This assignment consists of two parts.

1. Produce a graphic that clearly illustrates the operation of my software product.

2. Combine the graphic produced in part 1 with an existing product logo to create a virtual boxshot.

Part 1 - The graphic

This is the major portion of the assigment. I want a graphic produced that can be used on the home page of the product website and also on the front of the virtual box shot. Ideally it should be of sufficient resolution that it will also print without jaggies up to A4 size.

The product is Text2Go (http://www.text2go.com), a Windows software application that allows you to convert text from the web to speech and transfer it to your iPod so that you can listen to it while on the go.

I want a graphic that clearly illustrates the following process.

1. Take a page of text from the web.
2. Convert it to speech.
3. Transfer the resulting audio track to an iPod so it can be listened to while on the go.

The graphic will replace the existing image

http://www.text2go.com/portals/0/text-to-speech-to-your-ipod.png

I don't expect the new image to be anything like the existing image.

However the image produced needs to tie in with the existing logo and web site colours.

One possible idea is -

A woman rushes out the door with iPod in hand (or wearing iPod).
In her wake, web pages are being sucked out of a monitor, morphing into audio tracks (e.g. a waveform or a music note) and streaming into her iPod.

I am very open to suggestions and would be happy to discuss concepts or see some simple sketches of various possibilities.

Part 2 - The Boxshot

I want a virtual boxshot produced, similar to something produced with TrueBoxShot (http://www.trueboxshot.com/)

This effectively involves creating two images, one for the cover and one for the spine.

The cover image would include the Text2Go logo, the image produced in part 1 and some text such as the company name (Tumbywood Software), product description (Listen to text from the web on your iPod or MP3 player) and website url (www.text2go.com).

The spine image would include the Text2Go logo, 'Text2Go' and the company name.

I really hope someone can help and please don't hesitate to ask for further information or clarification.

Regards,

Mark.

Is anyone working on this or planning to?

Are there any reasons why this assignment has not be taken up yet? e.g. fee too low, unclear requirements, too difficult?

Hello Alternatura,

This is looking really good. I particularly like the stacked web pages and the wavy text that looks like it's being sucked into Text2Go.

Could you please change the following:

Remove the 'Listen to your web pages!!! with' text.

Change the top webpage to a page with mainly text, 1 or 2 graphics. Ideally the page would be predominately blue or green.

Replace the image on the iPod screen with the top webpage.

Change the colour of the sound wave to more closely match my website colours (perhaps an electric blue?). Perhaps a more stylised sound wave would look better.

The image looks slightly imbalanced towards the right. Perhaps the stack of web pages could be slightly larger or moved up a fraction.

Thanks,

Mark.

Hello Alternatura,

This is a great improvement. The colours are perfect. I like the shadow you'e added to the Text2Go button. The sound wave also looks much better. Could you just try a couple of variations.

1. Try aligning the sound wave with the center of the iPod rather than the center of the click wheel. The iPod still seems a little high in relation to the web pages.

2. Could you try varying the amplitude of the sound wave. The period and thickness of the wave are perfect.

3. Could you move the iPod in closer to the Text2Go button so that it's the same distance as the web pages are from the button.

It's almost there!

Mark.

Thanks very much to both of you guys Mark and Fabian

Mark,
don't we need to work on the box-shot?

If so, should there be some additional elements, or would you like me to create the box using only this image we ended up with

or if not, would
JPEG 300dpi; 300mm long side (so it prints well at A4 size),
and
smaller-www version, (you give me the pixel sizes please)
be enough for you?

Please let me know,

cheers

Yet another thing, sorry I forgot to mention,

I would need you to send me/attach to your post here, vector version of your logo (preferably .ai - Adobe Illustrator file)

(during the design process I used the logo extracted from the header on your www)

This is important especially for the printing version of your image,

thanks

Hello Alternatura,

If you could create the box shot too that would be great!

I will leave it up to you as to whether you want to add additional elements to the box shot. The main image on the box cover should be the graphic you've just designed.

I've attached an .ai image of my logo as requested.

Mark.

I have received the final files from Alternatura. Payment should be made immediately.

I am very happy with the final results and have been particularly impressed with the way Alternatura has listened to my feedback and acted on it immediately. I can highly recommend Alternatura as a designer!
