Hello,

I am yet another photographer looking for a logo design. I am really looking for something that is fun, will stand out, and will fit in with a higher class of clients. If you have any questions, please let me know. I am so excited as all of your work amazes me. Thanks in advance!!!

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Kimberly Noel Photography
What type of product or service do you offer?

Weddings and portraits (primarily children)
How long have you been in business?
3 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I want a better sense of identity. Something that can tie into all my marketing materials.
What are your long term goals?
To obtain a more high class clientele.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
My hope is Jan. 6th as I will be leaving on vacation on the 7th.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Young brides in their 20’s, early 30’s; Mom’s with young children
Who would you like to add to your audience?
I would like to keep it the same

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I am looking for a logo that is fresh, classy, modern and a bit sexy. If that makes any sense!
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
My color’s are brown and hot pink. I would like to keep them unless you can convince me otherwise.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Not necessarily, but I do like using the letters “K” “N” “P” I also like swirls, circles, and fun things.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Classy, modern and worth the investment
What is your tagline or slogan?
I have been using “Telling Your Story …. One picture at a time” but I really don’t like it.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Again, classy, modern, and sexy
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, marketing materials

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Many of my competitors do not have a memorable logo, so I would like mine to stand out.
List competitive URLs if possible
Not a competitor but here is a link of another designer whose logos I love (but she is not taking any new clients)
http://www.slslogodesign.blogspot.com/
What sets you apart from your competitors?

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Fun, laid back photography

I am looking for a logo that can be used for my website, etc. but also something that I may be able to incorporate part of the logo to the edge of my proofs.

THANKS AGAIN!

That was my attempt at a logo and to me it just screams boring, lol. But it will give you an idea of my color's at least. Thanks again!

Yeah!!! Thanks for the submissions thus far.

Xpressions, thanks so much for the start. I am not digging version 1. For Version 2, while I like it, it just seems to be lacking something.

Kekepania, thank you as well. I like version 1 with the bluish color. Could the boxes perhaps be made a bit smaller with my name a little bit larger? I do not like the font used for my name, could you try a different one. Also, not that it matter too much now, but I would like the brown to be a bit darker. Another thought that I am having is a pink box, brown box, then another pink box. My name is brown and then "photography" in pink. Just a thought.

Thanks so far and I can't wait to see more!!

I just realized that the price paid for this design does not show up in the title on the main forum list. The price paid is $175.

Moderators: I edited my first post to include the price in the title, but it does not show up on the main page. Can this be changed?

Hi Taldo,

THanks for the submission. I like the text of my name and photography but I really do not like the box and the "K."

I would love it if you would be willing to give it another shot. Thanks!

Blesseville,

Thanks for the submission. I think it is a good start. I am not digging the text for my name. Although the text for "photography" is good. I like the circles, I am wondering if they might be able to be angled a different way? I don't know, just thinking out loud.

Blesseville ... I like the cirlces better that way, but I still don't like the text of my name. Can you try another text maybe more inline with the samples I just posted above? Can we also maybe try the cirlces in the background slightly bigger and my name on top? Thanks!

Hi Blesseville. I like this one: verison 4. :D Can I make just a few sugguestions? Can you delete the little circle above "Noel?" Or at least make it slightly larger and move it closer to the other one's on top? Also, for the little circle on top of the big circle, can you make the little one brown? Could you also use the text for "photography" in V. 3 in V.4 for "photography" as well? Thanks, I really like this one so far.

Kekepania, thanks for the new design. It's just not me. It's too much of a box. I like the other one you sent better. Thanks though.

Thanks everyone for the updated versions.

- Blesseville, thanks for the revision, I really like that one.

- Kekepania, thank you as well for the revision. That one is much better. Still not exactly what I am looking for but definitely getting there. I was looking at some other logos you were working on and really like your version 1, 3, 4 & 8 in this thread: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15231. Would you be interested in trying something along those lines for me? Thanks if you would.

Freetime - Thank you for your version. While I like it, it seems a bit boring (in the nicest way possible) for what I am looking for.

Taldo - Thanks for your submission as well. I think this one quite a bit, but it just seems to be missing something.

I am really looking for something that if you take away my name, people who know me, will recognize the logo without the name. If that makes any sense :D

 Thank you all thus far, I hope I am not being too nitpicky. If anyone is interested, I would still like to see a few more a bit more inline with the samples I posted in message #16. Thanks!

Hi Everyone.

Thanks for the additional versions. While I like them all there just seems to be something missing. Nothing is really sticking out to me as being the one. I apologize because I am probably not articulating well what I am looking for. The designs thus far have been fun, and bold which I want but I feel like they are missing the classy aspect I am looking for. I am looking to bring in a higher economic class, but the designs just don't speak expensive to me. Expensive might not be the right word, but I want people to see that they are going to get quality but it is going to cost them and I don't want them to be afraid to let go and spend a bit more. Does that make any sense?

If any one is willing to give it another go around, I would be greatly appreciative. I am going to give this until Saturday and then if need be I will extend the due date.

