Introduction:

Business Name: Shallowford Family Dental Group

We are a 4 Doctor General Dentistry practice located in Chattanooga, TN. We named our practice Shallowford Family Dental Group because our address is on "Shallowford" Road and lots of people know where this road is and are familiar with it.

The problem with creating a logo in the past was the name of our practice is so long. We tried using the acronym "SFDG" but it was hard to make work and people may not know what that means right away.

My thought is to empahasize the word Shallowford and minimize the words Family Dental Group. maybe put those three words under the word Shallowford.

I like something comparable to the "Francis family Dental" or the "Capital Healthcare" at the following link:

http://www.logodesignguru.com/images/sample_logo/dental_logos.jpg

Or the "Georgia Dental Arts" and "Rowen Dentistry" at the following link:

http://tinyurl.com/2hwd69 <---edited link JenniferJ

Im still open to looking at ideas with the acronym SFDG also.

We have 4 doctors with the following names:

Tom M. Gardenhire, JR, DDS

Charles V. Ankar, DDS

J. David Lewis, DDS

Joeseph Prince, DDS

I want to include these name somewhere on the letterhead.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Shallowford Family Dental Group

What type of product or service do you offer?
Dental Services - full range comprehensive dental care

How long have you been in business?
30 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Create an dentity that expresses quality and level of clasiness

What are your long term goals?
Continue to build the practice into a quality, well known and respected institution

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 24, 2008

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Mostly long-term patients and referrals by them

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Families new to the area, people looking for dentists online, people looking for a new denstist

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Friendly, inviting, comfortable

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I like navy blue and white. I would like to see a scale of blues used "like a gray scale" Dark blue fading into a light blue..

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

I want to stay AWAY from teeth, toothbrushes, smilling teeth. I think a logo that states our name with a little more emphasis on "Shallowford" and a little less on "Family Dental Group"

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Friendly and professional atmosphere, quality work

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We provide pain-free quality dental care, using the latest in technology, in a comfortable environment.

Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, letterhead,envelopes

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Most other dentist have logos that are "cheesy"

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We are the only general dentistry office in Chattanooga the has 4 Doctors in one office.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Quality long-lasting dentistry

Here's a look from me.

kekepania: great start!..the logo reminds me of a smile but in a classy way...lets try focusing on "shallowford" and "family" with "dental group" beneath, maybe have the "S" of shallowford and "Y" of family extend to create a border between them and "dental group"...thanks!

freetime: maybe a little more emphasis on the "S" and less on the rest of the word also lets try to bring "Family" into emphasis and keep "dental group" small...also some type of graphic/icon as a logo as well...thanks!

freetime:nice job with stacking the name...dont care for the star in the logo...can you darken the blue color and change font to something more similar as the "Rowen Dentistry" logo at the following link. Also can you come up with a logo like the Rowen one is, just a symbol that doesnt have letters or teeth or it could be a "ring" like the gray (different color) one around "ray beshears" logo on this same link..thanks

freetime:v3 is very nice...a few suggestions: lets make Shallowford dark blue and family a lighter blue

The logo looks similar to a smile...was that your goal? Lets try to make the "lips" darker and the backround lighter so that the white part in between (teeth) stand out more.

Good work....

kekepania: v3 is my favorite design by you thus far.... however im struggling with the graphic above the words...lets try 2 different ideas:

First: surround the text with a "ring" (see the "ray beshears" logo at the following link:

http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.medical-logos.com/images/dental_logos/browns_line_dental.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.medical-logos.com/dental_logos.php&h=145&w=200&sz=5&hl=en&start=6&um=1&tbnid=oGgphCf6AlCtRM:&tbnh=75&tbnw=104&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddental%2Blogos%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26s a%3DN

Can we make it in a range of blues like start the "ring" with a very light blue and end it in a dark blue

Second: see "pack orthodontics" at the same link as above...lets make "Shallowford Family" in a darker blue and "dental group" in a lighter blue THEN make the letters S & F the logo in a cool font with S being the darker blue and F being the lighter blue

xpressions: nice start...lets take away the upper left part of the smile and change the font to more of a script....also its family dental group not center... and lets stick with a dark blue rather than grey...thanks

kekepania: We like V5, however, the ring is a bit thick. Can we look at it with a thinner ring?

Can we see the "sf" from V7 above the text of v6 (possibly in a box or circle)?

v6 is my favorite, but the design on top is a bit too abstract. Please make it more clear for others to understand?

kekepania: check this link out:

The "Promise Productions" logo has a cool "Circle" halfway around it. Lets try that also around the text in v5 and in place of the globe put the graphic of v3...thanks!

"kekepania: v11 is AWESOME...this is probably the winner...before i make a final decision can you show me what the graphic would look like if you created a subtle tooth at the top of the "S" the way freetime did in v4, but dont change colors like they did and try to make it more subtle...thanks were close to the end"

Designers are not allowed to talk via pm until you have chosen a winner. Also, I'm not allowed to add elements from another designers design. Sorry. I can make a design with a subtle tooth, but not in the same way with the "S" as in freetimes design. Let me know if you would like to see anything else. :)

kekepania: thanks for all your ideas...v11 is still sitting the best with me...can you send me some ideas of your for a letterhead, envelope and business card...we have 4 doctors in our office and need to get them all on the letterhead...we all will have the same biz card (just each with our own name on it) The doctors name are as follows: Tom M. Gardenhire, DDS : Charles V. Ankar, DDS : J. David Lewis, DDS : Joseph D. Prince, DDS
I like the idea at the following link. The watermark is something I want to mimmick.

http://www.goziro.com/

Click on "Bell Canyon Dentistry" again. As for the watermark of our logo can we push it into the corner enough that we only see two sides of our square? Or tuck it into the corner of the page so there is no "white" around it.

I also like the biz card of the "Ronald and Dinning" logo. maybe we can do blue border at the top and bottom of the card. Thanks!

kekepania: awesome start! lets make the following edits:

1) At the end of the S in the logo can you create a subtle smile (eg. have the S end with a curve instead of ending straight out)

2) On the letterhead and biz card make the page/card white and the watermark blue (like the envelope)

3) On the letterhead make the backround of the doctor's names in white and the leave Doctor's names in dark blue

Thanks!

Hi,

Have you decided to select Kekepania as the designer for your project?

If so, I will move to Revisions. If not, I will leave in the Logos forum open to entries.
