I’m starting a part-time business doing specialty gift-wrapping. Instead of wrapping paper, I’m using metal cans with special labels and other goodies. You can find detailed information of the operation at http://www.ucanit.com That’s the supplier of all the equipment and supplies.

I need a logo that implies gifts going into a can. Something that is recognizable by the general public, since that will be my target market. The name of the business will be Custom Canning Solutions.

1) Logo and business name needs to be separated. I will accept “joined” designs if it works well.
2) Logo must contain a metal can as the central theme. One idea is to have a can drawn with 3 or 4 ribs, top and bottom, but no lines indicating the sides. Don’t need to stick with this if you have something that works better.
3) Font must not be cursive, and needs to be clearly legible.
4) Not concerned about colors at this time. Anything goes as long as it is not garish :lol2:

I have my first outing in November at a large craft fair, and I would like to have promotional materials ready ASAP with the new logo. :D Since I don’t need anything slick, I do my own desktop publishing with Publisher or Pagemaker.

I’m not sure what file format to request. I’m familiar with doing web pages and the different formats available there. I’m a tinkerer and use Paint Shop Pro and Fireworks MX to tinker with graphics. I have no skill in creating new artwork however. LOL

Deadline is for the 10th of October. Price is $65.

pennyln,

I dub thee... The Flash! :D That was fast! :woot:

Thanks for the entry. I'm looking to show more of what goes inside the can, but your design is a good start. Here are some ideas:

1) Move the company name to the right of the cans.
2) On the largest can put a teddy bear halfway out, leaning to the left
3) Yellow (might want to try other colors as well) ribbons on the other two cans.
4) Maybe put other things like a CD or video tape halfway in the other two cans.

Thanks for your hard work!

- Hector

Getting close!

How about instead of the tie, have candy canes, candy bars, or mittens? Could you make "DVD" bolder, and line up all of the letters. At first look, it seems to read something like D versus D. I can just see the farmers at the craft fairs saying stuff like "Hey Randall, have you ever seen that D v. D movie?" :lol2:

I really like how the bottom one looks. The black background makes it kind of hard to read. I'm trying to think about the font and how to make it work with the bows on the cans. Would changing the bows and company name to blue work?

I'm not sure what to replace the black oval with. The letters are too close together though. I can't think of a font name right now. I'll have to look at my collection when I get home.

BINGO! The top logo is it. You are the winner! I'm impressed!

Nobody else submitted anything, and pennyln kept coming back like the Terminator. The competition went "Hasta la vista, baby!"

Just a couple minor tweaks: yellow bow to blue like the other one, and put a bit more space between the letters in "Solutions"

Well, I'm definitely coming back to Design Outpost for any more work that I'm going to need. In fact, I'm going to divert anybody that needs graphic work here.
