Looking for Logo and Font. If the font must be purchased, please make sure it’s a reasonably priced font.
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Rochelle Rose (must be there as the company name), we current go by Rochelle Rose Bath & Body, considering dropping or altering the “Bath & Body” to something more unique. We are open to suggestions, trying to redesign our image. Check out our current web site www.rochellerose.com
What type of product or service do you offer?
Handcrafted herbal soaps and bath products
How long have you been in business?
5 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Seeking a fresh, updated, innovative image for our products. We are looking to build a strong brand identity that helps attract target market.
What are your long term goals?
Grow business by building a strong brand identity. Establish a target market and procure wholesale accounts, thus increasing revenue & profits.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
2 weeks; Approximately Mid April
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Farmer’s market & natural food store customers. Primarily women age 20-50.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Upscale spas, boutiques & gift shops
Those concerned with the environment and what they put on their skin
Maybe going after the vegetarians & vegans market
Higher end food markets
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Upscale, spa-like, clean & fresh, artisan.
Some thing we can modify for label of each item we produce
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No, it depends on the design of the logo.
However we’ll need something that works well in color as well as just black & white.
Because I’d like to be able to use the logo and/or company name to stamp soaps, like this company does:
http://magichandsworkshop.com/store/customer/product.php?productid=16234&cat=248&page=1
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I’m using a Rose image today, but considering a change. Perhaps something using the initials RR from Rochelle Rose (maybe back to back). If a rose is involved, not too literal. I’m open to suggestions.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Artisan handmade, high quality, upscale, beautiful. Natural and good for you, but not “granola” looking.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Don’t have one yet
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Do you know what is in your soap? We know what’s in ours; only the best quality skin nurturing ingredients. Buy our soap, your skin will thank you for it.
Where will your new logo be used?
Product labels, website, business card, etc.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
List competitive URLs if possible
I’m not in love with any of my competitors logos. Many competitors have amateur sites. But I guess I need to give you something, so here’s something:
http://www.demarah.com/ clean & simple.
http://kikkosoapworks.com/Sugar-Cane-Scrubs_c.html Font and Imagery works well for her brand. I like the way the color of flower behind the name can be changed to suit the scent of the product. But still reads as a consistent logo across the product line.
http://flower-peddler.com/store/Grapefruit-Lily-soap-p-16270.html Nice, particularly like the way the flower stem becomes the “and” sign.
I’d like to balance elegance with a clean design. So I’m thinking about the company name in a script or signature-type font, that is still very legible.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Style, quality and unique scent combinations.
** Designers - for more information on the look we're going for please read post #24.
Project Update: This project is now validated.

tini1, thanks for your quick response. Overall it’s not striking me. Conceptually I’m OK with the idea of an abstracted rose with a spiral (it’s what I currently use), but something about the actual image seems awkward.
FYI, in both versions you spelled the company name wrong. In v1.1 you also spelled the word luxuries wrong.

Thank you everyone for your submissions, thus far, your efforts are appreciated. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Additional submissions are welcome.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Freetime - The font is nice. Don’t like the flower graphic. The RR isn’t interesting enough, and doesn’t work so well in black & white. The second R comes across more like a highlight or shadow of the first R. Try back-to-backing the Rs. Creating a V in between them. Perhaps this space in-between them could contain a small graphic.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Kekepania - Like the rose, but something about the 2 text lines doesn’t jive well. The Rochelle Rose font seems stretched too wide and Bath & Body takes the focus away from Rochelle Rose (might be because it’s all caps, bolder font, darker color, not sure.) Can we see Rochelle Rose with uppercase Rs. On the b/w please make the outline of the leaves a little heavier. Also, add a half vein-line in the leaf. (In the color version use the opposite green for the vein in each leaf; In the b/w white version, just a black line)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Tini1- We like the revised rose image better in V1.2 than V1 but we’re not in love. We like your LuLu logo. What about something along those lines?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Djaka – V1, The logo is not working for us. You chose to keep the back loop on the Rs and we’d rather keep the stems. Don’t like the bow like image it created. I know I supplied the font, but now partner say that they’re lot crazy about it. Interested in a font that is elegant, legible, and unique. Can we try this design concept with different font.
V2, can you add a second line such as Handcrafted Indulgences, Bath & Body, etc., and change the position of the bud so that it falls between the words Rochelle Rose (maybe coming off the Rochelle “e” or the & sign in B&B). Also, can you offer some font variations.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Pracus – This design is not doing it for us. Don’t like the rose and the 3 elements of this design don’t feel like they pull together cohesively.<o:p></o:p>

