(Admin code added by Palmer - 234672M)

Hi again folks,

I need some fast, quality header/banner work for a site that's under development.

This site will be used for a taxicab company, and the site's template design can be found here (http://www.media24.no/bt).

Images that can be used: Relevant images (http://www.media24.no/bt/photos/)

Basically, I need the following: A graphic header/banner to replace the currently black and grey area below the top header (which is red/grey/white). This is for the main index page - size 778x125 pixels.</li> 2 similar ones to be used for content pages; these should also contain graphics, but be somewhat leaner, maybe 50-75 pixels tall (same width).</li>Currently, this header area (on the main page) is built with the attatched graphic files:

header1 - the black area on the left
headerbg - the grey background image
header2 - grey image towards the right

The new header design does not have to maintain the same structure, as long as it covers the 778x125 area. This means that the diagonal line separating the black and grey can be changed/moved or whatever - as long as it looks good.

I would like a text area of roughly the same size as today's (the text area on the headerbg background). This will be used to place telephone numbers for a "taxi direct" service; headline text plus 2 columns of 4-5 lines each, for short text and telephone numbers. This could either work as a background color/pattern/image with HTML text (like today), or be included in the main graphic/image.

Example:
Western part of town - 555 2356
Eastern part of town - 555 2357
etc.

As for colors, anything that fits in with the rest of the design would be fine; it doesn't have to be black or gray. The menu on the left side will most likely also be included on content pages, so please take that into consideration for the smaller headers as well (ensuring the whole page will look good together).

Generally, I'm looking for clean, crisp and professional looking header design that may include patterns, coloring etc. of your choice. I would like you to use one or more of the graphics provided (from the Relevant images link) in each design - this is for a local Norwegian company, and yellowcab clipart etc. won't be appropriate here :) The logo image ("BTlogo500.gif") is only included for your reference; it will be placed onto the top header (red/white/grey).

For the index page header, I'd basically recommend incorporating one or more of these images, or part of image(s): Airport1 or airport2, Taxi387, taxisign, W-65(2),harbourstand and/or taxistand - maybe combined with an image from the scenic_town folder.

Feel free to cut, paste, and arrange as you please. Please let me know if you need higher res. versions, this should be no problem to produce if needed.

Also, please try to keep the file size reasonable, dial-up users should be able to view this site without too much load time...

If possible, it would be a plus if the .psd would be fairly easy to edit in terms of changing images.

Contest end: October 15

UPDATE - extended to October 16

Again, I'm open to any design suggestions, as long as the whole page looks good - please use your artistic abilities :)

I'm really looking forward to your designs!

Thanks,

Trond M. Markussen

Here's a little 'sumthin sumthin' I threw together.
Please let me know what you think, and if I'm on the right track.

Thanks :)

Thanks,

That looks very nice, elements, I like the way the Mercedes is lined up with the logo clearly visible on the door.

In the section to the right (airport picture), would it maybe be possible to keep it a bit less greyish; the transparent/semi-transparent text area could be a great idea, but I think perhaps the text area should be a tad more grey/bright than the rest. The text area also needs to be a bit larger (wider), and I don't really like the windows-type box... maybe a box with rounded edges and a different (non-windows) look? :)

Keep up the good work!

Hey TMM, thanks for the feedback.
Here are a few more variations.

I personally like #4 the best, a sleek brushed metal look.

Let me know what you think :)
Thanks.

Hi,

Here is my entry;

I tried to design a header which is similar to your template.I think they work fine together.
Best,

Thanks all,

elements: I think perhaps a text box like number 2 and 3, but with a semi-transparent content area closer to the transparency in your first design would be nice; so that the text is clearly visible, but a bit more of the background image shines through (if possible).

Could you maybe try this both with this background image and one of the airport images (it could look good with phone numbers listed as the cabs are lined up in the background). Good looking subpage header :)

kalvinhobs: I like the clean look, and the integration with the top header! Please note that the logo will be included in the top header (see attatchment), so it wouldn't need to be included here. Also, I need to list 8 to 10 phone numbers for the various parts of town, listed in 2 columns and with a headline "Taxi direkte" that stretches over both columns; but there should be plenty of space for that :)The image on the left looks good, but I think it could be interesting with a local image; or possibly a combination?

