(Admin code added by Palmer - 078743F)

I am setting up a new ecommerce site,

The site will sell every consumer item from asia and you will be able to transulate every page viewed.

I would like a new modern look logo, it has to have an asian look with the wording. I want the logo to become a remembered brand, a brand that is viberant, colouful, modern, exciting.

The logo needs to have a symbol that can be used as a icon for desktops

This logo would also be used for biz cards, banners, letter heads, brochures, advertising, etc so would need to be in a format to do this.

So this is why I am posting this to you the experts for your vision and expertise so I hope you can help.

Hi there!

Does this new site have a name yet or should we just create a logo with that theme in mind! :)

Andy, you may try linking the designers to logos you like in our gallery...
http://www.designoutpost.com/gallery

That way they will have an idea of what you're looking for. Your comments regarding their entries are not exactly descriptive enough for them to design something you'll like. I'd hate to see them put all this work in and get very vague comments like "this is ok, it does nothing for me really, but I think it needs more work too!".

Are there any suggestions you could give to make it more what you're looking for? Any direction you can give them will assure you getting what you're after.

Thanks :)

I am sorry about me being vague, this is the first time I have done this! so I have taken your advice and searched the gallery. The artists I liked were Jdesign's 'Detroit Solutions1 & 2'. JulieT 'landscapeforums' also 2squares 'tekheads' and ubergereeks 'tekheads' better colours in this design. The best I liked was AdamP 'nine-e' and and pram 'fizzion and durango 95' . You have a lot of variety here to pick from, I hope this will help you better. I just want a fresh modern design, these designs I have picked are all professional looking and modern with a fresh feel.

If its possible to design the logo that also can be used as an icon, similar to AOL,MSN, I like colours oranges,yellows,reds, wording needs to be dark and bold if it can have an asian feel that would be good, but its not essential. Please submit your ideas I look forward to see them.
Also if you have better ideas than me tell me what you think?

eagle,
I like how you have blended the colours, I am sorry but the style of wording I do not like nor the map, I have submitted some designs to Palmer I thought they look really good. Take a look it might give you a better direction of what I want, I am sorry I am not more descriptive but if you look at the designs you will be on the right tracks. I hope you can come up with something!

That was very helpful Andy. Thank you. It's sometimes difficult to put into words what you're wanting them to design. Giving them an example to look at will put them in the right direction.

Good luck :tup:

Pennyln-thats more like it I like the top one it is very good great colours

and bottom one needs more colour looks a little plain

the middle one did nothing for me, but the wording is good, but the character does not look right.

But these designs are on the right tracks! Please keep them coming!!

These designs are great they really got me buzzing!,

Elkootcho the dragon is just not doing it for me, it looks more like a tatoo than a design for a shopping web site, an I mean no offence by that either!, but the colours are good, but may need to think of an emblem to go with the logo.

2square, this is great I think the shopping bag is a great theme with 4 inside looks great, the wording is a little plain but the colours are really good, I like the second one better, but the top ones colours are more like it, oranges, yellows reds, to me resembles ASIA they say it the land of the rising sun! its a warm continent and these colours are great I think, but I am open to suggestions too.

Dynagirl, the wording is great, but the 'chinese junkboat' not really goes with a shopping theme, I do not know maybe I am wrong have a look at 2squares theme with a shopping bag now that looks good!.

Eagle that design is great but the wording style sorry the styles were better in your last entry, but the grey colour is interesting that could work. I like the shopping bag in 2 squares with your design in it could be interesting, would like to see something like that.

Thanks everybody the designs are getting very hot! its good the competition is hotting up! keep them coming!.

Eagle- they look good but see if you can show me that design in the shape of a shopping bag? or look at 'Radical seeds' new entry he has got a great idea going their, I like that one a lot. still keep them coming Eagle!

Pennylane- these are good is the first one a fortune cookie? it looks like one to me or I could be wrong!, see if you could use either a shopping bag similar to '2squares' design or look at 'Radical seeds' new entry how he has incorporated a shopping trolley into the design. Keep them coming though try and incorporate a shopping bag or shopping cart?

Radical seed- you are smoking! with this one I like it alot! I am not sure now seeing other designs if the asian writing will work, but how you have incorporated the shopping cart over the sun I like that theme, very good keep them coming!

Again thanks everyone you are all true competitors! keep it up, your designs are great its making my job hard picking one between you all.

[B]Pennylane- these are great the top one needs to 'grow on me more' but the other 2 are very good, the shopping bag looks good, '2square' has got you all thinking on the right themes. But they maybe to big on the web page but I do like them, keep them coming!

Eagle- that design looks good and with a shopping bag this could work, but sorry the wording styles are not working! maybe I am being to fussy! but a brand needs to be strong! remembered! it's a sales point of a business good branding! just needs a liitle more creativity on a style for the lettering. keep them coming

But the designs are getting good, top class everyone keep your ideas coming.

