Attached are two documents. One is the Project Summary, the other is a sample logo that will give you an idea to get you going although your final design could be very different or very similar.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
ROSE

What type of product or service do you offer?
As an Application Service Provider (ASP) we will offer a web based computer application subscription service. You will be able to subscribe to a number of business applications that will be useful for small or large businesses. The ROSE acronym stands for Remote Office Services. Our first major application that is currently in development is an Action Item Tracking tool. We will also have a message delivery system, a time card management system, and an e-mail subscription service. More applications will be added to our suite of tools as we build our presence in the market place.

How long have you been in business?
We have been in the IT business for over ten years but this is a new facet of our business. We intend to launch in 1Q or 2Q 2008.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
The identity should help us to establish a market presence and capture a healthy part of the market share in this space, becoming a recognized leader in web based application services.

What are your long term goals?
Our long term goals is to grow this business and become a leading ASP and a household name.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
January 2008.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
This product can benefit small or large businesses both in the private or public sectors.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Corporations, institutions, and agencies.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We want a logo that is simple and easy to associate with so that once we have established a market we will be recognized by our logo alone. Although ROSE stands for Remote Office Services we would like the logo to stand by itself: ROSE. Remote Office Services could be displayed with the logo but it should remain separate unless one of your artists feels strongly that it should be incorporated as one brand. We have registered both ROSE and Remote Office Services with the US Patent and Trademark Office, therefore each one can now be marked with tm It will take about a year before we know whether they grant us the ® registered trademark for each.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
MaybebBlack letters with a red rose. Strong colors.
There is some concern that using the word ROSE may give us too much of a feminine identity which we don’t necessarily want so this should be considered when using color. This is a gender neutral product.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Strong use of the acronym ROSE incorporated with a graphic, a photo, or a digitally manipulated photo of a ROSE. However, we are open to entirely new renditions if someone should come up with a brilliant idea that relates to our project that does not follow these guidelines.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Ease of use. Simple but effective. A good feeling. User Friendly. Powerful. Efficient.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Don’t have one yet. Here’s a couple of ideas:
Simply Effective Computing.
What you need, AnyWhere, When you need it, How you get it: just connect.
The Application Connection

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That they have easy access to their applications via the internet without the need to download files and maintain licenses or worry about upgrades, licensing, or configuration hassles.

Where will your new logo be used?
Primarily on our web site. but also on business cards, and marketing materials. (Eventually on Television)

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

List competitive URLs if possible
TrackWise is a competitive product but it they do not have a logo developed for the product. The parent company is http://www.sparta-systems.com/trackwise/
Trackwise has a logo but it would not copy.

Frontline also sells a tracking tool. Also no specific logo for the product.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Easy Access to Powerful business tools with access to the programs that you need anywhere, anytime, from any computer or web interface device. No longer will you be tied to one computer or one office for your business computing needs.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Application Delivery Innovators

Thank you all for your submittals for the ROSE logo. I have to admit it was a tough decision because so many of you submitted great art work! I wish we could have gone with a half a dozen logos and used them all!

We're going with Bill's design from Penny Lane Graphics #4. Bill, you still have your work cut out for you as the owners have some ideas of their own.

This is my first time using Design Outpost so how do I communicate the changes that we want to have you play with?

Congratulations Bill.

This thread has been moved to Revisions.

Rob, let Bill know what changes need to be made and once you receive your final files, please post a note in the thread.

Thanks! :)

Bill,

The team was concerned about the look being too "feminine" or not enough business oriented.

They want you to change the design in a way that the rose will stand alone as a symbol yet still be incorporated with the ROSE as part of the brand. We would like to have the option of using the Rose symbol without the ROSE but we still want it to be the same Rose flower(abstract) that is part of the entire logo that includes the lettering.

