Due Nov 13th: Biotech Startup Company Logo - $250
________________________________________
Project Summary:We are a startup company, Or-vo, Inc., that is using a version of high precision printing technology to create human organs starting from the patient’s own cultured cells– the tissue engineering and regenerative medicine space. We need a logo that looks sharp as we’ll be dealing with a number of investors and scientists.
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Or-vo
What type of product or service do you offer?
We are a biotechnology company in the tissue engineering field, offering no products yet but having an emerging novel technology.
How long have you been in business?
5 months
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Express that we are a serious and trustworthy competitor in this space worthy of collaboration and investment.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
November 12th
Audience Profile:
Investors (angel investors and venture capitalists), scientists that we collaborate with and that may be interested in working for us, biotech industry peers, some media
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Basic text perhaps with minimal accents. One or two colors
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Open to different colors, but prefer slightly darker colors, think richer blues, darker greens, and fall-like reds, oranges, etc… these seem to be more “serious”. Dark blue to basic black is fine too.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No actual organ shapes should be included, mainly text and perhaps stylized portions that evoke science. We work with aggregations of cells, so connected small spheres might work, see the tengion logo linked below for that idea expressed in the “O”. I’m 50/50 on whether that would be good for us or not though. We are able to vascularize (create blood vessels in) tissue which is novel, so another concept is blood vessels, but that’s risky for looking cartoonish. Basic designs with nothing representational might win out.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Seriousness, gravity, and innovation
What is your tagline or slogan?
none. One might be “innovating today for the patients of tomorrow”
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Perhaps evoke science and innovation and certainly express seriousness and commitment to our venture.
Where will your new logo be used?
It will be used on the website, business cards, letterhead, etc.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
These all are poor – and that’s fine since we need to stay away from them for identity and copyright reasons
Not competitors, but also in the general biotech space Amgen has a good logo. Millennium’s is OK. Genentech’s is bad.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Better technology and better businesspeople, better network throughout the biotech and medical world. The technology is higher precision and allows more of the microarchitecture of the organs to be reproduced.
Good luck and thank you to all entries!