Radical seed- very good! I think your on the right tracks with your designs, could you show the shopping cart into a icon? Maybe try a different colour for the letters the red lettering looks good but would like to see variations. The circle does not look right, but that shopping cart is great theme, keep your ideas coming thanks!

Thanks for the feedback andy.

I don't want to spoil the fun and I'm a true believer in that the contest holder should get what they want, but I would like to remind everyone that if a particular idea of a design which has been submitted by a designer has been asked to be used in your own design then it's only fair to ask that designer if you could use it.

Thanks

Sorry 2 square! I do not want to upset anyone, but blame me I thought your design was on the right lines its a shopping site, and incorporating the shopping bag was very clever!. I just wanted that idea to inspire the others and give them ideas of where I want them to go with this theme. Please do not give up and keep posting your ideas, they are all getting interesting, picking one will be the hard part!

Eagle very interesting, very different, the emblem is great keep that! but try different ideas on the lettering, maybe try some different colours, I know I said previously it could work in that shade but it's just not doing anything for me, sorry! but please keep in there.

Kalvinhobs- These will give the others a new direction, I think these are fantastic really fresh and modern, the ones on the left have much better wording more cleaner lines in the styles, the colours are good too! which one I like the most I do not know. I think if you could try more colours in the bags to see which could work the best. But very good I think you are on the right tracks, seems 2square's original design has you all thinking on the right lines now. Please keep posting you designs. I would like to see also the shopping bag in an icon design?

Raja- this is very professional like it very much too! I think the shopping cart in the circle is just what I like, I do think Radical seeds design is better but yours is great too. But it has to work with the rest and I think your wording is better than Radical seeds lettering but everyones standard is very high!. Could the circle be used as a icon design too!

if anybody else would like to throw their hats into the ring please do, thanks again everyone the designs are of the highest quality and standard this design, I say again keep with the shopping cart! and the shopping bag you will be on the right tracks, no more dragons, or junks, they just do not work for the theme of my site.

Everyone try different colours if needed, in your designs. I know I had said previously about reds, yellows, oranges, makes me think of Asia but maybe I need a direction and the use of other colours tell me it could work in the designs. Kalvinhobs has set a new platform and I do like his designs for a first time entry but all your designs are good.

quick replys for the last 2 entries,

Eagle:- this is quite different to your last entries I think I need to look properly at them to give you more ideas of what I want. But I promise I will tomorrow! Keep in there do not lose patience with me!
Dynagirl:- thanks this is really good too, I like the colours you have used very creative, the wording I do not know if the chinese themed writing works for me but still very good. I know I wanted it to have an asian feel, but now seeing some of the designs the asian writing I think does not look quite right but maybe I am wrong!, I will give you a better remark tomorrow on your ideas, but please do not give up!.
Thanks everyone for todays entries but I do think Radical seeds is the best I have seen so far but I like also the shopping bag theme too. My god this is hard, its a competition for you guys and ladies, but it s hard to judge to pick a winner too. keep them coming though do not give up anyone who as entered!!

Hi,

Yes, fresh and modern, that was what I wanted you feel when you see the logo B)
Anyway, now bag is in 2 colors, I add darker tones.That makes us read "4" better.

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/asfc1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/asfc2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/asfc5.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

I also want you to show the bag as an icon and want to show new versions of the logo.So I used the "green" color which is my favourite for this logo and made some changes;

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/afsgreen.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

I think simplicity is very important for a shopping logo and it is better not to touch the first idea much :D

Best,

andy66
09-30-2003, 11:20 AM
Kalvinhobs:- These designs are very good, as I had said before these look really good, better than the other style you did. I like all 5 colours picking one would be hard for me. I do not know if the slanted version looks good, the shopping bag I do like. But I would like if you could make the 4 look more like a 4 but keep it in the theme and style you have created. I do not know if to add a slogan " like Raja hasdone in a previous design" but please do not use his, I did not write that! Raja added that himself. But maybe you could add a saying or quote underneath the design. I will let you decide what works! look forward to see the changes.

Radical Seed:- the icon works could you try different colours for the circle design, I would like to see all different shades of colour to give it different looks. See how Kalvinhobs has tried different colours to give the design different looks. Could you do the same?

Eagle:- I promised to give you a reply today!, this design is very futuristic maybe a little to much! but very different to your previous work. But the different colours work, gives the design more aspects I think. Now I have seen different colours used in the designs I hope everyone will try to show different colours in their updated or new entries.

Again everyone thankyou for you designs, please keep them coming but everyone keep with the shopping theme! ie: show a shopping cart or shopping bag these seem to work! and please all show icons on your designs. Also if anyone can come up with a slogan try adding it. Please show a design with and without, Raja has done this and his looks very good, professional looking. Its an idea which could work but I have not made my mind up on it as of yet. I do not want the design to look to corny! I want it to make a statement and become a recognised brand eventually. I will try and come up with something that you could add into the design. But you may think of something better than me so I am open to your suggestions, thoughts and ideas on it.

