Hi!
This is one of two contests, each for a different site. This one is for an anti-spam
not-for-profit (and it sure lives up to that so far!), which is why the contest amount
is kind of low, for which I apologize.
Our site is at:
http://www.isipp.com
What we need is:
1. A facelift for our current logo - we've just started getting some
national attention and so don't want to do a complete change to what
is becoming our brand. So we want to keep the basic concept of the
present logo, and definitely want to keep the colours - we just want
it to look ..you know.. better. :-)
(The logo is, by the way, the blue rectangle in the upper righthand
corner with our name in it, the concept of the big swish "S" with the
arrows is to suggest dataflow, two-way communication, and such - we
don't want to lose that - we will
probably want to keep the navbar below it as is, at least for now,
although that isn't absolutely necessary if someone comes up with a
great logo which won't work well with it.)
2. A banner to replace the one on the home page along the top, unless
you think that's a great banner and have the perfect logo to go
along with it.
3. A banner which is essentially the same as the one in #2 but just
slightly modified to go on lower level pages (I'm hoping that this
means it really isn't extra work - but is just a slightly altered
file of the banner in #2 - I'm not trying to get tons of work for a
tiny prize, honest!)
4. A logo for the product we are just now launching - Email
Deliverability Database ("EDDB"). You can read about EDDB on the
homepage, and at:
http://www.isipp.com/eddb.html
and
http://www.isipp.com/standards.html
Basically it's a database which allows email receivers (ISPs and spam
filters) and email senders to register their contact information, so if
either has a problem with the other, they can quickly determine whom to
contact to rectify the problem.
The EDDB logo should be separate and distinct from the primary ISIPP
logo, but should still make clear that EDDB is an ISIPP product.
The colours in the logo are as follows, according to PhotoShop:
Yellow:
R=255
G=204
B=0
C=1
M=19
Y=99
K=0
HTML colour #FFCC00
Blue:
R=0
G=0
B=100
C=100
M=98
Y=21
K=33
HTML colour #000064
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!

Hi Gilles!
Thank you so much for jumping on this - I do like the first logo quite a bit - the one which has the arrows encircling the Ps. The 2nd logo is a bit too trendy/breezy for the ISIPP site (but see my other contest, about the email deliverability site! :-)) ISIPP is an analysis and public policy firm, so that site needs a bit more of a conservative, "we are authorities and experts and know stuff" flavour (think, say, West Wing :-))
Is it possible to see that logo without the dot on the "i", and also maybe a couple of other versions?
I really like the banner concept - how would you modify it for subpages? And do you have any other somewhat similar, but, again, perhaps slightly more in keeping with the flavour mentioned above, banners (just so that we can have a couple of choices?)
Thank you!!!
Anne

Anne,
Thank you for your quick feedback. You're right, I think the banners are a littlle "techie" and for a younger "audience". It's good that you told us about the firm, now it's easier to think to future design concepts. For the banners, maybe it will be easier if you specify the exact dimensions you neen for both (pixels, inches). I think it will be easier to design them like that. I will post the change on the logo as you requested and in the meantime design a few more ;)
Best regards,
Gilles.

Hello, Gilles!
Gosh...I'll be honest, I really don't know what size the banners need to be...I do know that we force a size on our home page for the logo of "width=150" and "height=103",
and the banner is also "height=103" and width is 100%, because it takes up the rest of the top next to the logo. The banner we are using now, the angled view of the keyboard, stretches well, so we are able to do that. :-)
Again, if it's helpful, our site is at [URL=http://www.isipp.com]http://www.isipp.com]
Should I open the files in PhotoShop and try to figure out the actual size of the files?
The 2nd banner would be the same size, just, maybe, for example, the first one might have some kind of words on it (like "Institute for Spam and Internet Public Policy") and the subpage banner would be the same only without the words [I'm not requesting this, just showing how we're really asking for very similar banners - just one which is obviously for our home page, and the other for "not the home page" pages. :-)]
Thanks!

