I am looking for a post card sized ad design that we will be running in two local newspapers. Our company, is a full service residential general contracting firm that specializes in kitchen and bathroom remodeling. We specialize in repairs being done as part of real estate sales transactions. Most of our projects are obtained by providing termite inspection services to sellers/buyers. The inspection reports we generate quote prices to do the repairs, which often involve remodeling entire bathrooms or kitchens.
We have artisan level construction crews that are expert at designing and building luxury bathrooms in high end local homes. However, our biggest problem is that we are a termite company. Most people are shocked that a termite company built the bathrooms in our portfolio. Our goal is to increase public awareness of the caliber of our work, to get more requests for bids from local residents looking for a reputable general contractor.
I will post details about about ad size/specs/copy shortly.
I envision a horizontal layout with a picture of a luxury bathroom in the background and foreground text encouraging the reader to call for a bid on their project.

Pracus, I like the curve and color elements and use of the close-up of the faucet. The arrangement of the "SUPERIOR WORKMANSHIP..." wording around the "g" is excellent, as opposed to the other text in the top right corner, which is harder to follow and does not show up as well against the background.
Could you try a few other backgrounds? Showers, kitchens, detail of a custom tile arrangement, are all options
Here's a link to another popular style of faucet our customers tend to identify with luxury and class:

Playing with the opacity of the solid purple areas to increase the size of the background may help give the ad a more sophisticated and luxury look we envision. Thanks!

Kekepania, The script you use for "Splurge" is nice. Overall very readable. You could make this a classy/fun style of ad that appeals to customers' desire to personalize and create their ideal custom kitchen or bath! Dreams becoming reality, wife's wish list, etc.
The current design would work well for a smaller size ad. The larger size could look really good if you were able to tie in the three sections and make it look more sophisticated. Greater size of background, being able to see through some of the solids, and letting some of the "Splurge" wording overlap onto the bathroom image may help...
The best ad will create a classy, luxurious look for a customer who wants a very very nice bathroom or kitchen. A marble slab background might lend that feeling immediately. Nice job and looking forward to any ideas you have!

Jhuggins, welcome to Design Outpost. You've got an impressive first take. I like how large the picture is, because it will grab the eye on the newspage. The thin line creates a nice frame, and together with the script for the "CUSTOM TILE, NATURAL STONE, etc." creates a luxury feel. The background image is excellent, because the type of cabinet finish is popular in our service area.
Earlier today, you had a black and white ad that I think has good potential because it created the luxurious look I want without the color. If you still have it, I would like to keep it on the table, as an option, color or no color.
If you could, increase the size of the phone number and url. The company name and address could be shrunk and moved below the logo. Could you use white or the purple color of our logo as the frame color?
The current background is very good, but a few variations on the background image would be nice to compare. I liked the more open/bright look of your black and white ad and the white divided window panes used to create a large/open look. Nice job!

If you have until midnight eastern time that would be great. I have already started but have to go to my full time job first. If not that is understandable!

Jennifer Johnson's/Blue Cherry Graphics design v1 is our favorite. We feel it best represents the type of work we do and is most likely to have the broadest general appeal for our customers.
Thank you all for the great submissions. I particulary enjoyed how much attention to detail there was in all your designs. Thanks for the hard work and creativity. You are a wonderful resource.
Jennifer, I will post a request for some minor changes to the copy, then request final images. Thanks.

Hi Jennifer.
Here are the changes we need:
1. Omit the word "DESIGN" so that the new call to action on the right side of the ad reads: CALL TODAY FOR A FREE CONSULTATION!
2. Add to bottom right, just below our website address:
Cont. Lic. 831089
Thanks!

Jennifer,
If it is not present, could you also add a thin white border around the ad perimeter for white space between it and adjacent ads when it is printed. It should be 1/16 to 1/8 wide. Thanks!
