What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Paderewski Festival Paso Robles

What type of product or service do you offer?
This is an annual music festival to celebrate the life and contributions of Ignacy Paderewski, a virtuoso pianist, composer, politician, humanitarian, and orator and was one of the most cherished figures of the 20 th century. He purchased land in Paso Robles, California and farmed there for over 25 years. He became a commercial grape grower and is often credited with introducing the zinfandel grape to our area. The festival was launched in 1993 and includes concerts, tours of vineyards, wine tasting and presentations of Polish culture and history to locals and visitors. The festival also includes a Youth Music Competition<
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

We want to have a “brand” logo that becomes recognizable and synonymous with elegance, culture, music.

The festival also has a Youth Music Competition for young pianists that we want to expand. We want a logo that reflects that classical music can be cool and hip
What are your long term goals
To create an endowment to support scholarships and international study for local music students; attract internationally renowned musicians to perform here in a variety of venues

When is the deadline for final entries? April 15th to share with our executive board of directors

What type of logo would you like?
We’re open to your creative ideas. We want a logo that is simple, elegant; not busy and not cartoonish
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, whyBlack, maroon (burgundy), and gold. Black as the best pianos are that color; maroon as most concert venues have that color in their drapes or upholstery to connote richness and elegance, gold to reflect top quality in performances

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
We’re open to lots of ideas here. Possibly a piano, rolling hills of Paso Robles, vineyards, Paderewski is often noted for his wild, unruly red hair, sort of like vintage Bob Dylan and was the rock star of his generation with groupies. Possibly hands on a keyboard? Perhaps a glass of red wine?

What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Passion, elegance, culture, refinement, top quality, international.
Where will your new logo be used?
Letterhead, business cards, signs, website. Each year, we feature a different vintage photograph of Paderewski so this logo would appear near or possibly overlaid on the photo

Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Mozart Festival in San Luis Obispo has a nice logo. Our current logo uses Paderewski’s signature but it is somewhat illegible. We like the logo for the Bach festival in. The logo for the American Music Festival is also nice.

List competitive URLs if possible

www.americanmusicfestival.org (http://www.americanmusicfestival.org/)
www.bachfestival.org

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Mozart never lived in San Luis Obispoand Bach never lived in. Paderewski spent a major part of his life in Paso Robles. Some of our old-time residents actually remember meeting Paderewski in Paso Robles. He is an important part of the heritage of our town.

Here's my design...

Bill, this is very well done from a graphics perspective but does not quite capture the man and his relationship to Paso Robles..

Perhaps a high res image or black on white with red wine in the glass... of him (or anyone) on a piano with a vineyard backdrop or a glass of wine on the piano. Thank you so much for your submission.

Bill,
This is very nice and thank you for this submission. I think we're looking for something not quite as "busy" with more simplified shapes.

This is not capturing the festival in the vibrant way that we want. Let's drop the image of Paderewski and the wine glass and focus more on the vibrant and romantic nature of the event. Can we do something artistic with the festival name (Paderewski Festival) and perhaps weave in a stylized version of a piano?

We need some more ideas.

Thank you all for your wonderful creative ideas! We have a board meeting next week and I'd like to present all the ideas at that time. If there are any other logo suggestions, send them now for consideration.

Deanna - could you somehow include the musical notation symbols in the color image and make it stand out a little more.

Offbeat design - could you make "Paso Robles" a little easier to read. The yellow/gold color makes it disappear.

Dewa Jawa - could you change the background red color so that it's deeper/richer/warmer color and more of a contrast to the black piano keys.

Thank you all so very much!

Bill,
Your style is very nice. Could you revise this logo and exclude the image of Paderewski (although you did a great job on this)? Also, deemphasize the glass of wine or come up with some other symbolic reference to wine and/or rolling hills of Paso. Thank you!

Offbeat designer:
Could you do a couple of versions with different color combinations in the background that you think would be particularly striking? We're not glued to having a wine color in the logo.

Thank you!

Sorry for the delay in continuing this thread. Our board has opted for (hopefully) a simpler logo that embraces/emphasizes Paderewski'signature. We need the text to read "Paderewski Festival" and "Paso Robles" - not necessarily adjacent but somewhere in the logo in any interesting and classy combination. Here's the signature logo that we used last year.

Thanks so much!

Excuse me, just want to ask...
Can I use that signature, but I'll modified that a little bit for add word Festival?
If not, I'll not do that...
Thank You. :)

Giant,
Yes, please use the exact signature in the logo image that I uploaded as it is Paderewski's very own. You can use any color combination and make the signature the darker color on a lighter background if it works better in your design. We just need to change the text to "Paderewski Festival" and also include the text "Paso Robles" somewhere in the new logo.
Thanks so much!

Offbeat design-
Thank you for you very nice submission. Can you change Music Festival to Paderewski festival in your version 2? Also put Paso Robles in white text on the lighter blue background as you did in version 3.

Are there any other ideas out there on this logo?

Our board has decided that we like your design (i.e. version 4) the best and want to move forward! We have specific ideas on the colors that we would like to use. How do we describe the color to you? Is there a standard color chart that you use that you could share with us so we can be sure that we are describing the color correctly?

For example, we'd like to see a version with the same blue in hills but would like to have a lilac (light blue/purple) sky? How can we choose that color precisely for you?

Thank you for your great work and patience with us.

Thanks so much. Go to this page:

http://www.pantone.com/pages/paint/paintselector.aspx

Then click on the Pantone Matching System tab and select a color you think works well (you will have to scroll down). Send me the color name and I can show you what it looks like in the design.

Jeff - have a little more patience. Our group is sidetracked on another important issue. We'll be back on this in a week.

Hi Jeff -
We're back onto this project. The committee would like to see 4 different color versions of this logo as listed below for the "dark" color. Could you choose colors that you think would go well with each of them for the horizon and background color for "Paso Robles"

Shadow purple 19-3217
Kombu green 19-0417
Tawny Port 19-1725
Chili Pepper 19-1557

Thanks so much!

Jeff,
Can you put the kambu green in the first version as the background color and find a "warmer" color for the sky. Also in the Tawny Port version, can you put this as the background color and lighten the orange?

Thanks so much

Jeff,
Thank you so much for your patience with us. We want to proceed with version 4.

I will add $75 to the design price. In addition to these logo files, we need a letterhead and envelope design to include our contact information:

PO Box 272, Paso Robles, CA 93447, 805.239.4437, www.paderewskifest.com

Can you provide a camera ready design for this for us?

Thank you so much.

Abby,
Please remove the add'l $68 from this project as we've decided not to use Offbeat Design for letterhead and envelope project.

I've received the final files from Jeff and this project should be closed.

Thanks again for such terrific service. I know I'll be using you folks again for my next project.