Thanks for the new entries guys.
freetime - Still don't like the flower image, nor the word Rose in red. Not sure, but its not exciting us. We like the combo of the company name in a script font with B&B in a modern font. Any other options for script/handwrting type font with a little more character?
Logoholik - This design isn't appealing to us.
Artemii - Points for creativity, but unfortunatly we don't dig it. Not fond of the rose. Like the look of the RR (sharing the front leg), but not how thefont looks once applied to the company name.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the submissions thus far. Unfortunately, I’m feeling like they aren’t really hitting the right notes. This is my first time doing this and I’m not sure what I need to do to help us get there. What sort of additional information do you need?
Here are some random thoughts regarding my style, maybe they will help:
I’m fond of swirls & embellishments especially those of the Art Nouveau Style.
I love wrought iron. (Before I was a soapmaker, I was a metalsmith)
Homes: Victorian homes are my favorite with all the gingerbread & the big traditional porch.
Decorating: I love Pottery Barn and Crate & Barrel, but can find them to be a little too cold/modern. I need to feminize it a little. I’m a character and I like to add a little, to everything I do.
Dress: I tend to combine laid back casual attire with extraordinary pieces. I live in jeans, but I combine them with a silk blouse, a velvet jacket, or great pieces of antique jewelry.
Jewelry: I prefer the white metals. Either sleek clean platinum pieces or (Edwardian/Victorian/Art Nouveau) vintage pieces. For silver, Brighton is my favorite (www.brighton.com). Their style is very me, except for the fact that I don’t like hearts. A few pieces that appeal to me:

http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=J80243
http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=J15880
Some Roses:

http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=E92912
http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=J36750
It would be neat if my company initials could result in something like this as the graphic:
http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=G80677
I like the central design, not the external heart shape of this one:
http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=J45930
Colors: I have always loved greens (like sage, hunter, teal). I’m fond of green combined with purple (plum, eggplant, even magenta). I tend to like reds too (not bright fire engine reds, but deep reds). I like lots of colors and will have to give this further thought. Suggestions welcome.
I’m not looking to duplicate this, but the submissions for this project are more in line with my tastes. http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16023
Additonaly, this was a recent Design Outpost logo project. I like the look of this and the way his name, in a unique font, combined with some decorative elements, comprises the logo. Eddy Pero Logo (post #20): http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15560&highlight=pero
I’d like my logo to express my personal sense of style. Pulling together fresh, clean, and classic with elegance and a touch of femininity. I currently have an OK logo, what I need is a new gorgeous, logo that reflects the artisan nature and quality of my products. I need it to be memorable, recognizable and help me build a brand.

Hey guys thanks for the new submissions! We’re excited to see that we’re movin’ in the right direction!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Tini1 – I’ll start with V5.0. LOVE the tag line! Spent the last few days brainstorming over what this should be. Came up with tons of variations using the 2 of the 3 words you chose, but never put the 3 together in that order. Its great, thank you!!! <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Neat graphic, we like where you’re going with it. It’s funky, modern, elegant & feminine (but not too much so). However, something seems a little off, and we can’t put our finger on it. It might be the thinness of the itty bitty swirl, or the thickness of the lower curve. Could you come up with a couple variations on this sort of design?<o:p></o:p>
In general, I prefer upper case R’s, but this does look nice. Can I see a version with uppercase R’s to compare? In other variations of the design, feel free to try some other fonts and colors.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V3.0 Graphic is nice, but I’m really interested in the font used for LuLu. The L’s are beautiful and I’d like to see how that font would apply to our company name.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Freetime – V5.0 Good attempt we like the combination of swirls & dots; however the flower you used is actually a tulip. We don’t necessarily need to have a flower in our logo, but if there is one, it should be a rose. The graphic is to light and airy in nature, the thin lines would not work well stamped in a bar of soap. Also, not crazy about the way the capital Rs look in this font, very top heavy, with little base. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Kekepania – V 2.0 We still like this. It’s funky and clean at the same time. It feels like a sleeker more modern version of the spiral rose logo we currently use, and it would make a nice stamp. Our concern with the graphic is that it might come across a little too cute & young. It still doesn’t feel like we’ve found the right font and we wonder if that might make the difference. Also, I think we prefer the tag line centered.<o:p></o:p>

