Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Right now we are unsure whether to go with our full business name which is pretty long but what we have been using:
Creations Scrapbooks * Photography
I do also have a copywrite on "creationsphoto" which is also our web address. We would like to see some ideas using either and choose from there.

What type of product or service do you offer?

wedding photography

How long have you been in business?

5 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

We are upscaling our business and want a new logo to assist us with this process. We haven't had a consistent look to our company yet and want to do that at this point.

What are your long term goals?

Run a company that makes good money but allows us freedom to live a good life :)My husband wants us to be one of the top wedding photographers in the world...

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

We would like to decide pretty quick and not draw the process out forever - so April 15/08

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience

Female generally (with a few males) ages 21-40 engaged to be married.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

We have recently been adding a bit more of a family audience to our clientelle as our portrait business grows but it hasn't been our focus.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

We would like a design that we can use as a stand alone symbol, with our company name and/or our web address.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

Black, white and grey. These are the colors we have used on our website and blog. We feel it represents a modern, upscale look. See http://www.creationsphoto.com

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

We would like to show our personality.

What is your tagline or slogan?

Capturing relaxed, natural emotions.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

We love what we do. We love working with people that are relaxed and natural and don't mind getting romantic in front of us. We deliver a high quality service in a relaxed and friendly manner.

Where will your new logo be used?

On our web site, blog, business cards, sticky notes, cards, back of books we design

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

we are in our own little world :D we only have friends not competitors...

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?

our personalities, how we relate with our clients, how comfortable they feel with us...

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

relaxed, natural emotions

A few notes:
The flash site that I have running I chose to appeal to the brides that we work with - I am not a big fan of flowery things - this site just worked for me cause it was all quite muted.

NHR, Thanks so much for being the first to post. I'm excited to see what kind of ideas you guys might have.
I find the script hard to read and don't really love the multiple squares idea sorry.
I appreciate the effort though.

We are looking for something that we would have the possibility to embroider as well. We found that the whole company name that we currently use is too much and ends up being unreadable and/or ripping up the fabric. Hence the need for a logo that we can use on it's own - with the web name and with the company name.

So probably simple - elegant - feminine is the way to go for us.

Awhile ago I had a local designer come up with some ideas for me. I have attached them below. I liked the concept but we didn't think it was refined enough. Option 4 was my favorite of the bunch. Some people I showed it to said it looked like clip art and I agree that it is very hard to read the creationsphoto name.
We don't want to stunt any creativity from you guys - I just wanted to show a design that peaked my interest before.
By the way - I love hearts just not overdone....
Thanks!!

I had just cut and paste - I'm not sure how else to post it in here.

Any other ideas for the logo - anyone?

Thanks.

Thanks again NHR - looks like your the only one out there with some ideas for me.

I think version 3 is interesting. I would like to see the C and P symbol played up more into a heart shape. I am really interested in staying with the black, white and grey colors as well. Vesion 4 reminds me of a water company symbol - not wedding photography, sorry.

Thank you for the ideas so far.

Lutfi,
Thanks for joining in. We like the idea of the first design but don't find the font appealing and wonder if you can play with the "heart" a bit so that it doesn't look quite so "deformed" We like the switch off on the grey and black with the design. The 2nd design isn't as interesting to us.
Thank you.

Hello,

My Version # 1 to 5 are removed. Due to close 'heart' concept with NHR.

Mark is a "C" and a "P". Works well as a watermark as well.

Wow, I was excited to see so many new designs when I popped in here today! Thank you to all, I appreciate the efforts put forth.

So far I really like NHR's design 3.1 but I'm just wondering if there is a way to tie the heart in more to the name - just not sure if I like the floating that it is doing... I don't know if it would look good in front or at the back ...

Lutfi thanks for trying again. I'm not really happy with the monogram idea used here though. I guess it just isn't girly enough for me

Giant - thanks for the input. I was interested in this idea although it almost looks like a flower stem to me. The swirl above the "i" doesn't appeal to me. As well I was trying to stay with black and grey (with the option to turn the grey to silver in print)

Off Beat - thanks for joining in. The designs seem to overwhelm or outsize the name IMHO here. I like the idea used for the CP together. Not sure what could be done to make it blend together more.

Titania - thanks for your idea as well. The stylized c and p just make the word look too busy for me - sorry.

Thanks all! I look forward to seeing a few revisions and hopefully I can make a final decision then.

Taldo - your design has us interested in seeing a different font with the same idea of the cut out heart. I just don't like the blockiness of the font right now.

OffBeat, we like the circle at the front but think the c and p are a bit too curly - would a script or some other non-blocky font work better?

After some brainstorming I would like to put forward my concept of “The Beautiful Swan”.

Often at weddings the bride will remind me of a swan with all their puffy feathers (The dress) and soft lines (exposed necks).

Thanks

Thank you to everyone for your ideas and designs. We appreciate all the efforts.
We have made a decision to use the cp heart design from NHR with a little bit of revision on the placement...we would like to see it put in front in a grey circle.

Hi NHR, sorry about the delay getting back to you - I was out of town. I like version 3.6 #4 the best. Would it be possible to get the design as shown, just the heart and circle and the name of the font used as well?

Thanks!
