What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Heilmann Dog Park

What type of product or service do you offer?

We are a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) charity. We "adopted" a parcel of land located within a county regional park, and fundraised to turn what was basically swamp land into a very nice fenced dog park.
We continue to fundraise to landscape and make improvements to the park.

How long have you been in business?

Our board began working on this project in 2003, and the park has been in existance since 2005.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We put together our own logo several years ago, but we were never very happy with it - it was rather cartoonish. We don't want that type of design style. Also, our name has changed so we need a new design.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

We can be flexible, would be nice to have it completed by Jan 15, 2008.

What type of logo would you like?

As mentioned above, we want to stay away from cartoon-type designs.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

Probably green, although we see ourselves using primarily black and white to reduce our printing costs. Flexible.

We do not have grass though in our dog park, but utilize wood chips/bare ground. So please no grass in logo.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

We are located near the central coast of California, 30 mins. to the ocean. The county park is heavily treed with valley/blue oaks, and we have a beautiful oak within the dog park.

Therefore, we would like to incorporate an oak and a dog in our new logo.

What is your tagline or slogan?

We don't have one.

Where will your new logo be used?

On our letterhead, business cards, etc.
We would like to be able to use our logo in future fundraising efforts, such as tee shirts for people and/or dogs, hats, mugs etc.

Thank you!

Hi,

Thank you so much for the replies! I've been out of town the past 4 days and was hoping I might come home to find some logos.
We are having a board meeting this evening, and I will show these examples and get some feedback.

Hi,
I presented both designs to the board last night, and they were both so well-liked it was tough to chose between the 2. Either design would be great.

In the end, the edge was given to Kekepania's design as it seemed to resemble the park itself.

One concern we had was with the large size of the logo, and if we shrink it in size to fit on a business card you may not see the dog. We reached the decision that we will only include the park address, phone #, and website addy on cards and omit individual board member names. That should help.

Another thought was to use the logo as a faded background on the business card and have print on top of the logo.

Kekepania, can you share your thoughts on this matter? Also, can we see the design with a slightly smaller font?

Thanks so much for both entries,
Priscilla

Priscilla,

Have you decided to work exclusively with Kekepania? If so, I'll move to revisions.

I think that you would still be able to see the dog once reduced for business card size. Also, you may consider a double sided business card, then you could have your logo on one side and it could be a little bit larger. :)

Thanks!

Thanks for choosing my design! :) I will get the revisions to you later this evening. Would you also like me to mock it up on business card for you to see? ;)

Hi Priscilla,

Would you like any color added to your logo? Or are you going to stick with black? and have black and white business cards, etc? Please let me know :)

Thanks!

Stephanie

Hi,

We are going to use mainly black & white, but may on occasion want color - green. So if we could have it in green too that would be great.

Thanks,
Priscilla

ok here it is in color and with the text smaller... and also a business card layout, so that you can see what size the logo will be. Let me know if you want any further revisions! :) Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,
The Board got a look at version #2 last night, with the slightly smaller font, and the black and white version of it is the unanimous favorite.
We also love the look of the business card. Can you complete one with our info? Not sure how that works but that would be great. Just in case, here's our addy etc.:

PS- Clarification: although we want the logo in black and white, we do like the look of the business card in green. :-)

Hi Priscilla,

Here is the business card with your info :) I also extended the ground to the edges, I thought it looked more balanced. What do you think? Let me know if there are any revisions to this?

Thanks!
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,
Looks great, and I agree the ground to the edges is the way to go.
Thank you,
Priscilla