Version 6 (B)<o:p></o:p>
Thanks for updating and thickening the lines, it looks better. Stylistically we’re moving in the right direction, but we’re not sure if this design is the ONE. <o:p></o:p>
1) Can we see this in reverse? (Remove the Square and color the graphic and text.)<o:p></o:p>
2) Not sure if we were clear last post, but would like to see some new options for the graphic logo in a similar style (the swirly part)?<o:p></o:p>
3) Color wise you can skip blues & grays (bluish-greens are still fine).<o:p></o:p>
Version 7<o:p></o:p>
1) Font looks nice! Actually, they both look nice and work well together!<o:p></o:p>
2) Can we see the graphic sized down a bit? Maybe 2/3rds the size it is now. <o:p></o:p>
3) By the way, is the graphic something in particular?<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>
V 8.0 - Thanks for removing the square and reversing the image. We're not too concerned about color at this point, but it looks like now that the image is reversed, we’ll need to use a darker color, to give it more contrast against a white background. Also, still waiting on some new design variations, when you have a chance.<o:p></o:p>

V 9.0 - Thanks for answering my question and adjusting the size. It looks better!<o:p></o:p>

<o:p></o:p>
V 1 - Neat concept! We like the way it flows in an elegant yet clean manner. It’s detailed without being overly fussy. A couple of things:<o:p></o:p>
1) We think that the line thickness may be an issue translated to a stamp. Can we see a version of the graphic with proportionally thickened lines? (We don’t want to loose the undulating character of the line quality, or design characteristic).<o:p></o:p>
2) Can we try a different font? One that is not so boxy & uniform? Perhaps a combo of uppercase/lowercase or the R’s larger than the other letters.<o:p></o:p>
3) Can you add a tag line so that we can see how that would look?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V 2 - We like the concept of this one too! A couple of things:<o:p></o:p>
1) In the graphic, the first R looks too much like a B and the second R looks too much like and e. Can you provide a few variations? It would be neat to see one option using 2 capital Rs.<o:p></o:p>
2) The colors are too masculine and dark for bath company. Can we see some options using other colors? We like the purple, but the black and purple are too close in tone.<o:p></o:p>
3) Can we try a different font? One that is not so boxy & uniform? Perhaps a combo of uppercase/lowercase or the R’s larger than the other letters (like this: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104284&stc=1&d=1207227195 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104284&stc=1&d=1207227195)).<o:p></o:p>

Thanks for jumping back in. :) We were afraid we lost ya! <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
We still like this concept (both the single & 2-color spiral). It’s funky and clean at the same time. It feels like a sleeker more modern version of the spiral rose logo we currently use, and it would make a nice stamp. But we are concerned that the logo might come across a little too cute & young. Our age demographic is mid-20s to mid-50s. Is there something that can be done to give it a little maturity?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
It still doesn’t feel like we’ve found the right font; that might make the difference. <o:p></o:p>
a) Had character & it’s interesting, but its not IT.<o:p></o:p>
b) Seems too blocky and uniform. It lacks character.<o:p></o:p>
c) Too uniformly light and airy to hold its own with the graphic<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I looked for fonts to see if I could help. Don’t know that I can, but here are some suggestions, if you know of something better that’s cool. How about trying:<o:p></o:p>
- Sexsmith or Euphorigenic<o:p></o:p>
- Fontleroy Brown<o:p></o:p>
- Black Chanceery<o:p></o:p>
- Adorable<o:p></o:p>
- A font that is sweeping and elegant in nature like Tini1’s font in V.9?<o:p></o:p>
Also, please change the tag line to “Handcrafted Indulgences” and make it a darker color, the light pink is hard to see.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Can you offer any other concepts for our logo?<o:p></o:p>
RochelleRose
04-11-2008, 04:18 PM
Giant,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V 3 - Thanks for making the adjustments. We like the font better with the larger R’s. About the graphic, it doesn’t appear to be a proportional upgrade to the line thickness. The thin parts look right, but it seems like we lost some degree of graduation between the thin to thicker lines. That’s something we really liked about the original graphic. Colorwise, we’re not loving the light green for the graphic it makes it look Celtic. Can you try a deep magenta-purple color for it and the tag line? In the next draft please replace “Bath & Body” with “Handcrafted Indulgences”. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
We like the graphic, but could we see a few others in the same style? We are still looking for one to really blow us away. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V 4 - Thanks for revising the logo. The graphic is now recognizable as Rr. Colorwise, we like the dark green. Could you switch it to the bottom section and try a deep rose color in the top section? Adjust the text accordingly and switch the tag line to Handcrafted Indulgences. <o:p></o:p>
Also, can we also see the graphic like this: http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=101782&stc=1&d=1203754440 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=101782&stc=1&d=1203754440) <o:p></o:p>

