Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
ElementsBathandBody.com

What type of product or service do you offer?
Supplies, packaging, & ingredients for people who make their own bath & body products, as well as candles.

How long have you been in business? 5 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Create a more professional image. Want potential customers to quickly & easily identify that we offer a wide variety of supplies and packaging for making soap & bath/body products and candles.

What are your long term goals?
As we add more inventory, hopefully, the logo will be able to encompass those new items (fragrance oils, flavor oils, butters & oils like cocoa butter/grapeseed oil)

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Ideally, by April 15

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience:
Primarily, home crafters who make their own bath & body products (soapers, hobbyists, toiletry makers, candle makers). Our goal is to continue growing in the current direction & also attract larger customers with a more professional image.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Manufacturers of bath & body products that are generating larger volumes than home crafters.
We also sell bulk waterproof labels & we have a widespread customer base for these w/a variety of uses other than just bath & body products (bumper stickers, decals for cars/boats/motorcycles, candy wrappers, sippy cups).

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Open to suggestions, but am thinking of something that is square or round that is segmented into 3 or 4 parts, with each segment representing a different aspect of our business.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Colors of current logo are fine b/c they match site colors:
www.elementsbathandbody.com (http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/)

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
If segmenting the logo, I'd want a grouping of
1) bottles, jars, & tubes (bottle with a lotion pump & jar w/lid + lip tube)
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/8-oz-Clear-Bullet-pr-517.html

http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Jars-c-123.html

http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Lip-Tubes-c-146.html

http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/5-ml-Treatment-Pump-Set-pr-630.html

2) Candles: the jury is still out on this & you may need to pull from 1) bottles, jars & tubes in order to accomplish a finished look that isn't too cluttered.

3) "ingredients & herbs"capturing this might be tricky. For the herbs, just a drawing of a either a lavender stalk or some "popular" symbol for lavender. For the ingredients, maybe a beaker with a pipette?
4) bags & boxes
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Muslin-Drawstring-c-143.html
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Tin-Ties-c-144.html
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Soap-Boxes-c-168.html

I realize there's a limited amt of space to work, but I've included above links for easier reference. Hopefully, you find them useful

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Variety. Distrbutor of supplies & packaging for the cosmetic, soap making, bath & body industry. Our current logo is not relevant to containers & raw materials. We are looking for a logo that has a clean, crisp look, without being clinical (hopefully, that makes sense). Would like to see summation of "supplies, packaging & ingredients"

What is your tagline or slogan?
Wholesale soap making & toiletry supplies

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
A variety of supplies, packaging & ingredients for home crafters, as well as large companies.

Where will your new logo be used?
website, biz cards, stationary

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
www.fromnaturewithlove.com (http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/)
www.candlesupply.com (http://www.candlesupply.com/)
www.soapies-supplies.com (http://www.soapies-supplies.com/)
http://www.rusticescentuals.com/
http://www.brambleberry.com/
http://www.soapcrafters.com/

Most don't have a logo, but those that do aren't relevant to what our companies offer.

List competitive URLs if possible
see above answer

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Variety, wholesale prices, fast shipping, outstanding customer service

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
slogan: Wholesale soap making & toiletry supplies

Did you want actual bottles, tubes designed into the logo?
Thanks:)

I'm guessing you would need to do drawings of bottles & tubes vs. pics of real bottles & tubes, correct? I don't know how this works exactly, but drawings would be fine. For example, bottle with a lotion pump & jar w/lid + lip tube:

I'm interested in entering... are you interested in other concepts besides the bottle illustrations? I think it might be too busy, and not really look like a logo.

Thank you for the design, Kekepania. Unfortunately, this didn't strike me. It's a beautiful design, but I don't see the relevancy of it within our business. It doesn't "say" bath & body packaging. Are you able to change the drawing so that the circle is outside of the biz name & each of the "petals" are pics of bottles, jars, tubes, etc?

ElementsBB
04-18-2008, 11:19 AM
Thank you for Design #2, Kekepania. I didn't realize both were from you... sorry! I like this concept, but I'm still leaning toward having a collage of bottles, jars & tubes b/c those are relevant to my biz. If you're able to change the circles to containers, that would be great.

<o:p></o:p>
Thank you. This is definitely "closer" to my concept, but still not quite hitting the nail on the head for me. I'd really love it if we could incorporate herbs/ingredients, jars & bags & possibly candles as well. I was thinking of a drawing that is square & segmented into 4 parts, with each segment containing a couple different items & representing a different aspect of our business.<o:p></o:p>
As you mentioned, it might make it too busy, but if you’re able to do a mock-up of this, I’d love to see it. Unfortunately, bottles & tubes alone do not quite capture what we do & it's important when we're marketing that customers know we offer more than just bottles. Please see original project summary answers or email w/any questions.
<o:p></o:p>
Also, the name doesn't have an "&" sign... it's ElementsBathandBody.com. :)<o:p></o:p>

Plum74, thanks for your concept. Version 1 is really close to the concept in my head, but still not exact. In the segment @ top right, is it possible to squeeze in the lotion bottle from the bottom right quadrant? Or, a spray bottle (as seen on far right here http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/2-oz-Clear-Bullet-pr-239.html). One of the tubes should be removed to squeeze this in, of course.