We also want the Rose to be more abstract. Take a look through the forum for ideas but you can just spin off of what you've got or take a new approach. -the tag line to incorporate in the logo changes to Remote Office Services -
You can do one using the leading R in ROSE for the first letter as there is room for the tag line to the right bottom of it, and make one version with the entire phrase underneath.

They want to change the black to "flag blue" and the red to "flag" red. That's USA. If you have any suggestions for another color scheme just let me know in writing or show me but this comes from the top so I don't think it will change.

Once you get the redesign or designs we were not sure whether to make the R red the OSE blue the Rose(flower) red and the Remote office services red or the remote office services blue. So try some variations.

Make sure you keep the e in ROSe lower case. That was one thing that we liked for acronym purposes.

If you have questions and want to talk, you can reach me at 540-622-5155

Bill,

We are getting closer to what we are looking for but we still need to see some variations.

1. Make the R in Rose Red
2. Try running 'emote office services off of the Red R under the OSE. You may try stylizing the R a little by extending the right foot of the R down a bit more to make for room and have it flow off better.
3. We would like to see some other renditions for the abstract portion of the rose. Maybe less organic. You don't have to leave all of the stem and leaves (but you can) (Again, you may want to spin off of some of the other abstracts from the other posts that we had) Also we want the entire logo to be more contained in a (invisible) rectangle. the rose sticks up too high compared to the rest of the logo. We're trying to get a little more corporate feel for this. Your first rendition was great, just not quite the image we were looking for as an IT form, but it was good enough that we decided to have you work with us to get it refined. The main focus here is to really get a really cool ROSE symbol that works with the font but stands alone.

Hi Bill,

Nice work. I hope all your customers aren't as tough as we are.

We are down to the top two but we'd like to see each with specific modifications.

Start on the top left version. We like the composition, better than the right top one because it's more contained in a block. We just want you to tweak it a little more. 1. remove the R from REMOTE OFFICE SERVICES so it uses the big Red R. This will help a little with item 2.
2. the REMOTE OFFICE SERVICES needs to be more readable so you need a little more space. This could be tricky because you may have to work with the spacing of Rose or the font size a bit or adjust the R in some way. We also want it to be lined up similar to your version 2 - message no. 34.
3. This is the hardest one. We don't think it is wise to use a rose symbol that is so close to your competitors. It could cause us both problems unless you were to get their permission. However, as we thought about it, that abstract, nice as it is, really doesn't have much Rose characteristics. It's more like a round flower. So we like the simplicity and strength of it but it needs a little more Rose feel. You see we may use it as an icon on our web page or on our letterhead or something without anything else. I know this is a challenge but you're a creative artist so I'm sure you'll come up with something awesome.

Now, the logo on the top right could work by moving the flower portion up so it's top aligned with the top of the R and then you get room to expand the REMOTE OFFICE SERVICES under it, also acheiving the block or rectangular overall format that we're looking for in the entire logo. The rose flower still needs to be revised. We appreciate your hard work.

Just to make it a little more complicated. Please show us two versions of each, one with REMOTE OFFICE SERVICES and one with EMOTE OFFICE SERVICES since we need to see both to make a final decision on which looks best.

Also you might show us a version with the R extended under Remote Office Services like the message 36 renditions because once you move all things around as requested and change the flower it's better to compare the two. I personally thought that held it together but until we see both, it's hard to tell which works best. So I think I'm only asking for six final mock ups.

Rob,

Just to clarify, designers do not collaborate on projects, therefore any concept introduced in the thread is the property of the designer who created it. It can't be used or modified by another designer.

I am not sure if you were aware of this or not, just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Thanks!

Bill,

Please hold off on making the last modifications. We have an internal disagreement so we have to re-think it. I don't want you to do extra work though you may think about another symbol for the rose in the meantime.

Bill,

We have decided that we like the Textual portion of your idea but not the graphic of the Rose so we will close this out without a graphic. Essentially, your work is done. We will take what you have given us and develop a final logo from there. Thank you.
