The Name of the site is: The Wedding Lens

Our guarantee will be that we will help you get more pictures of your entire wedding experience than any other site will do. The pictures can be from all your wedding events, from every angle, and from every guest.

Project Summary:
==================
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
The Wedding Lens

What type of product or service do you offer?
It is a photo sharing site in which the bride and groom can invite all of their guests to upload photos from the digital cameras that they bring. It will be designed to capture photos (and eventually video) from all of the bride and grooms events, such as showers, rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, dinner, late night, any post wedding gift parties, honeymoon, etc...

How long have you been in business?
Since 2007

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We want to appeal to brides and friends of brides. We offer a service that will help brides capture more photos of their wedding than any other wedding-related service. We let them see their wedding from any and all angles.

What are your long term goals?
To be a complete memory capturing and sharing site of the wedding and all of the events surrounding the wedding. We want to have a friendly posture towards professional photographers. We are not their competition, but a complement to what they do.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
1/28

Audience Profile: Please describe your existing audience
27 year old females that are getting married for the first time. They have been looking forward to this day for their entire life, we want to help them see it from all angles. They are modern, classy and elegant, not necessarily tech-savvy.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Should be appealing to and resonate with wedding attendees - our experience is that it is mostly females that upload photos.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Simple, elegant, legible, soft colors, but not too old school for a wedding. Modern wedding style.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Softer colors, wedding colors

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? Nothing in particular but we want to stress "your wedding from every angle". Emphasis on the group contribution and sharing of photos is a plus.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
We do this better then anyone else.
We focus on capturing wedding memories and present a simple way to relive the wedding.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Placeholder is "don't miss a memory" - not 100% sure of that yet.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We get more photos than any other service, reliable.

Where will your new logo be used?
Website, print, emails, business cards

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
weddingbee.com (isn't a competitor) but in the space and like their logo/theme
theknot.com: simple to the point, but not descriptive unless you have context.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We can help you capture photos from all angles, all guests, and all aspects of your wedding experience (showers, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, wedding, honeymoon,...) - our competitors don't put all that together in a single place.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
The most photos from your wedding.

The winning designer will get more work for this post. We also are going to want a home page design and button theme through out. see current site at www.groupshots.com (old Name) does this help make it interesting for anyone?

Logoholik: Thanks for the submission, but I'm not really feeling the symbolism of this one.
what works for me: elegant font, cleanly readable
what doesn't work: the "arc" motif isn't symbolic enough, same goes for the "crown". colors are too muted as well.

Can you make it more obvious that this is about photography and from multiple angles. We want to make sure that there is no confusion what role we fill within a wedding. emphasize pictures please.

To all: let's leave out the "Don't miss a memory" tagline from the logo, we're not set on that line yet.

Here's logo-specific feedback:

@Kekepania: I like this direction. V2 looks more elegant than V1. Is there a way to improve the visual impact of the "photos" element? It's hard to identify the photos when the logo is small and b&w. Any way to emphasize the group contribution of the photos?

@Fran: Definitely like this direction. The shapes are abstract enough to be interesting while still evoking pictures. Not sure how I feel about the stars - hard to tell what they evoke? Color-wise it seems a bit too uniform - can I see more versions in this direction?

@Blesseville: Still not feeling it from this motif, although V4 is a neat way to invoke the camera imagery. Perhaps some other wedding-related imagery, like a lens, a ring, a veil, a dove, etc. could be interesting.

Overall, things are looking good and shaping up. I'm really excited about this - can't wait to see the next rev's!

Thanks for the new logos:

-Titania, this is a bit too busy for us. we are looking for something a bit more simple and elegant. we want colors that are less pastel as well.

-Fran, this is more in the right direction. I like the rings, brings in the wedding very well. also, any way to make it a bit more substantial then what is hear. I like simple, but it feels like we need more presence then this design. thanks.

@Titania: Some extra feedback. The logo feels too tall, and the multi-color spotlights are too busy. But the font is nice, and the playful feeling is a great thing. Would love to see revisions that are compact and toned-down a bit, but still playful and exciting.

@Kekepania: Not feeling the colors in the logo. Also the "O" doesn't really stand out in terms of lens imagery.

thanks for all the new revisions

@titania - definitely like the fun photo direction. any way to make it more romantic/weddding-ish? how about a different color for the font?

@taldo - i like the quality of the logo, but not so much the direction. it's good that it has the photo-theme but it feels too stiff.

@fran - version 4 is too heavy. it still feels like it's missing something.

To all: let's stay away from the all-caps fonts? Makes the logos feel stuffier than I think they should be.

@Fran: liking this one, heading in a good direction with the heart on the pictures. any way to make those color blocks look more like pictures, esp. in the b&w version? the text is simplistic, and feels too detached from the image portion of the logo

@Blesseville: not feeling the ring motif, nor the font. the colors match nicely though.

The deadline's coming up, and I think we're close to getting something really solid. Can't wait to see the next round, I'll give feedback asap.

some more general feedback for all:

let's see some more creative variations of the text. when you look at other wedding sites you'll notice that the text of the logo is the main focus and the images (if there any) are complementary. if the image is going to be on the side of the text, make sure it isn't too much larger (we need to put this at the header of a website). the other option is to integrate the imagery into the text in a creative manner.

http://www.diybride.com/ - creative text w/ integrated image
http://www.nearlyweds.com/ - clean simple text with complementary image
http://theknot.com/ - creative text that evokes imagery of a "knot"
http://www.weddingbee.com/ - fun font
http://www.theflirtyguide.com/ - fun font
http://www.projectwedding.com - simple image integrated with the font

Keep up the good work! :)

At this point, the top 3 IMO are #25 (Titania), #38(Fran), and #40(Taldo). All three display the level of quality, cleanliness, color and appealing imagery that we like. Some specific feedback for each:

@Titania: Like the fun font and its integration with the rest of the logo. Like the easily identifiable photos. Any way to make the logo more compact size-wise?

