Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Lolley Publishing
What type of product or service do you offer?
Publishing of books, eBooks, electronic courses, audio books, seminars
How long have you been in business?
Start-up business
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Professional branding - we are developing various websites and marketing materials based on the topic or theme of publication. While the theme may change, depending on the book topic, I'd like Lolley Publishing to remain consistent on all of our materials.
What are your long term goals?
Profitable business offering republished materials using out-of-copyright information as well as new books that I'm writing.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 1st
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Audience will vary, depending upon subject of information, but it will definitely focus on home school community as well as entrepreneurs and others who love to read and expand their knowledge.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Since I'm just starting, it could be anybody.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Something that blends the old (book) with the new (CD) in a tasteful arrangement.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Maybe light browns or tans with some accent color - I'm picturing what an older book looks like, accented with newer methods of reading books (CDs)
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Some type of book and CD combination? I thought I liked the book logo at DK Publishing (http://www.dk.com/) because of the initials inside the book, but I'd rather have something that fits the theme of our business better. Unfortunately, I don't know if I want the entire Lolley Publishing in the logo or just L P, until I see something.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
High quality, easy readability, outstanding customer service.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Since I'm brand new, I still need to develop this
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We offer high-quality, alternative methods of reading or participating in self-improvement courses and seminars
Where will your new logo be used?
Print marketing materials, websites, newsletters, inside book information
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
ebooks.com - too modern
planet ebook - too large
selfpublishebooks - doesn't look professional

List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.ebooks.com/
http://www.planetebook.com/mainpage.asp?webpageid=357
http://www.selfpublishebooks.com/index.html
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We aren't going to only offer eBooks. I'd like to also develop reports, courses, audio, etc. I'm also not having one website with massive amounts of books - I will be niche marketing depending on the book topic (this applies to newsletters and regular marketing methods as well).
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
I'm still developing my USP, but I think it would be something about Quality Reading & Learning at Affordable Prices

I haven't seen any replies and was wondering if my concepts for a logo seem too busy or not viable? If there are other suggestions you might have, I'm open to comments.

The design element was created by mirroring and rotating "L" and "P":

Thanks for the different vision, but it isn't obvious that they are L and P rotating.
I'm sorry, I don't think I like this idea - graphically it doesn't say what we are about. Also, it is spelled LOLLEY. Thanks

Post #6 with the book and CD. It is what I asked for, and very simple. Can I see it in different color combinations? The background of all our websites will be a very light beige instead of white, so something that would look nice with earth tones?

Post #6 with book and CD - is there a way to have the book look more realistic than just a clipart? Or do you think this would take away from the simplicity of the logo? We'd also like to see it in a few different font selections, if possible.

xpressions: I like the fonts you've used and the layout of our name. Can you put color on the samples of post #13? I think we're liking that one the best so far because it doesn't look like an open dictionary. We like the CD graphic you've used, it actually looks like a CD in post #13. So far, I like #13 with the CD and pages best, but wonder what it looks like in something other than grey tones or black & white.

xpressions: thank you for the color combinations. Can you make an alteration to the way the pages fan in front of the CD? If I lay a book open and look at the profile, the pages fan out near the bottom, where you have them fanning in. I don't know if that is a change we would stick with, but I'd need to see it to compare the two versions of the pages.
Can you help me with color choices? We want neutral colors so that this logo will look good in a banner that might change colors, depending on the market niche. Would I need to place the logo in a white box? But if the banner were shades of brown, or shades of green, or other autumn colors, would the logo show up well enough by making it colored to start with?
If you look at the following links, his logo is the same, but changes depending on the color banner. Am I asking for something too detailed in order to have this effect?
http://ebook.generatorsoftware.com/
http://pdf.generatorsoftware.com/
http://header.generatorsoftware.com/
(Or any of the generatorsoftware pages) I'm not saying that I like his color schemes, but I like the flexibility of changing colors, depending on the product market.
I'm new to this, so I'm sorry if I'm being difficult - I don't mean to be. Thanks

A big thank you to the designers who helped me with my first project! This was my first time using Design Outpost, and I appreciated the professionalism and help!
The winner that we have selected is from xpressions - the CD with pages fanned in front and our name at the bottom.

xpressions - there are a few alterations that I'd like to see before I make a final decision on which version.
Can you re-arrange how the pages are laid out? If I lay a book open and look at the profile (which is how this is presented), I see the pages fanning out near the bottom, where you have them fanning in. I might also need variations in color so that I can visualize better how this will work in my marketing. I'm looking for a logo color that will go well with different color schemes (without changing the color of the logo elements each time) I don't know what suggestions you might have to offer, but I like earth tones or autumn colors.
Thanks, I look forward to working with you to finish this!

My apologies; for some reason I didn't receive the alert...

Thank you for selecting my design. I do understand what you mean by how the pages fan; they are like that to contour the CD. I will provide you with a revision for your review.

I also see what you mean about using the logo on different backgrounds and will try to provide you with that option as well.

Please allow me a couple of days to put this together for you.

Hi. Here are a couple of revisions on the pages.

The top and black and white are one way and the all white is laid out a little different, plus this one you can use on any background.

Please let me know if you would like to see any further revisions. I will be away at a show until Monday night, but will work on it upon my return. Regards,

Thank You! SO Sorry, we've had family in the emergency room & hospital this week, so I haven't been at the computer much. Please forgive my inattentiveness.
I am very satisfied with your changes, and you said the third one will be seen over various background colors. I like the other two also, and look forward to using them in various marketing materials.
Thank you again for your help. You achieved what I wanted and gave me the confidence to launch our new business with great branding material!

I downloaded and extracted the files, and can view the color and b&W versions fine. I'm having trouble with the transparent one. Can you suggest a photo imaging software that I should be using? Is there a free version available that I can download? I can't open any of the transparent ones to change the background and save as jpeg, as you indicated in your instructions.
Sorry to be a pain.

Hi, what is the problem when trying to view transparency? What program are you using to open up the other files?
