We are looking for a new logo for our political discussion and action-based social network, Politicopia.com
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Just the word Politicopia.
What type of product or service do you offer?
We are a social network that connects average people together to discuss political issues, come to a consensus, then organize to do something about it.
How long have you been in business?
2 years.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Attract more users with an easier-to-use UI. That includes a more memorable logo. Up to now, all our logos have been afterthoughts.
Our previous two logos:
http://utahpolicy.com/ -- see the banner on the left side of the page

What are your long term goals?
These sites will be rolled-out in every state over the next year as a public service.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 23rd
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Currently, the site has attracted issue activists who rallied around the Utah legislative session this year.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
We want this to be a really accessible site, so that anyone can get involved in politics, even if its just by garnering information. So, we would like to expand beyond the politicos.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We need your help. Previously, the logo has been little more than the name of the website. The very first logo included a graphic with a photo of grassroots (to symbolize the grassroots movement). We're not against that, but the first iteration was not super-successful.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
The new site design uses light grey, light green, a gold-like orange, and silver blue. We are trying to be a-partisan (meaning, we don't want to use colors that could be identified with a particular U.S. party -- such as red, blue, or green).
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Our creative juices seem to have run out. As I mentioned earlier, we have used the grass roots idea in the past. If it were done well, it could be good. But we are open to anything.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
It should illustrate the power of many coming together to converse and create change.
What is your tagline or slogan?
It used to be, "Politicopia.com -- Get on and drive politics." We don't have an explicit tagline anymore, but that is a pretty good summary.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
When average people come together and discuss what matters to them, and then take action, their influence is powerful.
Where will your new logo be used?
Mostly on the website itself. We will probably also need a black-and-white version for printing.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Since this is a public service, there isn't a ton of competition out there. Of course, social networks abound, but a dedicated political network has yet to coalesce.
List competitive URLs if possible
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Our network brings tools that allow people to do more than just talk -- they can organize groups, collect vote pledges, schedule major events and send invitations, and even send letters to decision-makers.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Democracy 2.0