Thanks for joining the project! But the logo is not really exciting us. Not sure what kind of flowers those are, but they don’t appear to be roses. It’s not essential that we have a rose within our logo, but if we use flowers, they should be roses. Also, not crazy about the way the company name is pale, but the graphic is bold.<o:p></o:p>

Kekepania<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
V4 & V5 - It appears that we are having a tough time finding the right font for this graphic. We don’t like A because it’s seems too tall and skinny. B is too delicate to hold its own with the bold graphic. C is OK, but not fabulous. In all versions the tag line is too small and too light in color to be legible.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V6 – Thanks for posting a new concept! The rose is pretty and elegant. Could we see about attempting to integrate the rose and the text a bit more? (Such as using the stem to underline the company name, or to create an open-topped oval encompassing the text).<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
V7 – At first we didn’t understand this graphic. We thought it was the reflection of buildings on water. Then after a while, we got it. So, conceptually it’s too obscure, We don’t get that long to make an impression on potential customers.<o:p></o:p>

Giant,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
V5 - Maybe our last post wasn’t clear; we wanted to see a graduated increased thickness to the line quality of the graphic. Is that possible? This one seems like you went back to the original. Also, can we keep the Rochelle Rose dark green like in V3 and the have the tag line match the purple of the graphic?
We like this graphic, but could we see others in a similar style? We are still looking for one to really blow us away.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
V6 - The capital R is beautiful. Would it be possible to see what this graphic would look like using 2 capital Rs in the rectangle, back to back? Can you try a dark chocolate brown for the bottom section and Rochelle Rose text along with a sage green for the top sections and tag line?<o:p></o:p>
RochelleRose

Titania<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
V2 – Sorry, but this isn’t appealing to us. Specifically, the hollow RR graphic looks like a bow and the text for the company name is too sterile and blocky. Overall, it’s just not the look we’re going for.<o:p></o:p>
RochelleRose

Deanna,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
V2 - The font looks nice, as does the tag line. We like the way the design elements work together, but we’re not fond of the rose. Also, the largest swirl interacts oddly with the R. <o:p></o:p>

Thanks for joining the project! V1 is a neat concept. The sweeping leg of the R cool, but the roses are not working for us. They look too much like balloons or even snails. <o:p></o:p>

Thanks for the revision. It’s neat and it’s getting there, but something struck us as awkward. We think the top right swirl curling back makes it too reminiscent of a snail. So we played around with it and came up with the following ideas:

Giant,
V 8:
1) Could you please update the tagline to “Handcrafted Indulgences”
2) You were right about the colors for this. Thanks for indulging our request for the purple/green combo. But we prefer the deep red and black you proposed initially in V 1; it’s more sophisticated.
V 9:
1) The green is too light for the white lines to contrast against it. Can you deepen the color? Keep it sage, but deeper.
2) The Tag Line is hard to read. Something needs to be done so it shows up better. It needs to be darker; maybe larger or bolder too in order to make it look more like the tag line in V 6.
3) We’d like see a version that has the two capital R’s back to back. Try Black on the bottom with an earthy muted rose on top (mid-deep rather than bright).
4) We’d like to see a version that has just one capital R in a square. (Any color combo you want, since we still haven’t figured that part out yet).
RochelleRose
04-22-2008, 07:18 PM
Kekepania,
V 4:
1) Prefer the negative white space in the spiral of the rose rather than the light pink. (see V1)
2) Make the rose a little bigger (like 20%).
3) Apply same color as company name to the tag line.
4) Increase the tag line size a bit.
5) Font is better than before, but still not sure about it. Font seems wide.
V 8 & 9:
Thanks for providing some additional variations on your design. Unfortunately they still aren’t doing it for us. The rose bud is cool, but the composition and overall feel aren’t captivating us.
V 10
Thanks for introducing a new concept! It’s interesting and we think it has potential, but something about the graphic seems clunky. Not sure why; perhaps the line quality is too uniform; the line has no varying degrees of thickness. Not crazy about the font. We would prefer something more unique and/or elegant.

