I am the youth minister at Liverpool Christian Church and I am in need of a cool logo for our group. The name of our group "Gnahnkonphormite". It is a phonetic spelling of the word nonconformity. The logo for the group should include reference to the Romans 12: 2. We have used some color combinations already and they are: Marroon and Silver or Avacado (green) and Sienna (orange) or and Blue and Yellow. The idea that we are trying to capture is "different from the norm". Thanks for your help!

For those who don't know it by heart... :)
Romans 12:2
"...do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
NIV version...
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what Gods will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Matt do you have a preference as to which version of the verse we use?
Welcome to Design Outpost :)

Hi Matt :)
Well, my logo is too large to put here (I'm assuming you want to use it on t-shirts and such?) so I'll just link to the picture:
http://www.mascotartist.com/temp/nonconformity-red.jpg
(Please be patient.. its a large file!)
I did one in silver/maroon. If you decide to choose this entry, I'll make it in the other colors as well, so you can have several choices.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to design your youth group's logo!

Hey Palmer,
Good Question! I do not mind if the verse is even on there! We have been using the NIV version, but even if "Romans 12: 2" or "Rom. 12: 2" is all that appeared in the logo, that would be cool too! Thanks for the inquiry!
What do you think? any suggestions? different colours maybe?
or something a bit more in keep with your colour scheme

Thanks John, they look pretty good. Is there anyway to flip the image of the word so that it reads backwards? May add a little more confusion... confusions good!

Sparkie,
I think the idea of the word break up is pretty cool. The verse actually listed on the logo may give away some of the mystery of using a phonetic spelling. I would prefer just a reference to the verse rather than writing the whole verse. Also, I have not seen any knid of graphic placed behind the word yet, if anything was appropriate it may be cool to see what you guys come up with. I really appreciate all that you do! This is a pretty cool ministry that is going on. Who knows, maybe one of you designers will run into your own design somewhere. Thanks again!

Putting the whole verse there was my fault. I thought that's what you wanted  Oh well, nothing wrong with a little scripture on the site is there? :)
Palmer
Are these any better? Are these the type of colours you want?
Anything in particular you like/dislike?

Oh, I can remove the verse and just put a reference to it if you'd like.. changing that is no problem.
But I have another idea as well.. hang on and I'll post it soon :)

Palmer,
Thanks for all the input. I cannot tell you how cool I think this is that you guys do this. These are looking great. I cannot wait to see what all we end up with.
John,
That one with *'s for the o's with the word flipped backwards is great! I wish that there was a graphic or something that really just shined behind it, something that really screamed "nonconformity"! If you choose to do anymore with it, feel free to go outside of the color schemes that I have used and suggested. They are lookbnig great!!! THanks to all of you.

What do you think? Good/Bad graphic?

I'm a believer and so are some of the other members of the Design Team. I feel if you have a gift from God, you should use it in any way to benefit the Church. This is just a way I came up with to "pay back" for the gift I've received. I think you know what that gift is ;)
Thanks for the kind words, :)

The animal represented on this one is a chameleon.. I thought that it would be an interesting symbol to show "nonconformity" since they don't always conform to "standards" either ;)

I was going for the "Symbology".
(I know the word is Symbolism, I was just trying to be "cute".) :P

YOU GUYS ARE GREAT! Is there any way to keep these coming? I may just make a whople line of nonconformity clothing (joking of course)! Palmer, thank you for your "effort for the cause". Sparkie, I like the idea of the chameleon it is pretty cool, plus the font is nice, thank you. Cre8tor, the sheep thing is way cool. I would love to see what else is out there, although I know you do these for a living and I have nothing to offer but my praise. Thanks for all your hard work!

Thanks Matt, we're happy to help. Just so this doesn't go on indefinately though, eventually you'll have to declare a "winner" of your contest. We are keeping track of wins to eventually add them to the designers stats regardless if they're done for free or for prize money. There's also a matter involving the apprentice team but I'll keep that to myself so as to not sway your opinion ;)
So.... would you like to set a deadline for your contest?

Palmer and Design team,
I will announce a deadline for this contest as requested. The deadline for this contest is Friday, February 7, at 2:00 PM. I am excited to see what results come in the next few days. Thanks again for your work, they are all really great.
