(Admin code added by Palmer - P2881730F)
I was very happy with the winning template from my first contest here, so I have decided to post another one B).
I plan on launching a free buddy icons site. The domain name will be FreeAimIcons.com.
Some Aim Icons Sites Out There:
http://www.ballericons.com
http://www.rollinbuddy.com
http://www.originalicons.com
http://www.aimbuddy.com
http://www.buddyicon.info <-- I really like this one!
http://www.imbum.com
I dont have a logo for my site, so I basically want you to make one, I mean, I dont want you to just use text.
Requirements:
-> Must allow for a Sky Scraper ad [120 x 600 pixels].
-> Must allow for either a 468 x 60 banner ad, or a 728 x 90 letter board ad.
-> Must have side bar listing all the buddy icon sections [eg. movie icons, violent icons, etc.].
Thats basically it, I am allowing you all some freedom, however I will guide you in the right direction once some of you post some templates. Good luck! and, Get posting! I get nervous when you guys wait a couple days ;).
Deadline: 10 Days [Ending on October 16]
P.S: More time will be alloted to the contest if needed, or if I am not yet satisfied with the templates being submitted.

I think a 3 collumn design would fit best with this site as it allows for the skyscraper the middle collumn for the icons and then the icon categories on the other side. Sort of like www.rollinbuddy.com
I want to join but im not good with illustrations.

Thanks for your submission DistrubReality, and thank you for putting in the ad space (most people forget ;)). However, I dont like the buttons, because, I will have alot of categories and I dont want to have so many images, I need the category links to be text. I also need links for submitting icons, contact, etc. I would say, less graphic intensive, also, a different logo among other thins. Thanks for taking the plunge with the first entry!

I'll be submitting an entry hopefully within the next day or two.
I have a couple questions though.
1) Will there be a members area or newsletter? Just wondering so I know whether to incorporate forms for them into the design.
2) What do you want from the winner? Just the psd, or psd + initial coding? Any other special requirements we should know about?
Thanks :)

Ill be looking forward to your entry:
here are the answers to your questions:
1) I dont think so... I am still debating whether to use a members section or not..
2) Yes I would like the template to be skinned cleanly, with as little use of graphics as possible. I had a problem with this issue on my last contest..

So far I like Element, and Hary Iguanas designs the most.
Element: Great Job, I dont have to many suggestions other then: Where it says categories at the top, I dunno.. it doesnt flow well with the rest of the icons nav you know? I need it to say Icon Categories there but, can you fool around with that area? Also can you make it like 740px wide, and add a background image, or color. I mean like in the background behind the table.
Hairy Iguana: Can you try a different font for the colored nav tabs? That ones to "playful". Also, can you make the nav tabs look a little smoother around the edges?
Prelude: Can you make the skyscrapers box less wide, and try some different text for the logo. Also, can you do something about the top gradient, I dunno what though... lol.
If you guys could make an example icons page that would be great, a sub section page, not the main page you know.
P.S - Prelude, and Weevox. Weevox, I dunno your design seems to corporate to me, like a hosting company template or something..

Hi Moxsum,
Thanks for the feedback. I don't know what happened with that categories header, must have been an oversight ;)
I've fixed up the few suggested things.
740px wide, background added, and of course, headers more cleaner and distinct :)
I've also added another colour combo for your viewing.
Let me know what you think, and if you want anything else changed up.
Thanks!
Adil

Is it the type of gradients, colors or layout that makes it look more corporate ? Please let me know, I'll try my best to fix the problem.

Thanks for your second attempts prelude, and iguana. Right know I am definitely leaning towards elements design, he is probably the winner, in a couple hours I will post whether I am going to extend this competition or not, but right know it doesnt look like it. Element, can you show me a sub page, thanks. Also remember element I will need you to hand code my template cleanly to optomise page loading time as much as possible while still keeping the design exactly the same, thanks.

Hi Moxsum,
I'm starting the sub page now and will hopefully post it in the next hour.
Regarding coding, that's no problem if I do win. I've been hand coding for some time now and always make sure my code is optimized as best as can be.
Alright, off to finish the sub page :)

I'm not sure if you'll have a "sort" section, but just thought I'd add it in case.
Let me know if you'd like anything changed around. :)