Are you still with us? Incase you missed it, we posted the following message a week ago . . . . .
V 11:
1) On the rose graphic, the end of the swirl is too straight up and down, can you make it wrap in more?
2) Also the curl and leaf on right side are touching, need some space.
3) Increase the tag line size a bit.

<o:p></o:p>
V 12 is very nice. Could we see the R a bit larger within the square?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks for making the adjustments to V 11. The colors look better now and allow for more definition of the white line. We may not have been clear about the black & rose version we requested. We were hoping to see a version of this graphic with the position of the Rs reversed (The first R facing backwards and the second one facing forward, if that makes sense). Now that we’ve seen V 12, we’re liking the square, so can you make V 11 a little less elongated and a bit more square?<o:p></o:p>

Kekepania,
V 11:
Thanks for making the revisions.
1. Do you think that the spiral rose with the negative space would work with the detached leaves from V5? Or just with the original leaves?
2. We like fonts A & D the best.
3. The tag line shows up better in the darker pink but it still seems too small
V 12:
This is moving in the right direction. Much better, but the lines still seem a little clunky. We’d like them to be more elegant and flowing, with some more graduation. Also could you add some weight to the center section of the lower right? It seems a little too small and the line too uniform.
Can we see the next revision with both the current font, and with option D from the fonts you used in your previous post of V 11?
The tag line for this design also needs to be a little bit bigger.

Hi there, nice to see you. Congrats on your new status! Thanks for joining the project. :)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
These are unique concepts, but unfortunate they won’t work well for what we need. A couple of the things to keep in mind:<o:p></o:p>
1) The logo will be used on soap & other bath products, so the packages are small. On a soap bar label, the logo would be around 1”H x 1.5”W max. On a perfume vile, it would be even smaller. The design needs to be able to work small scale, so it can’t be too ornate. Likewise, while we’d like a font that’s stylish, it also has to remain legible when small.<o:p></o:p>
2) We need the logo to contain a graphic that is strong enough to speak for itself. One that will help us build our brand.<o:p></o:p>
3) We would like to stamp each soap with our graphic (about a 1 inch stamp). So something like V 1 wouldn’t work for that, the graphic itself needs to be able to stand alone. The lines comprising the graphic also can’t be super airy in nature, they need to have a little weight to them.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
You seem to really have an eye for unique and attractive fonts, and we’ve been struggling with that. From the beginning wanted a signature type font, but we haven’t seen much along those lines. A script that is elegant, legible, and not overly fussy could work too.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I took a look at some of you work, and it’s nice! In particular these stood out:<o:p></o:p>
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104549&stc=1&d=1207628335 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104549&stc=1&d=1207628335)<o:p></o:p>
http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104799&stc=1&d=1207925256 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=104799&stc=1&d=1207925256) <o:p></o:p>
This is an attractive font (but we would want a graphic to go with it, rather than a design behind it): http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=106031&stc=1&d=1209751269 (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=106031&stc=1&d=1209751269)<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
It would be neat to see if my company name or initials could result in something like this as the graphic:
http://www.brightonretail.com/store/...etail&p=G80677 (http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=G80677)<o:p></o:p>
Not sure that it can be done, but if it can it seems like it would be up your ally. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
If you feel like taking a stab at the rose thing, that’s cool too. Because initially we weren’t sure if we were gonna stick with a rose graphic (we currently have one), but so far we like a few of the rose based concepts offered. The key it that it needs to be a unique, stylized rose, not to literal.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks again for joining the project. If you have any other thoughts we’d love to see them.

We’re narrowing things down, and this design is one of logos being considered. My partner is very fond of it. I like it, but I’m not sold because something seems off and it’s been bugging me. I’ve stared at it a lot over the last week to try to figure out what seems off. I think it may be that the design is more horizontal than I’d like. I measured the graphic and it has 1:2 ratio of height to width. A little horizontal would be OK, but I’d rather the graphic not be twice as wide as it is high. Since our soaps stand vertically it isn’t the optimal shape to stamp. Can you think of some variations of this design that would be less horizontal? I tried sketching for an hour last night, but I couldn’t nail it; I’m stumped. I defer to your creative genius. :) Can you make this less horizontal, or suggest another variation that still captures the same essence of this graphic?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Also, we’d like to see other options for fonts with this graphic since we’re not crazy about the one being used for the company name.<o:p></o:p>