I really appreciate everything everyone has done thus far. You are all quite talented and I appreciate your patience. I am so excited by many of the designs I have previously seen you design, so I know it is just a matter of time until we get it right. Thanks again!

Thanks so much. I really like this one!! You certainly captured the classy look I was looking for, but it is still fun. The color's are a bit off, but that is minor at this point. Thank you so much.

Thanks so much for the design. I really like this one as well. I am not sure about the dot outline, could that maybe me made solid lines. I like the flower idea, but perhaps you could make it a bit dantier (is that a word, lol). Thanks again.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the new submissions.

Nhr, thanks for joining in. I like the design but it is just not what I am looking for.

Taldo, I like the new design as well, version 4. Could we try it with out the brown and pink on the top and bottom edge, with the design just ending with the white lines. Could the light pink part inside be made brown or darker pink and then the font the other one.

The design from message #34 is still my favorite at this point, if anyone else would like to try a different version similar to that.

Thanks everyone, have a great night!

Hi xpressions,

Thanks for the reply. I apologize I did not mean I wanted another revision from you. I meant more if there were any other designers that wanted to give it another try along the same lines as the one you designed. At this point, your design, ver. 3 is the winner so far, I just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to submit another design before I made my final decision. Thanks so much ... have a great night.

Hi Pracus,

Thanks for the design and joining in. I like the concept of your design, but can I make a few recommendations? First the colors are wrong, can you try them with my colors of a medium brown and hot pink. The colors used currently kind of throw me off. I like the font you used. The rectanular shape around "knp", could that me taken out? I would kind of like the see the "knp" just on top of the swiggly lines. Thanks for joining in.

Fabian,

Thanks for the quick redesign. You are definately on a better track with version 2, but I am not sure how I feel about the object within the circle.

To all,

Again I am looking for something classy yet fun and bold. The designs are definately getting closer to what I am looking for. If anyone else wants to give it another round that would be wonderful. I should be getting ready to make my decision soon. Thanks for all the hard work and the very creative designs.

Hi Pracus,

Version 3 is definately on the right track, but that design is a bit to busy for my taste. I like the leave like design, but the two larger ones just make me think of wings when I look at them.

Version 2 is also on the right track but the lines right now kind of look like scribles to me. They would need to be a lot more elegant looking.

Thanks so far.

Hi Everyone!

I am back again to give this logo design another try. I apologize that I have been absent. The new news that is really going to affect my logo is that I am going to be opening a studio!!! I previously worked from home, so I am now in the process of redo several aspects of my business and the logo will be the biggest part of that. And ofcourse I need my new logo to finish everything else.

I also added the award amount so it is now at $225. I am really hoping to work with all you wonderful people to get what I am looking for. The last try around did not quite capture what I am looking for but I know the talent is out there so I feel really good about it.

My favorite design from the previous round was xpressions ver. 3. My only thought about this one is it might be a bit too classy and does not quite display the fun side of my business.

To recap, I am both a wedding and portrait photographer. Obviously they are two completely different markets/clientelle but I am hoping the logo will be able to merge them. My wedding photography is a mix of traditional and photojournalism. I like to throw a bit of fashion photography in there as well. I am looking to attact classy brides and grooms, but ones that also have a great personality, know how to express it and can have fun! And maybe even take a few risks. For my portrait side, I primarily photography children but not so much in the typical way. My portrait photography is very much capturing the emotions of the children. I like bold colors and and high contrast. I am also looking into getting into high school senior photography. If any one has teenagers you know in order to attract them, the item needs to be young, hip and bold.

So hopefully that will give you a bit of a better understanding of what I am looking for. I want classy, but something that also says fun. I do not want anything too busy (a little bit is okay). I do not want anything retro. It needs to be contemporary, hip, but still have a classy touch. Please do not let the previous designs influence your new designs.

AGAIN, PLEASE LOOK AT THE FOLLOWING LINK: http://www.slslogodesign.blogspot.com/. I really like the designs there and would love mind to look similar!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sense??? Hopefully. They should be updating the award amount soon, so I look forward to working with everyone again. Oh yeah, new DEADLINE: Feb. 21. Thanks everyone!

knphotography
02-11-2008, 03:29 PM
Oh yeah one other thing ....

With the impending opening of my studio, I am considering changing my name to "KNP Studio" versus Kimberly Noel Photography. Therefore the logo design would need to be flexible to work with either name I decide on. Thanks!

Thanks for the designs. They are definately on the right track. For verison one can I see it in pink and chocolate brown. The orange is not doing it for me.

For verison 2, can you use the pink color you used in verison 1 versus the light pink/purple color. Also I don't like the font of KNP, could you try it with a different font. Thanks!

Thanks Offbeat for the redesigns. In version 4 and I still not quite sold on the font, although its getting better. Could you try a font similiar to the font in xpressions version 3, post 34, but not quite a fancy. Also I am wondering instead of the brown half cirlces around the larger oval, could you try something similar to the swirlies in the below samples. I'm not sure if that would work on not, but just a thought I had.