The new/updated top header will include the logo, please view the attatched image and take this into consideration.

Senthu and Luc, I'm looking forward to your participation, thanks for your interest!

Thanks everyone,

TMM

Thanks all - I'll be back within a couple of hours with more detailed comments. :)

If it's OK with everyone, I'd like to extend the contest until tomorrow - October 16th.

Thanks everyone, lots of nice looking designs here! :)

I unfortunately wasn't able to post any feedback yesterday, therefore I'd like to extend the contest by one day (new contest end date: October 16) so that you'll have time for final design versions.

elements: Looks very nice - could you try the #3 image with a white/grey box? Also, please try one or two different box/frame types, perhaps something with a hint of 3d, like the bottom edge of the top header? And finally, if you're able to add just a tiny hint more light to the door with the logo in it (to make it a tad more visible), that would be great.

Senthu: I really like the look of this! As you can see from the top header, the logo is already there so it doesn't need to be on this design. The grey striped area with slogan space is nice. Also, the orange/pink is a bit too bright in my opinion, it should probably be toned down in order to harmonize with the rest.

Could you maybe try lowering the Mercedes image, so that it shows from above the license plate and includes the roof lamp, while moving it further to the left to give room for a wider text area (should be about as wide as elements' text box)? As for the text bok, if you could try a different egde/border - maybe something with a touch of 3D, similar to the bottom edge on the top header?

jonmulk: The 3D text box is really cool! Could you perhaps make it a bit larger by making the top equally wide as the bottom part? Unfortunalely, the red/pink bar on the top doesn't really fit in to the general design, due to the top header. Maybe you could try removing that, and using a few (and smaller) images; like thumbnail images or parts of images? The Volvo looks like it's been de-roofed, maybe the Mercedes (or parts of it) would fit better? :)

kalvinhobs: Real nice & clean! Couple of small ajustments: could you make the black separation take up less space by narrowing the black part, allowing for a slightly wider text area? Also, please try a somewhat smaller sized "Taxi direkte", just so it doesn't overtake the logo. Please try a version with the "airport1" image too, while the colors in the image look good, it's perhaps a bit overwhelming compared to the logo?

Luc: Very nice looking graphic - I really like the dynamic feel of it! How about rearranging the images a bit, so the rooflamp part shows (makes it easier to see that these cars are taxis), also the text box needs to be a bit larger. If possible, could you try one or two different colors, maybe a bit less pink?

As far as the text area is concerned, my apologies for not being clear; what I really need is to list 8-10 numbers, each with a short text next to it (2 columns, 4-5 lines each):

Example:
Central town, upper town: 555 12345
West side, riverside etc. : 555 32165
and so on...

Thanks for your time and patience, looking forward to your updated/finalized versions!

Regards,

TMM

Hi, here's another variation.
I'll try to put together another one with a different style box, but if you see this one before the deadline, let me know if the 3d'ness is any better here :)

Thanks!

TMM

Looking real good!

elements: Awesome, just what I had in mind :) You might perhaps make the margins inside the box a bit smaller, and the box just a few pixels wider (if possible), in order to accomodate a few more letters description lenght.

jonmulk: Really nice! The cars lined up on top are great, maybe you could ease up on the red/pink a bit.

About 24 hours left, still looking forward to the other updated versions. Something tells me it won't be easy to pick a winner... :)

Thanks,

TMM

Alrighty, here ya go :)

Made the box a little bit wider, margins slightly smaller, and added some larger text strings so you can get a better idea of what it would look like.

Hope you like.

Hi folks,

First, I'd like to thank all f you for your time and efforts, there has been a lot of great looking designs to chose from. I really had a hard time picking a winner, but here goes:

Winner: elements :)

I'll contact you by PM for a couple of minor final tweaks and delivery details, as well as suggestions for the remaning leaner graphics; which should be fairly simple.

However, kalvinhobs, I must say I really liked your last submission - if you would consider selling it for an affordable price, I'm sure I could put it to use also. Please contact me... :)

Thanks to everyone,

TMM

Halelujah :)
Thanks TMM, it was a pleasure participating in your contest.
I can understand why it was so hard, the other entries by the team were all great. Good work guys.

I'll look forward to your PM so I can fix up what you'd like and finish up those 2 leaner headers.

Thanks again!
