Well I've always just designed my own logos. Right now, I like my logo, but I don't love it. This is my current logo:

I want a love that when ever I look at it, I think "wow, I LOVE that" so I can start really marketing myself with a logo I love.

What are your long term goals? To go into business full time once my kids are in school and become an amazing photographer.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
I'd like to launch my new site at the beginning of the year and am also going to be gone for a week this month. December 30th is the deadline.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience: Mothers and other photographers. Middle class families, but I'd love to take that up to higher class families who really value photography as an art.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Just answered that.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
My work has often been described as: Fresh and real. I would like something simple, but something that captures your attention. I want it to be fun and fresh. Something modern, yet simple.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) These are the colors I have chosen for my new colors. I have always loved blue and pink has been close second for a long time. These colors are bright and fresh, fun and playful.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No, not really.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
That my work is fresh (like I said before), fun, real...yet still traditional.

What is your tagline or slogan?
I don't have one.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? Honestly, that getting a portrait of your child or family doesn't have to be a stressful thing. It can be fun and relaxed, not rushed and personal. A good experience.

Where will your new logo be used? My website, marketing materials, blogs, etc.


Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? I am not one to search out my competitors and look at their logos. There are so many photographers here in Utah, so I am just trying to find my own client base slowly but surely. So, lol, I guess I have no real answer for that one. he he

What sets you apart from your competitors? Well I personally think that my ability to capture real personalities and strong emotion in through the eyes sets me apart.

I like the idea of my initials, however, I do not want MD because it's to "medical" for me lol. I'd love just the M incorporated into it. I do not like the colors at all. I 100% want the colors that I have chosen above. I have already got a website with those colors, so I need the logo to match.

I'd also love to see something not so masculine. Something simple and feminine, yet fun and modern.

Thanks Deanna, that actually looks similar to a logo I designed before the one I have now. I do not like the fonts. I love the idea of having a cursive font, but the photography looks to chunky. I like smooth lines and thinner fonts. :) Thanks!

Thank you guys for your plays. I'm just not loving anything I see. I don't like the squares. Deanna, I do like the font in "photography" in V2 & V3. Simple and clean, but do not like the cursive used in V3. I think it's too fancy for me. I like fonts the flow a tad more.

Relevant, thanks for your play. I like the butter fly, I'd like to see more with that :) but I don't like either of the fonts.

I have most of the fonts here and they are ones I just don't love.

Jennifer, those are fun! But still not loving anything. SORRY to be such a pain, I'm a picky picky person lol. I'll search tonight for some examples of logos I love.

Oh, oh, I really like "Melissadavis photography" in V5 Jennifer, but not the MD. I want to stay away from MD, and maybe just use a M. hmm, I wonder if you could play around with my colors in that same logo some how? That's getting closer! and I actually like the font in V4...I wish is were thinner though.

I think I want ditch the "M" idea, it's just not me. but maybe incorporate some fun, yet smooth and simple swirls show how? Okay, so I think I want to ditch anything on TOP..a picture, letter.....anything. I want it to be interactive, so swirls around or a design around it some how...

This is the girl I got this message board link from. I really loved some of the designs such as:

Thinking of camera lenses, faces, balloons, groups... you don't have to read too into it if you don't want to. Circles could be used as design elements on your website and stationery as well.

Relevant, I'd like to see my name in Gray (light or dark or both, whatever) and a different font. Then maybe the butterfly with swirls rather then dots.

Taldo, thanks, could you try with the blue and pink lighter colors I gave on the first page? My website is already coded to all those colors, so I'd like to keep my logo the same.

Offbeat, still not what I'm looking for (I'm sorry, I feel horrible for even having to say that. I think your designs are great. Modern and fun, but not what I'm looking for.

Taldo, I'm loving where yours is going! Could I see it in different variations, with different colors in different spots? And I wonder if the top swirls could be different, maybe just a tad more simple? I do like that style of font, could "photography" be closer to my name and then try it with photography spread out to fit right under my name? And do you have a font that's a tad thinner? Oh wow, that's a lot of requests (sorry) but THANK YOU all at the same time!!!

Relevant, I'd like to see all the letters in gray, no color. and a few more variations of swirls with the butter fly? Maybe even a bee?? My name means "honey bee" which is kind of ironic because I have been scared of bees my whole life LOL! Oh, and I'm not diggin' that font. Too spaced apart. I like things scrunched together a tad more :)

If some one would like to incorporate ONE cute little heart some how into a logo, I would love it. Ever since I was little, I would doodle little hearts. Kind of hand written, sloppy hearts are what I love. :P

Tini, I like that last one with the M, but don't like the heart. but I love how you put a little heart on that end. I wonder if I could see a few different hearts. Tini, I like the heart connected. Could I see the heart smaller and thinner? also, I wonder if the other side of the M could have a little loop or swirl, but just a little one? I think if I chose that logo, I would like to use just the M as a water mark, would that be possible to say make just the M into a brush? Off beat, I think what I'm not liking is the spaces in my name. Also, I would like to see a heart that's more sloppy and "hand written" if that makes sense? I like vr 10 how there is a white space, but don't like how the top fallows the shape of the heart.

Because time is short before the deadline, I wanted to say I still love your fonts Jennifer! I'm just not sure anymore what I would like to see as part of my name/logo. There are a couple I really like, but nothing yet that I LOVE...say WOW too, if you know what I mean?

Okay guys. I know you've worked hard (which I so much appreciate!). I found a scrap booking font that I love. I of course can't use it for my logo, but I just wanted to give you an idea of more of my style. I love scrap booking, cutsie type stuff like this:

Awe, thanks for replying Jennifer! I want the logo in V11, minus the swirly thing. I just love that font, the gray you chose and how you arranged them together. I want some kind of icon above the logo (examples in message 109), but I'm going to be adding some scrap elements to it, so I may go with JUST the logo minus any icon. none the less....LOVE the fonts/color/placement combo! Thanks! Also, I'm not sure if you tell the font, but I'd love to know if it's GeosansLight?? The designer of my website needs to change fonts for me, so I'd like to get her the right font you used in the logo.

oh my gosh, I got lost for a bit lol...I can't see a difference in colors, so maybe just a tad darker. and totally fine that you can't use the code. I just had it as an example of the shade I wanted :)

Okay, so what now? I'm still not sure as far as what design I'd like to have with the logo. I purchased some scrapping stuff that I can use (haven't gotten it yet though) and I want to incorporate that into it some how, just not sure how.

As far as incorporating other elements, I can send it to you like this and you can just add whatever you want to it (provided you have the right software and you are familiar with prepping files for print).

Be careful w/ the artwork you purchased, though, b/c a lot of times using it for logos is specifically prohibited (I'm sure you probably know that already, but just in case :)). I really love the scrapping stuff too.
