Company Info:
King Scott
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
King Scott (for sure)
What type of product or service do you offer?
Everything (EVERYTHING!) for the 'back of the house' at pet grooming shops as well as vets, kennels, etc... - clippers, scissors, dryers, accessories, and shampoos/chemicals.
How long have you been in business?
15 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
The name King Scott is a surviving name from several businesses ago, and doesn't exactly scream 'Groomer Supply Products'. We would like the new logo to tie the name King Scott into a more obvious connection to our industry from a visual standpoint.
What are your long term goals?
Establishing some brand identity for our business
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
August 31, 2007
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Pet store owners, head groomers, buyers for mid size and larger chains, vets, kennels
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Internet shoppers, mail order customers, and possibly franchisees
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
The primary distinguishing factor for King Scott as a company is friendly, hands-on service. We offer personal delivery in an industry taken over by drop shippers, and personal on-site sales calls from people who understand the customer's specific needs instead of phone based order takers. The logo should be simple, friendly, and a little Web 2.0-ish - basically, iconic. A good example might be the Sirius dog, and the PetCo dog/cat logo.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Not really - something friendly and fresh. Something that looks good in color and black and white.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
The only way I can think of to get the name and the 'pet' idea connected is to use the obvious elements - a crown and a Scottie dog (Scottish Terrier - they have a very distinctive profile) in some way. Maybe a star or something that would indicate the 'American made products' angle. I would like to see an attempt at this angle, but then again you are professional designers so you may have a better idea and we are open to other ideas. What we are not looking for is 'wood cut' looking pictures of dogs, or anything that looks like it would go on a sweater your grandmother would wear.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Friendliness, Trustworthiness, Honesty, Dependability
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That our company is a professional business that offers something a little different than our competitors - namely, personal service and a return to the old way of doing business. We sell quality, American made supplies, not the Made in China stuff that the larger supply houses sell - King Scott = American made products.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, shirts, catalog, possibly private labeled groomer supplies
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Pet Edge - VERY corporate, screams 'big' and impersonal
List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.petedge.com
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Personal service, friendliness and honest business
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Trust us - we will take care of your needs. We are always a phone call away, and feature quality American made products.