Hello Anne,
Thank you for the answers. I'm working to the 2nd version of banners, following your guidelines. Also, I'm working on the logos. Don't open the files, I'll be fine, I think I got the idea :)
I'm back to work! :)

Oops..as we play a bit with our items on our navbar, I am seeing that we may need to make it a bit wider, meaning our logo will need to be as well (we really like the way it looks to have the logo and navbar be the same width. It would be great if it scaled well, but we're probably looking at aboutt 150-175 width (as in "(img src=file.gif width=175)"
Ooh..look..a new post from Gilles! :-)

Hello Anne,
Here are the new designs&concepts. Let me explain them in a few words: the blue-brown catches the speed and communication, with multiple e-mails and messages (check the numbers in the rounded boxes). There is place for your website address, or just the name of your firm.
With the second one, and with your permission, I tried to illustrate your web site goal. People communicating securely, without the "threat" of spam mail. Then I tried to find a slogan to match the picture - people interaction&communication - and the goal of your website - communication free of spam. I can cahnge the colours, if these are not "the ones" for you.
The third is following with the same slogan, the image is flooded with zero's and one's, and one satisfied man - worldwide communication without spam.
And the logo is a variation of the initial logo, different font and a "letter" ;)
Best regards,
Gilles. :)

Hi Dynagirl!
I *really* like the logo, and the oval behind it, although I'm not keen on angularness of the S.
If you could pretty please work on the S, I'd love to see what other ideas you've got!
(And isn't anybody going to take up my other, eDeliverability contest? :-))

Hi Gilles!
I *love* the banners! Especially the first (says "anti spam") and the third (with the guy with the headset).
My favourite is the first (which says "anti-spam") - are you able to change the words from "anti-spam" to "Institute for Spam and Internet Publi Policy"?
Also, even though that is my favourite, the colours don't work as well as that of the third...the third has some yellow in it, which the site needs because it is heavy on the yellow in the logo (it's got a wide yellow margin down the left with our navbars). Any way to work some yellow into that banner instead of the brown?
I like the two logos, too - my favourite is the 2nd one (the one without the envelope, although I think the envelope is really neat - hmm..can you add the envelope which is dotting the "I" to the other one and see how that looks?
Finally, the blue in your logos is off for some reason ...I'm not sure what program you use, but are you able to sample the colours off our site?
Thank you!!

Anne,
Great to have such quick feedback :) First, I will do the changes in the first logo later today - that is replacing the text and changing the colours to yellow so they could mix with the entire site colour; I will do that to the second and the third (colours) - so yes, I will do all the changes you need. Also, for the logo, this is an interesting idea - I will work also on the change as you requested. I use Corel Draw for designing the logo, I don't know what happened but will work on that too.
And finally, I will take up the 2nd contest too, I don't wanna get rusty ;) . As soon as I finish the changes on 1st one, the second is on the way! :tup:
Best regards,
Gilles. :)

Gilles,
Thanks - I look forward to seeing the changes! Don't forget I posted the RBG and CMYK (and HTML) codes for the yellow and blue in one of my posts (or is that what you fed to Corel and it still came out that way? :-X ...Dynagirl's colours were fairly close, just so you know.)
>And finally, I will take up the 2nd contest too, I don't wanna get rusty . As soon as I >finish the changes on 1st one, the second is on the way!
Thank you! I'm actually really anxious to see some entries for that one, as it's exciting to be starting with it wide open, and such fun colours and concept (at least, I think so..but then, I would! :-) )
Thanks!

Hello Anne,
Here are the changes you've requested for..Firstly, the problem with the blue and the yellow is solved, the colours in the logo are the same with those on your site.
Secondly, the banners.. As you can see, I tried to give them a colour to mix with the original website colours. #3 has some more blue, I left the talking gentleman in blue.. I also included three of the banners along with the logo (containts latest changes, including font, but if you like the first font, I'll change the actual one) - in your site image. And this is how it looks, with a new face! :) I used all three banners and I think you can use #4 as a replacement, to appear for a few seconds or minutes (you can make the banners change from time to time from your website design program - like an animated banner). If you like them in the actual colours, you can have all three of them. Let me know what else you want me to change.
Best regards,
Gilles. :)

Gilles,
In looking harder, I realize that the blue in the logo is still not right - it's really too dark, and looks almost black when I look at the page mockups (Dynagirl - your blue is pretty much just right).
Thanks!

