Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
KABOOM! The Incredible Toy Store
This is an attempt to refine/update a logo that was a project in 2005. http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9052&highlight=kaboom

I want to keep the badaboom font for Kaboom! so that it will have stand alone value, but I would like the logo to include more color so that it will really pop on a website and tshirts etc. If you really think Badaboom font isn’t working for you please make a suggestion.
The following links are logos we like the look and feel. www.mikasounds.com
Our wrapping paper is retro 50’s/60’s concentric circles in the same colors as this site. I love the circles, gears, and colors. It’s very important for the logo to reflect retro.

I love the colors and the “explosive” look of the Peter Max poster, The Different Drummer, found at www.Petermax.com.
I could imagine Kaboom! With stars, circles generating from it.
Unable to copy picture here.

What type of product or service do you offer? KABOOM! carries toys, books, novelty candy, comics and retro toys. Our store has splatter painted walls, and the carpet has comic expressions, pow, zap, etc. Employees wear multicolor Chuck Taylors. TVs play Boomerang(old cartoons). We have a wall of bulk retro candy including everything from zotz, to candy cigarettes, and whirl pops; a garden scale train overhead, and toys from Slinky dogs to Erector. Books range from Dick and Jane to the recent Harry Potter release. We are a specialty toy store with a twist.

How long have you been in business? Two years

What are your long term goals? We are launching a website that includes e-commerce, and currently have a catalog.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience?
Parents, and children through young adult

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? Fun, colorful, powerful, but not violent

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo?
lime green, purple, yellow, red-orange, fushia and turquoise blue

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
retro feel, 50’s/60’s early psychedelic era

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? Lots of fun, but parents trust

What is your tagline or slogan? The Incredible Toy Store

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
A store where children and adults will be entertained, and enjoy bringing children to shop.

Where will your new logo be used?

In-store, online, bags, print ads, t-shirts, hats, and imprintable toys.

Thank you for your submissions!

I really liked how you captured the retro feel. Really fun. Can you use the badaboom font and try it without the rainbow, and make the stars multicolor. Although it seems the first time I opened the forum "The Incredible Toy Store" wasn't a part of the logo, could you drop that for now. Black in the outline and less black in the body of the logo. We all like the look. Thanks!

We love the shooting stars, and the big one from the O. We have collectively decided that we want to downplay the gears and focus on the stars and colorful concentric circles. Thanks for using the Badaboom. The colors are right on, except could you make the yellow and green brighter, and try "Kaboom" in another color.Maybe bright blue?
Version 2 looks more balanced, but I like the placement of the large shooting star in Version1.
Thanks for both! :)

I apologize for not being more responsive. I have been out of town and have had limited access to the internet. I hope to respond to all by tomorrow PM.
We really are impressed with the different options. Overall we want the logo to be a burst. A store/website exploding with fun. We use "Have a Blast at Kaboom!" as a tagline in our ads. We also want to use the badaboom font. Our existing logo can be found at www.kaboomzone.com. We are in the process of redoing the site. The logo doesn't have much power behind it. Hopefully the logo can incorporate "zone" in the future for the site.
Thanks for the the great response. Back to you all soon.

I have chosen some pantone colors that roughly match the colors we use. I used the site www.d-zignsinc.com. If you could use these colors with purple yellow green and orange
primarily and magenta and blue as secondary colors.
801 Blue
802 Green
803 Yellow
806 Magenta
811 Orange
246 Purple

Thanks :)

Pracus,
I like version 2 better. Could you try this version with the colors above?
Thanks!

Love the colors and the movement! Could you use the Badaboom font? We're not sure about the circles in the background. Maybe fewer and solid, maybe asymetrical, since the burst is centered. Could the stars look as if they are eminating from the design.
Thank you :)

I like the look, but have to stick to the badaboom font.
It has a great retro feel, but could you use the same effect vertically instead of horizontally. The brighter colors are perfect.
Keep the star on the exclamation point. We love that added detail.
Thanks!

Like version 2. Can't decide on the black. It did add strength. Tough choice.
We all would like to try it without the wavy projection and make it a star point. Maybe try the bolder colors mentioned above and could you pick a color for "Kaboom!" Purple? Like the cloud and star integration. Currently we do have Kaboom on a cloudburst.

Thanks! :)

I like the new icons you use, especially the shooting stars, but could you make the icons more centered behind and around "Kaboom". Make the shooting stars look as if they are coming out of the text. We're not sure about the yellow circles as the background. Could you omit it in the next version.

Thanks! :)

We like the swelled effect of "Kaboom", and colors.
We had two thoughts for changes.
Could you do a version that uses the Kaboom text as it is, keep the stars, and omit the circles and the drips and tagline and adds one or two more stars.
Could you do another version that uses the Kaboom text as it is, drop the stars, circles and put it on a backgound that instead of the drips is a splat of colors. Our walls are all splatter painted and our logo now sits on a cloudburst. The splatter is more fun.
Thanks! :)

Thanks for the new versions, but we all strongly agree to keep the Kaboom! exactly as it is in the first version, stretched in the middle and in the purple yellow and orange. That looks great.
We wanted to keep that and try agaiin with the stars only as you just submitted. The splatter effect we also wanted with the same Kaboom! text effect with a splatter or splat behind it that looks as if it is eminating from the Kaboom!
Thanks for your time.

Thank you for all of your time and effort. We have decided to go with djaka's logo style. It revises our old logo without making a huge departure from the current overall style.
It's horizontal layout also makes it compatible with our intended use on our website.
Thank you again. :)

Im waiting for feedback from others here, (it's the weekend)... Could the splat with several colors use a lime green and a bright yellow instead of the yellow and green used, and a fushia instead of the pink. Can you take out the lines on the side, of all of the versions. Do you have a favorite look?

Version 5 and the splat are our favorites. The simple version 5 works when there is a lot of graphics on an ad, website etc. We would like to make the splats in 3C R1 the same colors you use in 3BR1, to use on t-shirts etc.
If we would like you to do the same effect to "Kabooomzone" as the simple "Kaboom" for our website, www.kaboomzone.com, which is urgent, but how do we go about it? We would like you to do it, but that seems like an element. We are opening a newsite at the end of the week with an old logo.