@Fran: Like the colors. Can you make the photos more identifiable? Also, any way to incorporate the words and the graphic more tightly?

@Taldo: Like the heart image. How would it look if it was a bit bigger? "LENS" is a bit big, and doesn't quite look like photos. Also, the lens reflection effect on the letters is nice, but a bit bright, making them hard to read. Possible to tone that down a bit? Any other variations for the word "wedding", in terms of color & style?

thanks!

ctemp
01-31-2008, 09:01 AM
Fran - in relation to message 44 - the heart feels to prominent, is there anyway to tone it down? maybe incorporate the concept of the silhouette in message 12 into message 44.

Kekepania - good colors, need to get more wedding emphasis, too playful (feels more like a birthday) need to get "The" in the logo

offbeatdesign - neither look like rings or lens. interesting concept, but how can we do it so it is more obvious. font is a little too much, but not bad. font and logo don't seem to integrate very well.

xpressions - make the e easier to read, fix spelling on lense to lens, play with color variations or can we see with an accent color integrated into the design, we like the emphasis on wedding, we like the use of [ ], we like small amount of ornateness, good mix of elegance, clean looking and fun

offbeat design - can you try a small diamond on one of the rings, anyway to incorporate the double rings into the word wedding, or even the dd's, font reminds me of yahoo too much, we like the combo of the rings and the lens eye, but somehow they are not working in this logo yet for me.

ctemp
01-31-2008, 12:17 PM
Taldo - we like "the wedding" part a lot, but not seeing the connection with lens part. they seem disjointed. the lens part is a bit too playful. what can you iterate on the Lens part of the logo.

@offbeatdesign (#58): better than before, but still feels a bit busy on the 'dd's. Also hard to recognize that they're lenses.

@xpressions (#59): i really like your creativity and choice of font, the lettering looks nice on this one. the mosaic design is interesting and original but somewhat hard to identify without a closer look - maybe it could be sharpened somehow?

Here is a first pass at the revision. I have focused more on the shape of the "e" first. Is this one more in line with what you had in mind? Or??

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y185/nemagazine/wedlense4.png

ctemp
02-01-2008, 03:56 PM
@Fran: #64 looks good, especially the more faded heart. any way to incorporate the 'kissing' silhouette from one of your earlier versions?

@titania: #65 is a nice improvement, esp. the b&w version. The text is a bit too playful, any way to up the "elegant" factor?

@taldo: #66 looks good, feels a bit tall though. like the tilted heart with the reflection on it. maybe put more space between "wedding" and "lens", otherwise it looks like a run-on?

@offbeatdesign: I like #67 more than #68. Let's try stepping away from the 'lens' motif - the linked rings by themselves are a nice touch.

@xpressions: looking good. the 'e' is more readable, but still not quite as clean as we'd prefer. any way to clean that letter up a bit more? or maybe try the ornate-ness and pictures on the tail of the 'g' instead, moving the 'lens' to the left?

Fran

xpressions, can you please make the following minor changes:

1.
a. make the photos look like hanging polaroids
also, please try variations of the following:
(1) an ornate 'g' instead of the 'e'
(2) either no braces around 'lens', or stronger, more distinctive ones
(3) a less ornate 'e'

2. make all of the font the same, no ornateness and put the [ ] around weddings, so looking something like

the
[wedding]
lens

Can we see it in the color of message 49, your first color?

we like where version 8 is going. i think we're almost there, just a few more requests:

- can you connect the horizontal line in the 'e'?
- anyway to expose the bottom of the 'e' more (where the photos hang)? make it a bit more legible
- color looks a little muted, can we see 2 other colors? - 1 more romantic, 1 more playful? and, if possible, let us know what the 2-3 complementary colors would be for that color?

thanks! it's looking good.

xpressions, heading in the right direction. i definitely like the combination of two colors in the logo over a single color.

structure-wise, things look good. only thing is that with the introduction of the 2nd color, the photos look disjoint from the tail of the 'e'. can you try adding thin hanging lines for the pictures, so it looks like they're hung from the tail of the 'e'?

color-wise, not feeling a lot for any of these combos. #2 is most appealing IMO, because i like that 'wedding' is in a darker (and thus bolder) color than 'the' and 'lens'. can you try the darker 'wedding'/lighter 'lens' combo with some other, bolder colors?

additionally, i liked the blue you used in the previous revisions, can you try some 2-color versions with that, but perhaps a bolder version?

thanks!

looking great: sorry, we like but trying to get past that final hump. can we see N more versions

can we see one: the second one down in version 10 with a shade darker blue then PMS658U for all of the letters "the wedding lens" and accent the photos only in warm gray without the nails, but leave the strings

can we see a second one that: is version 9 second one down with Warm Gray 9U for all of the words "the wedding lens" but the leaving the photos the PMS5503U. no strings, no nails, leave photos like they are in version 9

can we see a third one that: feminine colors of your choice (kind of like version 9, number 1) with all of the text "the wedding lens" the same color, and the photos a different accent color.
