Hello Folks
Ryan from MooseGuts Theatre here. Due to the amazing qualitiy of work that I have seen here on this site, the Improv/Sketch Comedy Troupe that I work with here in Toronto have decided to post a contest to brand our comedy troupe - Tonto's Nephews.
The contest is for $75 and the closing date will be September 29, 2003 at 5pm.
The only information that we will release for the contest is:
Who: Tonto's Nephews Theatre
What: Improv/Sketch Comedy
Where: Toronto, ON Canada
Why: Cuz they are really funny...and bored...and not good at much else
How: The show is live, energetic, fun, thoughtful, and intelligent, and always promises to go on a fantastic adventures that could never be imagined
Thanks for your time and efforts.
Ryan
Tonto's Nephews
How far can we go with the Native aspect? Are there sacred places we may or may not tread? With a name like Tonto, I could have some fun with native images... how far can I go?

Hello
Hahahahahahaha...hence the name. Tonto's Nephews is all about the boundaries...pushing them that is. We always try and walk on the fine line. So should you.
One saying that one of our troupe members used about what we are looking for is K.I.S.S. (keep it simple stupid). KISS is an improv term not a shot at the designers.
Have fun.

Nice designes , Ryan was working with you before ,and now I will take a wack at it . There are some things I have been thinking about . I am the one who wants the logo to be simple . while the others you have designed are great I feel they are too much. Think of the nike swish or the peacock at N.B.C. the logo's are simple and yet when you see it you know what it is right away . you don't need to make the logo funny or try to make a message with it . In the native community the name Tonto already gets people interested the name already is a political statement. The less colors the better and in fact the medicine wheel uses only the four colors Black white red and yellow the four colors of man. maybe two dimentional .Hopefully this helps you out .
Here are a few designs...

like the designes the first is the closest, perhapes you could revers the two corners of the circles to make it look as though it a T and an N then a upside down t and N not so sure about the feathers but love the colors . keep up the good work
herbie
Herbie,

thanks for jumping on that Love the T And the N that is what we will keep I think . that stood out but the logo is really important to us so I hope you understand us being a pain in the *** . what we asked ryan to do was to put the Idea out there to see what people could come up with and you have given us great examples . so maybe think about what our first idea was . Take the tonto's head make it one color maybe two at the most, maybe profile and have him laughing . I know easy to say not easy to do
good luck
Herbie
I'm not real sure what you are asking for...

closer. way, way closer. great work . again love the T and the N but could you seperate them just a tiny bit also drop the indian head lower so they are two different things and like the black and white head of John Smith (A.K.A. Tonto) but don't think we could use it .Might not be public domain and besides we know his real family could get akward. can you give us a sketch of a generic tonto. again one color and give us the T and the N in black and white .
sorry if all this is unclear first time trying this out
Thanks
Herbie

Hi,
Here is my entry. Simple, 2-colors logos.
I tried to mix the indian and the theatre theme. You can also use indian as a amscot seperately.

hello everybody
we at tonto's Nephews still haven't found what we are looking for . kudos on your effort .I want to make this as clear as I can. I need a simple logo something that people can Identify easily. Indain motercycle head ,The Golden Arches of MacDonalds . what we need is a tonto that is ours not the actual person but a symbol of Tonto. Not a stereotype or John Smith(who is the actor who played tonto)but a face that is all ours . These are going onto hats and invatations to shows, so we need something that make people say " great here is another tonto's Nephews Thing". all that in a symble. If this helps more of the Chicago Black Hawks then the Cleavland Indians. We need to have a classy face to contradict the name . we do a lot of traviling and want to have something that people can see is both classy and edgy. Still like the T and the N maybe in black and white or all white or black. This means the deadline is extended for a while a while longer.

Something like this? Or is this taking things too far in the other direction? If this is too plain, I could try to work an Indian head into it.

Close. Nice work. Let's see the last design without the feather and a leather strap to tie the braid of hair. It would be great to see that Indian Figure in mid laughter...ya know...the kind of laugh that you have when a friend, or yourself, snort during laughter. We are talking belly laugh. Let's see what you can do.
Again, nice work.

Dynagirl
I think Herbie meant to ask you - what kind of Indian head you could put on the last design that you submitted. Could we see him laughing or winking?
Thanks for your amazing work so far.

Were your comments about alternate colors for the lettering referring to the TN on the shield or the full name?

nice work !! can you please give us longer feathers but keep the name and the T and N seperate . Can you give me the circle and the T and the N in different colors just to see what it would look

O.K.
please try not to be mad at us but I feel it's important we get what we want ,and we haven't yet. although you all have given us so much . the thing we like is the T and the N that Dynagirl gave us and the Hamlet thing that Mehmetsaygin only for the reason that it shows somewhat of what we do , it two dimentional , so easy to turn into a two color cap logo not that we want a two color logo but it should be easy to make it so . don't do another Shakespear imagage but we do do improv and writen comedy shows like "who's line is it anyways" and "saturday night live" "mad t.v" we do want a tasteful touch of the fact we are Native not Cartoon . have I messed you up yet good luck

Hello Folks
Thank you to all people that have posted for this contest. We have thought long and hard about what we want for our companies logo and we have seen some amazing options.
The option we have selected as the winner is Kalvinhobs' designs. The design with the Skull/Actor is great. We likes. Congrats to you Kalvinhobs.
Thank you to Dynagirl for letting Kalvinhobs use the TN from your design. We are not sure how to proceed with getting the design transfered over to the other logo. Kalvinhobs, since Dynagirl has given the green light for this can you transfer it over. If I have misunderstood the post then please advise.
Kalvinhobs, please PM me so that we can talk about getting the designs touched up a bit. We would like to see how we can incorporate that TN to the design.
Thanks again to the folks at Designoutpost.com for their outstanding work and fast and friendly service. This sight rocks.

Woow, surprising.I was thinking that you didn't like it.Anyway, thanks
Now, thinking that I miss it, I didn't follow latest posts and I have no idea about Dynagirl's design. And now I can't see those images, just red Xs.
So if it is not a problem for Dynagirl, maybe someone can send it to me.
Ryan, I will send you a pm asap.
