong women.
Regarding the colors, overall too soft and bland. Green too weak, would prefer something darker green or blue-green and maybe darker purple.

Also open to completely new concept. Thanks for providing us with something tangible so can give feedback.

Flag of hope :)

Initial impressions only: I liked this, because strong statement, particularly in the black version, but then on second thought was concerned that we don't want it to look like image for a feminine hygiene product. Not crazy about color purple. Will get feedback from the rest of the leadership team and have some more constructive comments.

Could you make the following adjustments to the design?

Reduce the size of the numeral 2 (the text size for project second act is fine)

Add the TM

Add more space between second and act

Adjust the shape of the woman's profile so less of a "bulge" at the top of her head, thus making it a cleaner outline

I'm out of town and having trouble getting consistent access to
the internet. Sorry for the delay in getting this message posted.

I want to provide further feedback to the designers and request several updates so we can make a final selection, but having trouble reaching the rest of my team since I'm out of town.

I have sent a request to the administrator to extend deadline.

Please check back early next week for feedback (Monday most likely.) Thank you for your great work and creativity and patience with our review cycle.

Feedback to Wynlim:
Would prefer either a dragonfly or even more modern looking butterfly. Please refer to prior feedback on colors.

Feedback to unorthodox:
Figure of woman ok, but don't like on flag background. Like text . Don't like color, prefer blues and greens.

Feedback to Blesseville
Initial reaction was positive, loved the strong statement, but after living with it for awhile the members of our leadership team thought the $ was too strong and would make people think we were only about financial planning for women, and not the more comprehensive holistic arenas of work and life we offer.

Feedback to djaka:
Thank you for the adjustments, still have a problem with the bump in the women's head that's formed by the initial stroke of the 2. Is there a way to adjust that please?

Please move the trademark symbol to after the word ACT.

In terms of size of the 2 image, version C is the closest. It could be even a little larger (same height as the Project Second Act text?) Right now it's a little smaller and on the smaller version of C it's not easy to see the shape.

Variation question: What would it look like if the 2 symbol were to precede Project and be on the the same line?

Feedback to Titania:
Like text. Don't like color, prefer blues and greens. Would like to see a different image than the current flower. More stylized and modern perhaps, could be something other than a flower too.

Feedback to Artemi:

Like color and text, but don't like the image. Appears to be resting and pointing downwards which is the opposite of the forward looking and active image we'd like to convey.

Thanks to everyone for your submissions. Please feel free to submit questions if I can clarify to save you time on your revision prep. Hope to make final selection on August 19 as scheduled.

Winner Announced!

Sorry for the delay in posting. There was much spirited discussion on the leadership team with many of the designs having very strong advocates and intense lobbying. Thanks to each of the designers who submitted for creating such excellent work.

Since we can only use one logo, we have selected Artemii 's version 2.0 with the butterfly breaking out of the box in the green and blue and black and white versions. Please forward asap, as we want to update our brochure with the new logo. I am assuming this is a work for hire situation, please confirm that back as well.

Also have a question as to what font you used for the words Project Second Act. If that is a standard or easily available font, we might want to use it in some of our related print and web materials as appropriate.

Thanks again, and if you could get us the files back today before my graphic person creating the brochure leaves town for a week that would be even more perfect. If that's not possible, please send when you can. Thanks,

Terry