RochelleRose
05-06-2008, 06:17 PM
Tini1,
We had hoped the variation would have been altered more significantly to address the issue. The line you added above the rose is a nice addition stylistically, but doesn’t do much to address the issue of the graphic being so horizontal in nature. With it, the ratio of the height to width is still approximately 1:2.
The swirl and the leaf on the left are bigger and higher that the swirl and leaf on the right side of the graphic. We’d like the ones on the left to be smaller and more symmetrical. Please adjust it to look like the picture below.
The new font is too thin and light in relation to the graphic. It needs to be bolder and probably a bit larger too. In your pervious version V12, the company name extended out past the graphic on either side.
We reduced the size of the graphic down to ½” H x 1”W to see how it would look on our soap labels. When we did this the tag line was hardly visible. This was not the case with your previous version V 12. Please adjust this.

Designers,
Just checking in to let you know that we haven’t forgotten about you or the project. My partner and I have been carefully considering our options. You guys have provided us with some great concepts and it made our work of deciding on a logo challenging. After reviewing all the concepts it came down to two, (Tini1’s V15 & Kekepania’s V14), and we were really torn. After much deliberation we are pleased to announce that we have decided to go with Tini1’s design V15.

While we love the graphic and tag line, we are still not in love with the font. We understand why you used the font you did, it’s clean and it lets the graphic shine, but it’s too modern and cold, for our tastes. It feels too corporate. Also, we’d prefer not to use all caps for the company name. So we’ve been spending the last week diligently reviewing hundreds of fonts in an effort to find “the one”. One that still lets the graphic shine, but goes better, in a less austere, corporate way. We’re a small company selling artisan made soaps and we want our entire logo, not just our graphic to convey that our product is upscale but not mass produced. So the challenge has been finding a clean, elegant font that is a little unique but does not compete with the graphic. We’re very close, and should know shortly. Once we’ve got it, how do we proceed with revisions? Off the top of my head, I know that we’ll need a few things:
1) The font change<o:p></o:p>
2) The period removed from the tag line<o:p></o:p>
3) Another layout with the graphic next to the company name & tag line<o:p></o:p>

Hi Tini1,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks for the font suggestion you posted. It is nice and we appreciate your effort. But after reviewing loads of fonts, we had it narrowed down to 3 and finally decided on a font called Odette for the company name. You can see it here: http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/canadatype/odette/ (http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/canadatype/odette/) <o:p></o:p>

We’ve been using it with CopprplGoth BT for the tag line and like the way it looks together. The company name should be the same color as the graphic, but there wasn’t an easy way to do that in the following soap label mock-up: <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 192.75pt; HEIGHT: 2in" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:title="Odette_sm_Tini1" src="file:///C:\Users\lxbran\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtml1\01\cli p_image001.jpg"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
So how do we proceed with this?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Also, when using the logo on a product label we still need a font for the variety name (ex. pink grapefruit). We weren’t sure what to use so that it wouldn’t get too busy, so in the mock up we used the same font as the tag line. Is that a good idea, or should we be using a third font, so that it doesn’t take away from the tag line? Any suggestions?<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
As I mentioned before, we also need another layout with the graphic next to the company name & tag line to be used for things such as banner, letter head, etc. Like this:<o:p></o:p>
<v:shape id=_x0000_i1026 style="WIDTH: 324pt; HEIGHT: 90pt" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:title="Odette_Banner" src="file:///C:\Users\lxbran\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtml1\01\cli p_image003.jpg"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o:p></o:p>

The logo looks great!
On the banner, could we try raising the text a little? The company name more centered between the large curl and the leaf. The tag line just up a smidge (base of text lined up with bottom of the little curl). As is, it looks nice, but I'm concerned that when placed on a rectangular banner and the graphic is centered vertically, there will be so much more white space above than below the text. Thinking bumping up a tad might help.

Nope, now it's too high. Um, lets see if I can explain better. In Vfinal3 (banner layout) the base of the company name lines up with the base of the larger curl. On Vfinal4 the top of the company name lines up with the top of the leaf. I'd like to split the difference and see what it looks like centered between the base of the curl and top of the leaf. Then I'd like to see the base of the tag line even with the bottom of the little curl.

Tini,
On the banner, the tag line is perfect. The company name needs to move up just a little bit, like this:
