Hi,

I haven’t done a logo contest in a while and I am looking forward to this one (and we have another one coming up this week too!!) $180 for this one!

The website is called www.ReputationReset.com (http://www.ReputationReset.com) for our Online Reputation Management business.
It’s actually already a profitable business – we are simply redoing a redesign of the logo (and then the site)

Below are our answers to the logo design submission sheet:

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

We want the logo to include the name Reputation Reset. We will also want a tagline “Because people are Googling you” . We want to get versions of the logo both with and without the tagline.
In addition, we would potentially like to see some sort of emblem or design that would add graphic appeal to the logo. Simple is better.

What type of product or service do you offer?

We help companies and individuals make sure that when they are searched online, the Google results will be favorable. (So if they have a blogger or customer complaint – that comment will not appear in the top ten for searches on the company’s name. We are focused on measurable success – clients pay for successful results.

How long have you been in business?

This name has only been around for a few months, but we have been offering the service to our clients for over a year.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

We would like our identity to give our company an established and professional look.
We provide a service that clients pay thousands of $/month on an ongoing basis – we need to have a logo that matches that.

What are your long term goals?

We want to grow this company and continue to partner with PR firms worldwide.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

We would like to have a final design in place by January 3 or sooner.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience

PR Firms, Publicists, Political Campaign Directors, Marketing Managers, Finance people.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

The above audience is suitable for our needs.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

Corporate, but with personality. (even very slightly web 2.0-ish)

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

We like blue because its corporate – perhaps add to that some green – whatever you think is best.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

No. Open to suggestion

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Strong, solid, established, technologically advanced

What is your tagline or slogan?

“Because people are Googling you” or “Because people are search your name online”

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

We would like to give the visual appearance of a solid, experienced tech savvy, with some personality.

Where will your new logo be used?

Marketing collateral – brochures, folders (embossed), business cards, website, t-shirts.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

Our competitors would include the following companies:

http://www.advmediaproductions.com/webserv.html - no real logo
http://www.levick.com/expertise/out/attack.php - okay, but not meaningful
http://www.reputationdefender.com/?gclid=CLXp2OrvwJACFRGCGgodqzetXw okay, but nothing special

What sets you apart from your competitors?

We focus on the positive – rather than fighting the search engines or websites so that the bad results go away, we accentuate the positive results and cause them to be more prevalent than the bad ones. To achieve this we have developed a proprietary tool that analyzes search results for target keywords to find both commonalities and opportunities. Using this analysis we are able to create and then carry out a plan to effectively improve search engine results for searches on the names of our clients, their products, and their companies. We also have an obsession with privacy and secrecy that our clients really appreciate.

Targeted Message:
State a single phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
People Google you? We make sure both you and the searchers like what they see.

Deliverable:
We will need the logo….
- With and without the tagline
- In various formats including web-ready and high res for printing
- In the form of a small favicon (or at least the 32X32 and 16X16 that we need to create one.

Hi NHR,

Thanks for your designs!

Design #1 - is interesting - but it didn't excite my staff too much.

Design #2 - not sure what I think about this one - it has not jumped out at me.

regards,
sam.

NHR #3 - looks a bit like a bank logo - not what we are looking for.
Logoholik #3 - interesting...

If anyone has a design that suggests a clean slate - or cleaning things up - resetting things - we are still not fully satisfied with the entries we have seen.

We want to close this contest soon - any takers?

Thanks for the new designs - our comments!

Fabian: Your design is nice but does not say "reset" to us.

Relevant #1 - I dont understand what that logo is saying.
Relevant #2 - very attractive logo - but it looks a bit generic - like it could be the logo of any company.
Relevant #3 - nice font, Again we are not sure what the logo is trying to say.

Perhaps we can try something that plays on the idea of a RESET BUTTON.

See this image as an example of using red and green - where red is going down and green is coming up -

http://www.woodlandrealty.com/images/smartmap/button_reset_search_off.gif

(the negative results are on the decline while the positive ones are on the rise..)

Any other ideas? We want to wrap this up in the next couple of days!

Thanks,
sam.

Another thought -

Firefox has a button for reload that has a single arrow going clockwise.
We think we might want an arrow that ends up pointing UP (not sure if clockwise or counterclockwise is better).

We were wondering how it would look if we had the arrow start red (negative) and then morph into green (positive).

Then the logo would be saying that things are getting better and moving higher.

Other colors might be good too - as long as they give the same idea.

Any takers?

sam.

Hi Sam,thanks for the feedback. Here's one exploring your reset concept :)

Hi!

Here we go!
As far as most of your clients are reading from left to right (as in the most of western countries) it is better to make it counter clockwise because it represents the growth of reputation (going forward and up) :)

Fabian #2 - button is interesting - is there a way to make the text feel like part of the logo too? right now it's disjointed.

Pracus #1 - Thanks for giving this a stab - looks like this direction could work. The multicolor arrow looks like froot loops (or life savers). We were thinking of green fading into red without solid colors in-between. We are not sure we like the font in all-caps.

Looking forward to seeing more!

Hi Pracus,

Thanks! I like the direction, I think.

We think we may like the red and green with very little in-between. Also maybe the swirl and arrow can be thicker - there is a lot of white space in the middle still.

This was something we were playing with based on your design.

Another concept was to add a shield element...

but as you can see I am not a designer :)

I've kept the basic concept the same in order to provide a solution that is workable as a 16x16 and 32x32 icon.

First some belated feedback - and also what's next...

Pracus #8 - the concept did not pass the test of review by our partners.
Fabian #3 - We like the look, but our partners did not.

What's next?
It seems that our attempt to look for a descriptive logo did not come up with anything that our strategic partners liked.

This is good news for designers - because we are now looking for a simple logo made completely (or almost completely) of the words themselves - "Reputation Reset".

The bottom line for our partners was, if we are charging several thousands $ per month for our service - the logo cant be cute - it needs to be solid (even somewhat boring). We looked at logos of PR firms and Crisis Management firms - they are focused on the name of the company and possibly and abstract design.

That is what we think will work for us.

Please send us your NEW logos - that are great name logos with minimal graphic element (outside the letters).

Thanks for helping us zero in on what we really need.

We look forward to wrapping this up by next Monday January 28th.

Pracus #8 - the concept did not pass the test of review by our partners.

It was your concept in fact, so no problem ;)
Maybe the solution is to ask your partners? Maybe they have some vision of this logo that we can visualize? You tried and you know them and it didn't pass so it's even harder for us.

Pracus, you are correct - it was our concept - and it worked for us - but not for our partners - sorry...

The consensus is that we need a plain jane logo - just a very professional presentation of the words Reputation Reset.

LogoHolik #4 - thats a good direction - perhaps different font that makes it look more like a top firm than like a cool web company.

Thanks!
sam.

Logoholik I am sending your designs around for review.

For the tag line we think we may go with "protecting your online reputation"

Logoholik - we like the two colors for Reputation and Reset. We need to try out some additional fonts. The line underneath is interesting - not sure about its color.

Xpressions - interesting - lets try the logo in different colors - dark blue being one of them maybe?

Blessville - those triangles are too far from the text of the logo. Can we get them to be closer and try different colors?

Thanks,
sam.

Xpressions, Blessville, Logoholik,
Thanks for your variations!
All were interesting, but we could only pick one winner.

We have chosen Blessville as our winner!

We would like the final logo to be in these colors and with the triangles closer to the text.
