We're upgrading our software delivery from a simple CD jewel case to a DVD case + nice cover to offer more of a boxed-product look. It's a standard DVD case that uses a single sided insert that covers front, back, and spine of the case. (7 and 1/4 inches tall X 10 and 7/8 inches wide). I need something that communicates that this is a quality product, and will make help make our customers excited when they get it in the mail. It will also be used to display the product online on our website and reseller's websites.

The company name is Freedom Software and the product is presentation software for churches called "Worship Him". Think PowerPoint in a church setting.

We don't really have a slogan but I have used "Fast, easy, and affordable".

Product website: www.worship-him.com

Product logo: http://www.worship-him.com/logo.gif
- definitely must be incorporated.

Our site targets pastors, worship leaders/musicians, and those in charge of computer operations at churches. Graphics I would expect to see could include a laptop computer, data projector/screen, a worship service in progress IE: people singing - hands raised, misc Christian imagery etc. Use your imagination though - these are just a few things off the top of my head. I also don't want it to be too busy - I like clean and elegant.

Deadline: Oct 18th
Deliverables: Honestly, I'm not sure how this will work but I'm assuming I'll get a single graphic in GIF, BMP, or whatever that I can print and that will come out the right size when I print it. Any advice appreciated here.

Looking forward to your ideas! - I have always been thrilled with the work I've gotten done here.

Thanks - Woodie Morris

hi... do you have text/copy for the back of the cover?..

Not yet - I'll get something for you soon. I'm thinking a list of benefits the software gives like save time, ... Open to ideas too. The back should also have an empty spot for a sticker with the registration/unlock key.

Thanks for bringing this up.

OK, Here's some copy for the back cover. I'll want the main points highlighted in bold so I've also included the copy as an attatched Word document. Also open to suggestions.

Worship Him is specifically designed for the special presentation needs of churches. Worship Him’s intuitive design and powerful toolset make preparing and executing a worship service fast fun and easy, all while producing top quality results.

Preparing for a service is fast and easy:
No need to create slides, simply select your songs from a list ahead of time or ‘on the fly’.
Bible verses and other media items like pictures, video clips, DVD clips, etc can easily be selected before the service or on the fly.
Easily import new songs from CCLI’s Song Select software or Lyric Service, and Integrity Software 3.0-3.5.
Typing in new songs is easy also with as-you-type spell checking and projector-line-length indicators.

Worship Him’s dual-monitor design makes executing your service so easy it’s fun. Your song’s verses are spread out before you, - just click on the one you want or execute a pre-arranged order by clicking ‘Next’ buttons.
Other media items like pictures or video clips are just a double-click away if you pre-selected them, or just browse or drag and drop them from Windows explorer.

Wide range of media supported: Songs, bible verses, announcements, sermon points, PowerPoint, pictures, video clips, audio clips, Shockwave/Flash, DVD player + clips, and a CD player with support for playlists and shuffle. Worship Him even features a built-in sound recorder for recording sermons, etc.

PowerPoint integration means you can easily use PowerPoint for your announcements and sermon points.
Don’t have PowerPoint? No problem. Worship Him has its own announcement/sermon point creation tool with looping capability. AND you can even edit songs, etc while your announcements are running!

Easily transfer songs and media files from one computer to another with Worship Him’s suitcase pack/unpack.

Victor:

I like it a lot, the colors are right-on, it's not overly busy, and the back works well. How about a couple short bullet-points in the empty-white part of the front like:
Includes:
Site license
100+ backgrounds
7 Bible versions
Dual monitor support

I'd like to see if that would work without being to busy.

Here are the revisions you request.

Did you want some contact info on the back somewhere? I've added in the URL of your website just below the Pic on the laptop.

To answer your question about printing... will supply a Press Ready PDF and all you'll need to do is send this file to the printer of your choice.

Thanks,
Vic

Victor:

You're right, at least "Freedom Software" should be in there just above the website address I think. Also, take the http:// from the web address and maybe the web address and Freedom Software should be a little more pronounced?

Also - I just realized the DVD cases I have use inserts with square corners. I don't think the rounded corners of your design will work well with that - can you square them?

lastly - the bullet points and logo on the front look like they still need something, I'm not sure what, they just look a little 'tossed in'. Any ideas to spruce it up a little bit?

Thanks! -Woodie

I like that a lot. You've got a strong entry here, a potential winner for sure. I can't think of anything more to suggest, so I'll just wait to see what others come up with, and of course if you want to try some other ideas.

Victor - I like your design so you're the winner. Glad the one entry I got was a good one. No revisions are necessary, the only thing I'm not sure of is the file type you'll be giving it to me in. You mentioned PDF I think - that's good for if/when I go to a print service with it, but I'm not sure if that's what will work best for printing them myself. Is that what you'd recommend for printing on a home computer/printer? Can I request another format if that doesn't work for me?

Thanks - Woodie

Hi Woodie,

Thanks.. To anwser your questions I think a PDF file would work the best for both applications as it would reproduce the color in the file the best. You shouldn't have any problems with a PDF, however I would be happy to supply it in another format as well.

I will package up the artwork and send you the files tonight.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Thanks again,
Vic

Vic: I got the file and it looks great but I am having trouble printing it. It won't print to the correct size on my printer apparantly because of the lines that extend beyond the actual image from the corners. If I turn off page scaling in the print dialog I get an overall image size of 11.8 X 8.2 inches and part of the image get's cutoff when I print, and with page scaling on the usable part of the image is too small. I'm not sure what to do about it.

Thanks - Woodie

Design Outpost: Go ahead and pay the man.

Vic:
I got it to print OK by selecting a custom paper size in the printer's properties and selecting 'Fit to page' in the PDF print options, but I have to cut about 1/16th of an inch from the top and bottom when I cut it out. Is this normal, or am I doing it the hard way?

Hi,

I'm glad you got it to print ok. The PDF has a 1/8 bleed all around and contains trim marks that I believe are messing you up a bit... I have created a new pdf for you without bleed or crop marks that should work on your home printer just fine... Keep the original PDF as this is the file you would need to sent to a printing house/press.

I have sent you a private message with the link again.

Let me know how you make out.

Thanks,
Vic

Thanks Vic: That one prints from my printer great with no hassle. I'll keep both as you suggested - thanks much for a great job and for the help!
