I need a logo for our flyball team. I am offering $225. The Team name is Alamo Racing Canines out of San Antonio, TX. We are needing a logo that we can use on t-shirts, bags, banners, jackets, sweatshirts, polo shirts, caps, doggie bandanas, ect. Some of the t-shirts will have the logo printed on them while others will have the logo stitched on. I am looking at at the colors blue and black with a little yellow (for the tennis ball), but am open to suggestions/different color options.
Not sure what flyball is? It is a four dog relay team that requires the dogs to go down the flyball lane, jump over four hurdles, hit a spring loaded box that releases a tennis ball, bring the ball back to the owner while jumping back over the hurdles. The second dog is released when the first dog passes the start line. The same happens with the other two dogs. All this while competing against another team in the lane next to you less than 5 feet away.

Cafepress has some general flyball t-shirts that can also give you a feel for the sport http://www.cafepress.com/buy/flyball/-/source_searchBox/x_15/y_14
Flyball is fun and often referred to as drag racing for dogs. If you'd like for me to send you a copy of our current logo let me know...

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
--Alamo Racing Canines
What type of product or service do you offer?
--Just a good time competing with your best friend
How long have you been in business?
--Since 2000 (I believe)
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
--Excitement, easier recruitment, uniformity, a more competitive identity as well as curiosity. We want someone to look at the logo on our t-shirt that leads to the question, "Alamo Racing Canines, whats that?"
What are your long term goals?
--We want to carry this logo for as long as the team is around.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
--Friday, April 4th
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
There are two kinds of "audiences" in flyball
--Competitive dog loving humans with athletic dogs who have a need for speed.
--Dog loving humans who simply like to spend time with their dogs.
--Reguardless of which personality they are, fun and the dogs well being comes first.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
--A competitive audience. People who actually want to race and win.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
--One that portrays speed and embodies the sport.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
--Blue and black with some yellow. Yellow for the tennis ball. Blue and black because those are simple colors that can be found any where. But we are not limited to those colors. We simply want to be able to go buy t-shirts easily. So stay way from mustard, maroon, gold, burnt orange, etc.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
-- The Alamo
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
--The dog. You could incorporate the hurdle if you'd like or simply portray the speed of the sport.
What is your tagline or slogan?
--None... but if you could think of one that would be awesome.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
--The sport. Form the logo they should know that it is a sport that involves dogs.
Where will your new logo be used?
--Printed and/or embroidered on shirts, jackets, travel bags, caps, and stickers for the traveling trailer.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
--Competitors are everywhere. We like the logos that portray competition and speed. We particularly like flat out flyers, texas heat, texas twisters, and x-dogs logos.
List competitive URLs if possible

http://www.flyball.com/texasheat/
http://www.flyballdogs.com/texastwisters/
http://www.flyballdogs.com/xdogs/
What sets you apart from your competitors?
--As of right now nothing. We are able to compete with the top teams coming second in our division. We simply don't look like a top team.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
--Fun competition for dogs

HI!
I am really liking your designs but I am curious to see what would happen if we tweak it a little. Would you be able to place the A from the second version but keep the lettering from the first version. Also could you take the eye off the dog just to see what that looks like?

Keep the designs coming. They really are great! I need you all to help me do something.... When designing you will assume that there is either a black or blue background. I am not very creative and have trouble seeing things in my head. Does that make sense?

Would you be able to make the letter "o" of your design not in bold? Perhaps be the o could be the ball? Maybe?

Freetime,
Liking the new twist on your latest design (thread #18). We would like to see the same design but have the block lettering of version 14. Could you make the the A in the shape of the Alamo? Or how about the middle of the o? Make that the silhouette of the Alamo?

Here is the Alamo in the "o". v6
The "A" as the Alamo is djaka concept from his intial design proposal.

Attention all designers. I have upped the $$ to 300.00 and have extended the deadline to Wed. April 9th. One of the reasons for extending the deadline was to show the current logos to the team, take their feedback, pass it along to you and still be within the deadline to see their feedback come to life. The team will then vote on the logos and I should be able to tell you who is the "winner" by Tues April 15th.

Freetime,
We had a meeting and there is talk about your latest logo. All good feedback except :smirk: the dog. The dog looks like a pit-bull/boxer and even though all sorts of dogs run flyball most tend to think and be border collies. So they wanted the leaner body, longer nose, not so square head... things like that. So could you do a logo with a similar dog to one of the teams we race against and you'll see what we are talking about :cool2:.

Everyone I just wanted so say thanks for your time and creativity! The team was REALLY torn.
Some of the other teams that compete with their dogs have been asking me questions about this site. If anything arises later I will recommend each of you, FREETIME, RELEVANT STUDIO, and DJAKA.

Djanka,
Here are the notes I took during the final vote. This is the teams feedback on the changes we would/might like...
1. Thin out the tail of the dog so the A can be seen better
2. More spacing between the letters because the "o" in Alamo looks like an "a" or unfinished "p"
3. Try to fit the ball better in the dog's mouth.
4. Change the colors to the Lime Green, black and white. I will ask the designer to place the logo on a black back ground and on a white so we can see the finished product.

Djanka thank you for the changes. I have a couple of more for you... could we do a little more of a brighter lime green... not quite neon but a little brighter. :help: Also, we LOVE the way the logos looks on a black background but it seems that the green gets a little lost with the white background. Could you maybe outline the letters in black or shadow it? What do you think? You are the genius here not me... :smart:

Djanka,
Thank you for doing the changes. Could you do the following...
1. Change the color to more of a lime green. Sorry. We are looking for something almost neon green but not really. Does that make sense? :bash:
2. I really like the changes (the outlining of the design), but could we see what it would look like with the "A: inside of the Alamo look like if it was white instead of black on version 8A?
I hate be such a pain and your patience is appreciated.

Djanka,
We have made some decisions but the color still isn't quite right. It if would go to the following website and look at the color above the lime green label to see the color we are looking for... it would be greatly appreciated.
http://www.butterflyscrapbooking.com/Accent%20Paper.htm
We want the following designs:
Version 9 A with the white back ground
Version 7 with the black back ground (yes the simple one! Its perfect and my personal favorite!)
Question:
Would you be willing to sell us the logo in broken up sections for an additional fee? The dog, the Alamo, and racing canines so we can get creative with it on our website. Does that make sense?
djaka
05-07-2008, 07:57 PM
Thank you for the feedback,
I've look at the picture and color you refer to, and I have picked up the closest match in pantone color.
If you have pantone color guide please refer to that instead of the monitor (because computer monitor and print out can be differ).
For the broken up sections I would also submit that to you (free of charge) as long as for the brand purpose only.
thank you
kind regards
:)

Thank you for educating me on the pantone color scale stuff. I asked my tech support about that the heck pantone was and he explained it to me. I was not able to get my hands on a pantone but thats ok. I am sure that once we get to a t-shirt place the green will likely change a bit anyways (right?)
So on that note you are now done!!!!!!
The last version was ultimately what we were looking for. Thank you for working with me so well! You have been very accommodating to all issues that arose! :notworthy If you would fax my the copy right paperwork we should get this closed up.