Anne,
I'll try and see what is wrong. I used the exact parameters that you gave in your first post..I'll see what I can do..
I've made a new banner, with more yellow, maybe you can use it on "deliverability" website or for isipp site, you decide. The logo is just as you wanted, without envelope; the website is with actual changes.

Gilles.

Hi Gilles!
I really like the latest view of the site - that banner is great!..I especially like the Institute name across the globe like that! Is it possible to extend the blue tones over a bit more to the right, and with the yellow tones that are left at the very right, to make them match the yellow tones on the other (left) end?
Good job on matching the blue of the logo! I'm torn between the one with the envelope and the one without - which one do you prefer? (And why? :-))
Thanks!

Anne,
Here are the changes you requested. I have slightly modified the banner, I think it looks ok now, with the blue and the yellow nuances..As far of the logo, I like both versions, I really don't know what to say :) . The one without the envelope is closer of your original design of logo, sa maybe you would prefer that one..Hope you'll like the changes. Tell me what else I can do for you.
Best regards,
Gilles.

New Banner :)
shedevil
09-30-2003, 07:24 AM
<laugh>...oh Gilles, don't kill me, but I actually *liked* the previous version of the banner - I just wanted the yellow on the right to match the yellow on the left (instead of being that kind of mustard brownish yellow), and for the blue to be extended a bit more to the right. But I really *liked* how in the other versions the blue faded to yellow, rather than there being a definite smooth line between the two (as there is in the newest one). If you can please make the transition from blue to yellow be a fade again, I think then voila!
And, don't forget the other logo from the contes! <sweet smile> Here's that part of hte original post, so that you don't have to look it up again:
4. A logo for the product we are just now launching - Email
Deliverability Database ("EDDB"). You can read about EDDB on the

Anne,
Here are the latest changes. The colours were tough to beat, my original design was saved with other nuances and the blue just wasn't right. But :) I think I got it this time :) and those nuances of blue are the same now. I also placed the word 'sending' in the email box, it creates an 'easier to understand' message, along with the 0's and 1's and the faded 'free of spam'. You can see the whole picture attached to your site. Hope you like it. If not, let me know what changes I can do for you. When you are pleased with the changes on this one, I could focus on your second contest. Some ideas for the banners are cooking as I write :) , and also for the logo..

Heheh...Hi Gilles! :-) That looks great, but I asked about replacing the orange with blue, and you replaced everything (including the yellow!) with blue? :-)
But aside from that, got an EDDB? logo? I have a feeling we're closing in on this contest. :-) Remember that the EDDB logo should imake clear that it's an ISIPP product, probably by looking like or incorporating the top logo (which I think is fine - both with and without the envelope - in fact if you win, am I allowed to use them both? Not sure on the rules there!)
Thanks!

I'm not sure I understand the question but here is a go at it. The designer is to provide what was originally requested from the contest holder in the first message. Anything above and beyond that would be for an additional fee that would be worked out through you and the winning designer.
shedevil
10-02-2003, 10:21 AM
Ok, thanks. That does answer the question - it just means that I have to choose between the two very similar logos from the same designer before ending the contest, and that's fine. Thanks!

Hello Anne,
I think I got the idea of EDDb logo now. I will work on a new version based on initial logo of Isipp logo. I will post it later today. In the meanwhile, maybe you can tell me where you want those blue nuances placed. Or maybe you like one of my recent banners from the other contest...I can adapt the idea to match this one.

Oh Gilles, I so appreciate it and am so sorry it's hard for me to explain..I wish I could just talk to you on the phone for a minute. :-)
See the orange banner? (The one you made blue?) See the left hand margin with the @ symbols? That area is yellow - if you keep that yellow, and keep the rings around the globe which are yellow - keep those yellow, but everything else becomes blue (it is presently orange), that's it!
Can't wait to see the EDDB logo!

Anne,
There are three banners posted in the other contest. Have a look at them and think about which one would you like to blend with anti-spam site. I can twist it to fit, I cannot tell what exactly I would do to change it, I like to keep the possibilities open...Maybe change the 2nd and the third..Sorry if I cannot help you as you would want me to..