In Version 2, I really like the hand w/petals in the bottom left in quadrant, but can we make those a bit more "leaf-like" like? Please see the one on the top & 5th one over called "new leaf design"
http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4TSHB_enUS251US252&q=leaf+pictures&um=1.
Or, a pic w/a lavender stalk in the hand to be more representative of herbs?

Thank you, Kekepania! This is much closer to the concept in my mind.
1) Is it possible to replace the candle in the front with a jar instead?
2) Can you make change the look of the leaves? Please see the one on the top & 5th one over called "new leaf design"
http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4TSHB_enUS251US252&q=leaf+pictures&um=1
Or, a lavender stalk in a hand to be more representative of herbs?
3) Instead of the bars of soap, I'd like to see your version representing bags & boxes:
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Bags-Boxes-c-115.html
http://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Soap-Boxes-c-168.html
I don't know if this would relate well, but I'd appreciate being able to see it.

Kekepania, I just wanted to shout out a very special THANK YOU for all the wonderful options. You've really captured what was in mind, but now, I have to decide what I like & move forward from there. I'm leaning toward versions 3.1 & 4, but am not sure whether I want to go round or square... decisions, decisions! I'll want some tweaks on the pics, but nothing major. I will post again over the weekend & we should be able to wrap this up within the next few days... I'm so excited! Thank you :)

glyphica

Just to clarify... you're deciding between my version#4 and plum's version 3.1. I didn't design both of them...

ElementsBB
05-15-2008, 05:34 PM
Wow, truly can't believe I let this go so long & I sincerely apologize.

Okay... here goes.

Kekepania, I'm definitely loving your designs, but wanted to know if you can make the total layout of Design #3 circular instead of square (like Plum74's 3.1). If this is going to "squish" it down too much, we may need to try something else, but the concensus seems to be to go w/a circle. If possible, would love to see the total design w/below changes in both round & square... I know, I ask a lot!

As far as the pics, I'll just go in order of what I like/don't like:

Top left... can you add a hand & change the "style" of the herbs to something like Plum74's?

Top right... Perfect & wouldn't change a think except maybe color scheme (to be determined later)

Bottom left... Perfect

Bottom right... hmm, having a difficult time w/this one. I want the soap like what you did in Version #3, but love what you've done w/the bags & boxes. We sell supplies & packaging for soap/toiletry & candle makers, so I'm honestly having a difficult time narrowing this down to just 4 pics! I think the soap may have a "cleaner" look & be easier to distinguish, but not sure if everyone would recognize that those are bars of soap? If you can make the other adjustments, I'll have to ponder this one.

Please change the web name from all caps to:
Elements
BathandBody.com

Thank you!

Is it possible to show me these designs in square, also?

Yay! I can't resist #7 (bottom logo w/bars of soap).
Change requests please: Move the soap to the top left corner & move the leaves to the bottom right corner.
I realized that the colors are throwing me off a bit b/c there are 3 blues & 1 green. Can we change the bottom left green to 99CC66 or something that is slightly different than the green in the top right corner. I like how the blues are just slightly different & want something similar to offset the green.

glyphica
05-21-2008, 03:23 AM
sure :)

ElementsBB
05-21-2008, 11:54 AM
Thanks, Stephanie! I prefer the color of web name as you have it in Version 7 (w/Elements in lighter color & bathandbody.com in darker color).
Now, I've just got to decide about the colors b/c the something about the new green doesn't look right. I am truly sorry to be such a huge pain, but have had a logo that didn't "fit" my biz for 6 years & just want to get this perfect.

glyphica
05-21-2008, 12:44 PM
I tried several different greens and it just doesn't look right. How about introducing another color into the mix :)

LOVE it w/the lavender in Version 9 (bottom logo).

Let's use the colors of the web name in green & blue (also version 9, but top logo) & we're done!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Did you soften the colors a bit? I love it! We're good to go... how do we wrap this up so I can get this on disc or a file for my web people? I'll also need to be able to put this on biz cards... can you help w/that?

glyphica
05-21-2008, 07:00 PM
I actually didn't change the colors at all, maybe since it's not next to the version with the pink it changes the way it looks?? I dunno, but glad you like it! :) I will get your files ready to go and send them to you tomorrow. Yes, I can help you with business card design. :)

Stephanie, please don't kill me, but it hit me last night that maybe I should be going w/more natural colors... warm & autumn? I LOVE the colors of the logo, but have been thinking for a while about getting away from the blues b/c they might not be so easy on the eyes. One of my competitors http://www.fromnaturewithlove.com/ uses lots of neutral browns & sage greens. With everyone thinking more "earth friendly & green", I probably should've been gearing that direction. I know we had this all wrapped up, so let me know what you would charge to make this change. Thanks!
