Project Summary:<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Racing4MS aims to not only raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis, but to encourage and support those affected and their families to continue to strive for their own personal dreams and goals.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
We encourage people to ‘Live life to the full’

we need a new site and have some ideas of what it should look like, but are open to alternatives

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?<o:p></o:p>
we have a basic site header and wish to continue using it, though with some tweaking - see www.racing4ms.org/forums (http://www.racing4ms.org/forums) for what is in use at the moment.

What type of product or service do you offer?<o:p></o:p>
we have two main core businesses, offering of dreams to those with MS (and their care givers) and operating a motorcycle racing team to promote the concept that success and disabilities can go hand in hand

How long have you been in business?<o:p></o:p>
3-4 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?<o:p></o:p>
we are launching a drive to raise funds to run the racing team, and at the same time wish to promote the Dreams concept to interested parties

What are your long term goals?<o:p></o:p>
we want to be associated with the concept of success associated with disabilities and try and promote the positive aspects of living with a disability

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?<o:p></o:p>
asap

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience<o:p></o:p>
A cross section of the general public.<o:p></o:p>

Who would you like to add to your audience?<o:p></o:p>
Probably mostly motor sport enthusiasts and those with MS and their families.<o:p></o:p>
Mostly Australian initially<o:p></o:p>

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?<o:p></o:p>
we have logo's already in use and plan to keep the general look.

Do you have any colours in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)<o:p></o:p>
black, yellow, red. cos we like the look of them so far :)

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?<o:p></o:p>
see above and attached

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

What is your tagline or slogan?<o:p></o:p>
same dreams different challenges, and living life to the full.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?<o:p></o:p>
we want them to buy in, either emotionally or financially, so they feel that they are making a difference

Where will your new logo be used?

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
to some extent the starlight foundation and make a wish foundation could be seen as competition, though they focus on children as opposed to us mostly focusing on adults.<o:p></o:p>
Redballoondays offers the kind of thing we do and want to offer, though they charge and we don’t.<o:p></o:p>

List competitive URLs if possible<o:p></o:p>
www.starlight.org.au www.makeawish.org.au (http://www.makeawish.org.au/) www.redballoondays.com.au/<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>

--------------------<o:p></o:p>
Designoutpost has already done some work for us, see http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14733 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14733)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
we want to build a website using expressionengine (www.expressionengine.com (http://www.expressionengine.com/)) a program that uses templates.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Our existing front page www.racing4ms.org (http://www.racing4ms.org/) was written in flash and we are unable to make any changes to it ourselves, hence the concept of using blog type templates. You will notice that the front page redirects to our forums, since that is where we do have control.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Once the design is finalised, we would need someone to build the templates, giving us the freedom to add or change content as needed. That person need not be the successful designer, and will be another paying project.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
We have some early concepts of what we want it to look like, just need some professional help to make it stand out.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
In brief…<o:p></o:p>
One front page selling two different stories – linking to two pages that can be the same template, just with different content<o:p></o:p>
The front page also to have a calendar and news feeds<o:p></o:p>
The links to be along the bottom of the page<o:p></o:p>
We might be adding another different story in the near future, ie Surfing4MS, so would envisage just adding another template under the first two, also giving us the ability of moving the order around as needed.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
The inside page template could be used to all three promotional activities, the motorbike racing team, the dreams forum and the surfing.<o:p></o:p>
These pages would need some text about the relevant activity, a photo and video box, (linking back to our existing forums?), a calendar and links along the bottom.<o:p></o:p>
The page for the race team will need a link to a sign up page that will just be a plain page with data entry fields and a paypal donate button, so that might need to be a plain template?<o:p></o:p>
The page for the dreams will need a link to the forums, where people can learn more about what we have done and have to offer.<o:p></o:p>
Attached are a few initial concepts.

abby has asked me if i want psd or html files. i think the answer is either.

this is part one of two.
the next step after locking in the pages is to build it, preferably in a expressionengine template, as mentioned above. i think they want it written in xhtml, and that was where i was coming unstuck :) i can tinker and edit, but not build.

i am hoping that this part might be the easier of the two, since we have a fairly clear idea of what we want, just need it drawn up professionally.

if the same person can do both then great, they can get the extra build money, otherwise i will put it up as another project and let someone else look after that.

Hi Mark,

I will see if I can work something up for you :)

Hi all,

is anyone else apart from Lori interested in working on this?

i know that i have set out quite a few boundaries, however myabe the challenge is in makeing them work :)
if they freally suck then by all means suggest something else, hopefully in keeping with the KISS principle.

i would really like to get on with building this, since we can't launch the Team R4MS concept without a working site, and that will fund all our activities for the next 12 months.

cheers

Hi Mark,

I have just completed my design on another project (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showpost.php?p=319721&postcount=9) that I promised to work in just before yours, so I have started on my design for you this morning.

Quick question for you before I go any further. Can I please get a raw format of your logo/header so that I can better use it in my design? I am looking for a .ai, or .eps file preferably.

Let me know if you have this :)

i am waiting for that artwork to be finalised, real soon i hope :)
you can grab a better version from the top of our forums, www.racing4ms.org/forums.

if you think it works well then i would like to have the racing4ms banner with the icons and same dreams logo underneath, but worry about it taking too much screen space

looking forward to your submission

Mark,

I have the version from the site :)

What I need is THAT version of the logo in a RAW format.
Can you provide this for me?

Hi Mark glad to see you here again! I have never did any website designs but if you need a static banner or element/ad I would be happy to do that for you for free. I would just need the size. It is the print stuff I can help you with mostly.

Hi Shima,

good to hear from you too, hope all is well.

as luck would have it we do need help with a print type design job :)

as part of the fund raising drive we have just started we want to be able to give people a certificate of membership. this will be delivered electronically and probably personalised. we have some key elements that we want to be in the certificate, but nothing more to work with than that.
interested?

attached are the main elements...

larger versions are available as and when needed.
the certificate will need the words "Certificate of Membership", maybe a number and date, and our address.
the dreams image can be cut down to just include the Racing4MS header if that helps.
the teamr4ms image is the one that will probably incorporate their nameas well, but it might not.

cheers

Sure I will do it. I don't expect any payment for this just to be clear.

So what size does it need to be. Does it need to be like a credit card (mini membership card ) or an actual certificate about 8 x10 or so?

If you can post any other specifics that would be great as well. Also when you have to have this by. If have more time it would be better I can work it in my schedule.

Thanks

Mark I don't know if you need to start another thread or not Lori and Abby would know about that. Since I am doing if for free I don't know how it would work on DO.

Thanks

Good point, not sure if a new thread should be started or we sort it out away from the forum, maybe someone can advise.

the Cert will be A4 size, or about 8x12.
we expect people to print them on their home printer or at work.
the teamR4MS image will be the main focus of the certificate.

also we want it to work in both B&W and colour.
time frame is loose, but would like to be agreeing on most things within a couple of weeks and finalise within 3-4 weeks, since we are promoting memberships this soming weekend so should look at getting certificates etc emailed to people asap.

I will be busy this weekend but next week I will jump on it and give you a few options. I guess it won't hurt to post it on here since there is no money involved its really not going to interfere I suppose:cool:

Hi there one thing to note is that most printers print on 8.5 x 11 paper so it would be better to perhaps make it 8.25 x 10.75. What do you think? or do you still want it A4 size ?

The graphics attached are too small. I have some from the surfboard. I any case if you can email me the vector files and the team file that would be great. Also anything else you think I may need.
