Due Feb. 24
$100

General
We are a wedding supply store in northern VA, right outside of DC. We need postcards to mail out to bride lists that we receive from participating in bridal shows. Since there aren't any stores like us in the area, we really need to get across that we are an actual physical store that is dedicated to wedding supplies, wedding invitations, etc. People often assume we are planners, which we aren't. We want something trendy and hip. Nothing too traditional looking.

Color
Full color front, Black and white back.
Gotprint.com requirements: All color artwork and/or images must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode.
All black & white artworks and/or images must be provided in grayscale color mode.
Heavy black ink might cause smearing.

Size
4"x6"

GotPrint Requirements
We accept the following file formats TIF, TIFF, JPG, EPS, PNG and PDF.
All file formats must have a minimum of 350 dpi (dot per inch) resolution.
The images designed for the web done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi. Print images need to be created at 350 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.
Please build your press-ready digital files by adding 0 .1" dimension for business cards, postcards, rackcards, add 0.125" for all other products.
We require ALL files to be built to the full bleed dimension specified for each trim size.
We automatically trim 0.05" or 0.0625" off of each edge, which will result in the desired trim size
Simply add 0.1" or 0.125" to the overall dimension of your digital layout.

On the FRONT:
On the front I would like our logo, and just some type of picture or pictures. No text... at least a sentence or less.
If we include text, maybe something like "All the details..." or "All the details that make up a perfect wedding." We're definitely open to a new tagline too.

On the BACK:
On the back I would like a repeat of our logo, and the following info:
Address: 16 South King Street Leesburg, VA 20175
Phone: (703)443-1833
Website: Shop online anytime at idoweddingessentials.com
and text:
"When I planned my wedding in 2004, I hated buying things over the Internet. I really wanted to see and touch everything that I was buying and party stores had modest selections. It’s your wedding day and you want every detail to be perfect.

This is why I created I Do Wedding Essentials – a store where you can get supplies AND ideas all in one place. Planning is hard. Make it easy. We sell practically everything you need - minus your dress. We carry invitations, cake tops, favor supplies and more! We also offer custom design services for candy buffets, favors, silk florals and beaded bouquets.

Make I Do Wedding Essentials your one-stop wedding shop."

We can shorten the text on the back if it doesn't all fit. Again, we want to mention our design services but really stress that we are a retail store so that people aren't confused.

I will attach some product pictures and logo.

Thank You!

Hi, thanks for the submission. I like it! You can take the "Address" and "Phone" labels off the back of the card. On the front, I'll post a few more pictures that you can put in place of your stock photos. Thanks.

OK, here's some more photos. I hate how flat that Bride bag looks so you can replace with the bridesmaid tote. The rock candy pic is from a candy buffet, so that would probably be a good one to add somewhere. I threw in a purse since you already had one and a couple favor pics to choose from.

Thanks again.

Hi, Please see revised attached. I am still using the bouquet stock image, you prefer to replace it with other options you sent or keep it? Let me know and i will adjust it .

One question: do you have higher resolution of the rock candy image? Thanks.

crosbyke
02-19-2008, 08:10 AM
Hi, no, I don't have anything better of the rock candy. If you think it's too grainy, you can take it out. I'd rather lose the bouquet since we only do silks, and we rarely do those.

Oh, and add the address and phone number back in. I just didn't like the words "address" and "phone" labelling them.

Here is my try at the front. I'm working on the back too and will post it soon! Feedback appreciated. :) Thanks.

Sarah,
Can you try another picture? I just want to keep these pretty unseasonal so I can send them out again in the fall. I like the concept with the wording, though.

Sarah,
I think we like the one with the cake top the best. I have the cake top on my business cards, so it goes well with them. We will consider that version in our final decision. Can you give us a mock-up of the back?

Congratulations Sarah.

Client, please post a note in the thread once you receive the final files.

Thanks! :)

Woah, wait a second. We didn't mean that we wanted that as our final design. I'm sorry for the confusion. We still wanted to see any other designs that were going to show up and then decide between that version of Sarah's and the nutscreative postcard.

Sarah,
We will consider that version in our final decision.

Oops; my fault. I misread that as "we will consider that version our final decision"; sorry.

Moved back to Miscellaneous.

Hi there, attached is my design for the back. Suggestions/feedback very much appreciated! I'm not sure if you want the address lines on the right hand side? Are you going to be addressing these yourself? I can easily remove them if not.

PS: I've saved this one as higher res. Since there is more text, it makes it a bit easier to read. That's why it looks larger than the front, though. :)

Thank you!

Sarah-Back looks fine. We wouldn't need the lines on the right because we always use labels.

Hi Again,
Here is another idea for the back. What do you think about this image of the bride and groom? It would be much more crisp/clear, this is just the low resolution, water-marked version from the stock site.

I've also removed the right hand lines.

Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.

nutscreative - can you try to dress up the back a little? Maybe even just changing the font a little?

Jeff - can you change that background color on the front? I just don't like that flesh color. And I don't think I'm too keen on the faded look in the corners. Can you do something else to make the pictures stand out?

Sarah - the bride and groom are cute. they can stay.

Jeff - the bottom version is much better. Thanks!

OK Everyone, we have three versions now that we love so we will think about them and let you know who we're going to go with. Thank you for all your hard work. I will let you know later today or tomorrow.

Congratulations nutscreative, we would like you use your design! Thank you everyone else for your submissions. It was a difficult choice.

We would like to make a few adjustments to the back of the card, but that's all.

Thanks!

Hi, I like the script idea, but it's a little to "fly-away" for me... and we don't want to get too traditional looking. Can you try a different font?

Also, is the circle perfect with the cake top on the front? On my computer, it looks like there is a flat spot on the left side.

Hi,
Can you change all the words on the front to be like the first example on the last post? All in that script? I don't think I like the two fonts on the front. We'll either go with the original non-script font for everything or that script on the whole front.

OK, we're going to go with the original font - no script. I like the script but for some reason I like the nice clean lettering better. So basically let's go with post #15 version. The only change I want is a space in the phone number between the parentheses and the rest of the number: (703) 443-1833. That's it. We are good to go after that.

Thanks!

Hi crosbyke, I think is ok. All images are in 300dpi (since the images you provided are quite small, the max. size could do is 300 dpi and its fine cos i do all printing at 300dpi.) and i will create a output file with 0.25" bleed. I will post the output file tonight. Thanks.