Look how Radical Seed, Kalvinhobs, eagle and Dynagirl have adapted Icons with their initial designs.

Great work everyone! :tup:

Hi,

Here is my latest entry.I made some changes;

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/afs.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

-Changed the "4" on the bag.Now it is more Asian, centered and easier to read.Also the bag is bigger.
-I used different colors on bag instead of using the same color with another tone.
-Moved the "Asia" type righter on the bag.
-I add 4 different slogans, I can use the one you prefer with any color.

Here are the icons with new colors, you can also use them different colors in different shopping pages according to goodies;

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/afsicons.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

And here is a bigger version with my favourite colors;

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/do/afs2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

I can remove the slogans if you prefer.

Best,

Kalvinhobs:- Love the new designs they really look good? Like the slogan too! You like the greens better, I do not know if I am that keen, but I did like the yellow and purplish color!. That looked good I thought. The slogan could you try this it will work with my other competition I am running. " 1st Stop for shopping" or something on that lines, you can experiment if you want to. But in my other competition " please enter" I am thinking of the name "1stopasia" for a shopping site or ecommerce site. Thanks for your latest designs I love them.

Radical Seed:- I loved yor latest designs!, which color I like, do not know! But the text you have to keep is the green logo's text "now that looks good!" But I do need a slogan, well I think it would work with the other competition "1stopasia" it goes like this "1st stop for asia" or something on them lines, please change anything if you think it does not work. The colors are great which color though I need to look more. If you have other colors in mind please try them!.

Please add the modifications and I look forward to view your changes!.

Radical Seed these are great colors loved them, also the slogans are good but liked the bottom one better, but I did not like the pastel blue, the other 3 colors are better. Now would it be possible to these 3 colors in the following formats:

web page,
business card
icon for desk top
banner
cannot wait to see the looks and changes.

Its ok I just wanted to see the design in those concepts.

Kalvinhobs:

Loved your new colors too, the orange and purple is best, would it be possible to see the designs in what I have asked Radical Seed. Webpage, business card etc.
My slogan does not work does it, think you guys have better ideas than me. I look forward to see the changes.

There is also a flash banner work for you to give you an idea how the logo can be used in a flash banner.It is not something that I work on much, just a rough animation to give you an idea.

Loved the designs I can see what the logo will look like on a card, on webpage, and the banner 'wow' very good, very talented, I just want to see what Radical will come up with before I pick a design. If you have any other ideas for this logo I would love to see them!

I was really hoping Radical seed would rise to the challenge of seeing his design on webpage, business card and banner. But it may look like he has conceded to my challenge so I will wait till this sunday just to see if anything developes and I will announce a winner of this competition 12/10/03 end date.

WOW! WOW! WOW! you are too truely gifted, alike Kalvin? One last request and it will be my last request promise! could I see it in deep red background, and an orange background? also could you change the font on the A' and S' so it looks more so its more chinese calligraphy brush like your design in the cart. and make the 4 the same (sorry kalvin but I love your 4) Just try and see what it looks like? a friend looked at the designs and asked me "he thinks it would look better in more striking colours like Kalvins design". Also a professional gave me advice on the fonts! Please do this last request and I promise I will then announce a winner on Sunday. Please also you and Kalvin enter my other competition 1stopasia, needs more competitors to make it more competitive!

Color and lettering changes

andy66
10-08-2003, 01:51 PM
Sorry Radical, could you keep a plain white background, The shopping cart white, inside the circle orange, same color as www.orange.co.uk and the deep red that is ok, but change the cart to white, the 4 is ok but the A and S make the lines more of a sweep action, a little like Kalvins A and S but please do not use his design but try and keep it similar. Keep it the same as all your previous designs just change the background inside the circle, a white cart, thanks alot!

andy66
10-08-2003, 01:59 PM
Look at Dynagirls design she has a good 'S' I will leave the A to you but try and make it more freehand and sweeping lines. And 4 in Kavins is a great 4 please try his style yours 4 leans to the left and kalvins lean to the right his looks better. Good luck?

Radical seed: The chinese writing does not work really but at least you tried, revert back to the original text, the colors are much better in orange and deep red. Keep that but go back to the same font as your other designs. Thanks for trying,

Palmer

Andy as you may know, things can be changed by the designers after the contest has ended. I think they have been very patient and made enough revisions. You don't have to have the final product before making a decision, they can make minor changes after it has ended. :)

Palmer: Sorry if you think they are losing patience! but when you cannot decide between the 2 designers, it will be hard to pick one. So that is why I asked for the last minute changes to the designs by Radical seeds.

I will post a winner Sunday 12th October.

Again thanks to Radical Seed and Kalvinhobs for your very good work and patience! I hope you can both wait? also thanks to everyone else who entered the standard were very high, so thank you all.

thanks Andy66