Thanks again for the submissions. Just as an update, I've decide to keep my name as Kimberly Noel Photography.

Offbeat, thank you again for all the design choices. You have been busy!
- Version 10 I really like but something about the brown half circles around the larger circle just bugs me. Could they be taken off (although I don't know if it will be too plan then) or could you try some different option?
- Version 12: I think this one is my favorite. First off could I see it with Kimberly Noel Photography instead. With Kimberly being on one side of the design, Noel on the other and Photography underneath. Could the "photography" be a bit of a cursive font. Also as an off shot of this design ... could I possibly see the design element much larger, slightly faded in the background with the text over top the design element.

Thanks again offbeat. I truly appreciate it!

Artemii - Thanks for joining in and taking the time. Your design is not in line with what I am looking for.

Taldo - Thank you for the submission. I like this. Can you possible redo it with my colors, the brighter pink and chocolate brown? Also, could I see the KNP part in a different font, perhaps something with a bit more cursive feel to it. Can I also see the KNP with the design element on the ends instead of the middle? Thanks for adding the watermark element!!

Deanna- Thank you for your submission as well. These three new designs do not fit with what I am looking for. I appreciate the submissions and feel free if you are so inclined to submit another more in line with some of the previous comments I made. Thanks!

nhr - Thank you for the submission. Could you also take a look at my colors and perhaps have the design with the pink and brown. I like the idea of this design, except that I do not like the design element inside of the box. Could that be tweaked a bit?

Offbeat - Thank you so much for the redesigns. Version 17, I like but I find it a bit boring now I think without the outside design element. It just looks like it is missing something. For version 16, could I possible see the background design element a bit darker. I looks pretty washed out right now. I am not a huge fan of the font. I am looking for something a bit more scripty. I will have to search for a font that fits with what is in my head. Version 15 is good, its still just the font.

Thanks everyone ... I think we are getting a bit closer! Keep them coming!

Thanks Offbeat ... I really appreciate the different font options, that's just what I needed. Ver. 15 is much better. I think I like the font of A the best. I also like D for my name, but I like the font of "photography" in A best.

I really like the concept of ver. 19 (wow, you've done a lot of these for me, lol). It's just a bit too bold. I like ver. A best .. but I am thinking that perhaps just having the outside design element (around the circle) being just an outline versus completely filled in. Does that make sense? Also with this design ... if this is asking too much I completely understand ... but if you look above in my post #93 where I posted a design done for Leah Charbonneau photography. If you look at the first one, with the swirly lines behind the square .. I would love to see a design element like that behind the circle you created in version 19.

Thanks for all your revisions .. I truly appreciate it!

Deanna -

Any chance you want to design something for me like or the same as the one I posted above that you did for Leah Charbonneau Photography? I love that design!!!!!!!! That is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks!

Offbeat ... thanks again for the resigns. v20 and v21 are nice but they look too much like snowflakes to me. v. 22 is one the right track, but something about it just says too bold and big. I like the swirls, but I want something a bit more dainty looking. v23 is nice, but its just not speaking out to me (but on the brighter side, my husband liked it, lol)

Taldo - Thanks for the redesign. The color are not quite right, but that is a minor detail. I like the design element on the end of "knp" better, but I still do not like that font.

Thanks everyone! We are getting close to the deadline so I would love to see any other designs you might like to offer. Thanks!

Hi Offbeat ... thanks again! I am going to ask for one more revision. Would it be possible to have, the circle smaller with just "knp" inside and then my "Kimberly Noel Photography" underneath the design?

Sure thing. If neither of these fonts work, we can find one that does. Thanks.

Thanks offbeat ... that is much better. I am not completely sold on the font, but that is minor. Thanks so much!

Hi,

I noticed that one of the designs you posted was mine, and since that was not chosen as the design for that logo I have adapted it for you.

Thanks,
Deanna

Hi xpressions:

Could I please see this design with the colors a bit closer to the ones I mentioned. Chocolate brown and hot pink .. the closest I could find were for the brown - PMS 469 and for the pink - PMS 812 2X

Thanks!

First off, I want to thank everyone for their wonderful designs and their patience for dealing with me. The winner of this project is xpressions with version 5.

I have to give props to Offbeat. He had 28 different versions for me. That is amazing!! Thanks for being so patient and working so hard.

xpressions: Thanks for the beautiful design. The colors are still a bit off, can we work on that. Neither the pink or brown are dark enough. Can you look at my website http://www.kimberlynoelphotography.com perhaps that can give you a better idea of the colors I am looking for. Otherwise, if you can direct me to a good place where I can pick out exact colors and let you know their names or numbers. Thanks!!!

Hi xpressions ...

I received the files, thank you. On second look in more detail and larger, I feel the colors still are not quite right. The pink is a bit too bright and not dark enough and the the brown is also not dark enough. Is there anyway to try the colors again. I apologize for the inconvenience. Thanks!

Hi. Do you have the color codes (not PMS) that you currently use and I will try to match it better that way. Regards,
