Project Summary:
Logo for wedding/portrait photographer.
My current site:
www.defalcophoto.com
My blog;
www.defalcophoto.com/blog
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
The comapny is "DeFalco Photography" so that's what it needs to say, but the full text can be separate from a logo with initials. I use 'dp' for initials now, but I'm not opposed to using 'dfp.'
What type of product or service do you offer?
I primarily shoot weddings
How long have you been in business?
This will be year #3 - time to get a little more refined.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
My logo isn't very strong, but it's gotten me by. I think I made a bad choice with my font since it's so hard to format into smaller spaces because the type is so tall. I hope to have a logo that's easier to design printed material around - like a business card.
What are your long term goals?
A consistent look I can live with.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 10.
Audience Profile:
Brides, brides, and mothers of brides : ) Mid-priced in a high-end area for weddings.
Please describe your existing audience
Mostly brides, shopping online.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
I love my clients as they are, but a better logo can only help when it comes to the grahically saavy. If I expand into print ads, I'd like to go with a look that improves on what I have now.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
tone is positive, bright, and sharp. I'm a male photographer catering to more feminine taste, but I don't want my studio to look too feminine ( as in logos wth daisies)
What type of logo would you like?
I need something I can scale up or down without loosing identity. I don't want a logo to look like it could be on a subdivision marker or a pharmaceutical package. (ie, narrow type followed by bold) I'd like an illustrated looking logo using either "DP" or "DFP" that can be used separately from the words "DeFalco Photography."
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I've been using a lighter blue, which I still like, but I'm open to suggestions. Probably not red, or a zen like green.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I'm thinking initials - but DeFalco does mean 'the falcon' - I don't know if anyone would ever make that connection in a logo though?
Communication Strategy:
Easy to identify, large or small.
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
My logo is amateur now, so the opposite of that is what I want to reflect.
Where will your new logo be used?
On my website, my blog, my business cards and one-sheets.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
I've seen a lot of circles and sqaures with initials, and a lot of flowery illustrator type graphics, so I'd like to see what other ideas are out there.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
words I think of when I'm working: depth, sharpness, pop, creativity and drama:rolleyes:
