Prize: $150
Deadline: Friday, October 10

Company: Raymond James Financial Services
Conference: 2004 National Conference for Professional Development.
Theme: Going for the Gold

We are in need of a professional, two-color logo for our upcoming national conference. We’ve decided on the theme “Going for the Gold” because the conference is taking place during an Olympic year in a past Olympic site (Salt Lake City). Also, one of our corporate goals is to become the gold standard in the financial services industry. We are a financial services firm with a strong focus on long-term financial planning. This conference will offer our Financial Advisors educational and networking opportunities.

We are interested in a two-color logo (using PMS colors). This logo will be used in print materials, on banners and in electronic communications. We envision a clean, professional logo with graphical or typographical elements we can tie into our marketing materials.

We definitely want the words “Going for the Gold” in the design, however we’re torn on whether to include the company and conference name. In the past, we’ve just added the additional verbiage elsewhere on our material to keep the logo from looking too busy. We’re fine with doing that again, but if you can work the information in without it looking cluttered, we’d love to see what you can do.

Please let me know if you need any additional information. I look forward to seeing your ideas!

Thank you,
Crystal

You all are off to a great start! A couple comments ...

Pennyln: Very creative concept! One thing I forgot to mention is that this logo will also be embroidered on a conference bag and I'm a little concerned about how well the "sunburst" will work in that application (although I truly like it). Maybe you could try it without that effect? Also, is the gold you used a metallic PMS? I'd like to try and stay away from that because it's going to be used in so many different applications and price may become an issue. I really like the fonts you chose, especially the one you used for "2004." Would love to see some other color options, too.

Elkkootcho: The torch ... what a good idea. I would be interested in seeing a couple variations of this concept.

2square: Please go ahead and submit your ideas ... I'd really like to see what you have in mind as well.

Has anyone thought of using a gold medal?

Thanks for all your hard work so far!

Bill ~ I've shared the logos with others around the office and your first idea has gone over the best so far. :D It's so well liked that, if we go with it, we think we would go ahead and pay for the metallic gold. You used 871, right? Could you please go back to that original one and try it with a couple different blues instead of black (maybe 2767 as one option)? Also, could you please do two versions side by side ... one with the "sunburst" effect and one without? We may end up using the "sunburst" one in print materials and the flat one on the embroidered bags.
Thanks so much!!!

Here it is in 871 gold and 2767 blue.
I like the looks of the blue!

Bill ~ Thanks for making those changes. I agree, the blue looks great!

Ryan ~ Thanks for making this a competition! :D I was beginning to think nobody else was going to enter!!! I like the concept of aiming/concentration, but I'm a little concerned about using the javeline ... we would like something a little more visually appealing ... It almost looks like a sword, which is a bit more intense than what we're going after.

All other designers ~ I'd really like to see some more ideas! The contest isn't over yet! :D

How about a gold medal of some sort? I see something a bit abstract ... not too realistic. Thanks for all your hard work everyone!!

You're right, Ryan, the simple logo does seem like it's missing something. That's why I need you all to keep me on the right track!!! :D
