Here are a few more ideas/thoughts/examples that can tell you what I have in mind...
J/Invoke is a software library for Java programmers - it helps call Windows DLLs (native code) very easily.
Without J/Invoke, Java programmers cannot easily call Windows DLLs - they need to write C/C++ code which is very hard to do
J/Invoke makes them call the DLLs 'directly' just by declaring and calling - in pure Java code.
The name is inspired from "P/Invoke" - which is an equivalent technology for .NET calling DLLS (not for Java).
It is in the category of "Interoperability software" - kind of a "software bridge"... bridging from Java to native code in this case
it is cross platform - works wherever Java works... on UNIX it lets people call UNIX and C API from Java without writing intermediate JNI/C++ code
think of it as a glue from Java to DLLs
or a bridge
or jigsaw pieces fittting together
one similar product is called JNIWrapper - their logo shows a cup and saucer - the cup represents Java (Java logo is a coffee cup) and saucer is shaped like a Windows DLL icon - see it here: http://www.teamdev.com/images/billets/jnilogo.jpg
One more player in a related field (don't like calling them competition, they're in a slightly different field in interop)
http://j-integra.intrinsyc.com/images/jilogos/GIF/transparent/j-integra_logo.gif
one more called "JNBridge - spanning Java and .NET - http://www.jnbridge.com/
The name of the company launching this product is "ByteBlend" - it will make interoperability/bridging software - in a sense ity is "blending bytes (code) from otherwise incompatrible systems)
One more idea for J/Invoke ... make the slash(/) as a lightning bolt... it represents 'invoke'...
I like the logo here too... http://www.jetbrains.com/

Hi,
http://pvdesign.com.sapo.pt/jinvoke/originall_jinvoke3.png
Want to see some more variants with the lightning bolt in the place of slash (/)
... would like to see it in the colors of JetBrains logo
http://www.jetbrains.com/img/logo.gif
Liked elogonics Version 1 and Blesseville's idea so far.

Cool, I think that's a lot of lightning bolts!
Now open for something different - I like the lightning bolts, but my partners are looking for something else.

elogonics,
Version #1 is missing the slash(/)
Can you attempt to have the slash as well in that logo?
Thanks,

Blesseville, can you give different color options for your Version 2.0
Logoholic, thanks for V1! can you try another idea without the lightning?

Castell,
the integration with the interlocking O's is looking a bit forced/unnatural. Can you try something else?

A union of two items:
Can the deadline be extended by a week for this? I'd like to see more options.
Project Update: The project deadline has been extended to Sept 12th
... it was tough to decide among Blesseville, ELogonics and Logoholik- everyone who saw the logos liked all of them ... thank you guys!
We've decided to go ahead with Logoholik's design (Message #18)
I really liked Elogonic's design - but adding the '/' made it not look as good as his first version.
Blesseville - it was neck to neck - i really liked you logo too and it was a strong contender. Thank you for the options and quick response!
Thanks to all who participated!
Logoholik - you're our winner, again!

PROJECT UPDATE: This thread has been moved to Logo Project Archives.
Hi Logoholik,
Can you try adding the following tag line with the logo:
easy Java native interoperability
Thanks

Here it is.
http://www.logoholik.com/do/logoholik_jinvoke_02.jpg
That looks great!
Can you pack up the files and send them to me, and also email/fax the copyright transfer?
Also, if can you make the psd/ai files such that we can change the tag line (i.e. don't convert the text to outlines), I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you for another great logo!

Ok. I will pack your files again...
In order for you to change tagline you have two options:
1. I send you my v2 of logo and link to font used which you have to purchase to be able to edit it.
2. I send you v3 where i used arial narrow (system font - you probably have it)
http://www.logoholik.com/do/logoholik_jinvoke_03.jpg
Let me know your decision.
Cheers,
Bojan
Hi,
The Version #3 option using Arial font sounds good to me.
Thanks,
tsg
