Hey NHR...

Thanks for the submission...

Overall I think it looks pretty cool. I am not normally a fan of just using the letters but you added an edgy flair to which I don't mind. Is there something a little more you can do with the text? It works and I like the simplicity...but just wondering if you have any other ideas?

Also, I like the shape you got going on the "JK" but can it perhaps be a little more organic? or perhaps even a more grunge/ screen print look?

I know I said I prefer landscape but PERHAPS this one could work with the letters on top and something sticking out of the sides. Just for an example imagine it on the top but with a wing like shape....however, I don't see much relevance in wings but hopefully you get my idea......

Having said all that I don't want my ideas to introduce unnecessary busyness since I do appreciate simplicity....

good job..

NHR you are very welcome.. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

SkyV

That looks really nice. It is clean and I like the way the logo could be used as a whole or I could just use "jk" alone in certain situations. Don't get me wrong I really do like it but am wondering if you have any other versions in mind? Unfortunately, I am a little lost for suggestions since this one says all that it needs to say... I guess where I may be not feeling it 100% is it may be bordering a little too closely to high-tech for me. Perhaps it is the orange or maybe it being square? Thanks :)

A quick note for everyone:
Using initials usually seems to be the obvious and probably most appropriate choice especially when we are dealing with peoples names. Like hey... the only other thing you could use for mine is a baby kangaroo at that is totally inappropriate :P... I am not opposed to using the initials but I am also open to a fun shape etc. that may symbolize fun, unity, artistic, life, commitment etc... It doesn't need to be blatantly obvious or sappy either.. and if you can add a funky, unique off the wall twist to it even better.

Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the submissions. However, I like Version 1.0 the best of your series so far.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
Version 2.0 is a little too textured for my likings. Perhaps that is my fault saying grunge/screen print.
<o:p></o:p>
Version 3.0 is interesting but I think it may come across as a little too random to most people.
<o:p></o:p>
Version 4.0 is pretty cool..but I don’t know if it is just me but it feels too left heavy or something.
<o:p></o:p>
You’ve got some great ideas but they don’t quite have me yet.
<o:p></o:p>
Perhaps try playing with version 1.0 some more? Maybe tighten up some of the curves a bit?
<o:p></o:p>
Thanks for all your hard work! And sorry I don't have anymore suggestions at the moment.

Hi Blesseville,

I hit submit and then yours show up..... :)

VER. 1
This is really nice but...However, too elegant for me. I really like the balance of the letters and the shape the edge of the "J" creates but just too fancy the way it is and it just doesn't represent me.

VER. 2
I'm not a huge fan of this one since there is too much going on....also when I look at the black version some of the white detail becomes a little fuzzy. Since I will be using this on my website this would bother me.

I like your first one much better..which is great!.... No offense intended you did a great job just not exactly the atmosphere that represents me!

Thanks for submitting...

VER. 3

Hi again Blesseville,

Much more fitting for me....

However, I don't know if I have been looking at too many logos today or what??....

Good job on revising it with a more "modern" look! However, it is a little too happy for me... I think it may be the blue and perhaps the shape I dunno? Just reminds me a little more of a hotel or airline. It is clean and professional looking.. I like the way you handled the text. But just too happy.. I don't want depressing but would like a little more of an edge whether it be a little more artsy or "tougher" looking.

hope that makes sense and I appreciate the effort! :)

v5... :)

Hello again Giant... Sorry if I used your "wrong name"

I am liking Version 5.0

I like how it has what appears to be the same shapes to form my initials.

I left some earlier comments you can read but after looking at it more I am wondering if you can play with it a little bit.

The reason being it very slightly reminds me of two fetus' yes I know it sounds crazy:eek: but I really like the funky twist it has. I like the angled edges too... Is there anyway you could keep it similiar but perhaps hint at it being more floral? I am ok with a funky flowery look as long as they have a masculine flair to it... and in reality I am shooting weddings..;)

Perhaps I am asking too much and complicating a simple design.... but just thought I'd see.

Also if you could play around with it inside a box to the left of the text as well....but use your best judgment since you are the expert.

I have had a closer look at Ver.1 as well and is there anyway you could balance it out a little more? Not that it isn't balanced but when I cover the text it looks a little heavy on the right.

Thanks

Hi BlueCherryGraphics,

I really like the way you handled the grunge here and I do like the shape but I am starting to see "JR" a little more than "JK". Perhaps it is just me??? and perhaps making the "K" more obvious may destroy the consistency and appeal of the design???...but just wondering if you have any ideas that could work? (I also left some earlier comments as well)

Thanks and good work!

Hello, simple, modern, representative of the initial K

joeyk
04-24-2008, 09:05 AM
Hello NHR,

You are going to think I am one of the pickiest people in the world and I am ;)... I am not 100% on Ver. 1.1 or 1.2.

I like the colours in 1.2 better.

Perhaps I wasn't entirely clear earlier when I mentioned to tighten it up a bit. I feel that the bottom of the J could be tucked in a little more. When looking at the logo my eyes wander and then rest on the hook at the bottom of the "J" or the ends of the "K" .. I would like it to have elements that always draw my eye back into the center.

As it is now it kind of looks like a paint squirt as opposed to a smooth flowing shape. The hook on the end tapers skinny, then fat, then skinny again... I personally prefer it to look like it is part of the shape and not a separate piece stuck on the end with a smooth tape from "fat to skinny"

However, I am not entirely feeling it the way it is but if you tried something else with a similar feel, made it more flowy and avoided any hard edges. The only part of the logo that goes into an extreme curve is the hook and after looking at it further it seems somewhat inconsistent with the rest of the elements....

I think the texture would look a little nicer on something a little more fatter.

I hope I am allowed to link here but a sample of a grunge look I like:

http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/2471393/2/istockphoto_2471393_grunge_graffiti_logos.jpg

Sorry about that I just don't want to waste your time with continuing to revise something that I am not 100% with yet... good luck and hope this makes sense!

Hi Tini1,

I like the simplicity, I like the open atmosphere.. The only thing for me is I don't see the "K" as being obvious enough....and because of that I can see people frequently asking me what it means.. to be honest with the medical green and the pill shapes it may send the wrong message by looking more health care related.

However, I would be interested in seeing what else you could come up with that has this same modern, simplicity but perhaps not so "simple" (but I do like simple as well ;))...
Also if you haven't read it already but my replies have painted a pretty good picture of what I am looking for... but I would be interested to see your take as well since I am always open to new ideas...:)

VER 1

i like the impact it has but overall the shape, contrast and colour looks a little outdated for me. Nice job but just not quite there. Thanks. :)

Offbeat

VER 5

I am not a big fan of vertically stretched letters but I do like how more emphasis is on my name as opposed to the word photography.

VER 6

I really like this idea! :) almost like it is being framed by a camera or whatever... However, what does it look like with a little less thickness on the outside "[ ]"? Although I do like it but just curious...

I like VER 3 better than VER 4 & 2

Offbeat

VER 12 I like the angle. However I like VER 13 better with no angle and the text that way.

VER 14
I like it. However reminds me a bit too much of an airline logo and it looks a little fuzzy when shrunk down.... I like the idea but just not there yet for me.

Thanks everyone and good work!

VER. 3

Thanks for the submission. However, this doesn't work for me too much. It is too skinny and while I understand that it uses my initial like many of the others it is just too much emphasis on my initials for me...

VER 2.2

VER 5.2

VER 7
Thanks for the revision... However I don't want to waste your time spinning your wheels on this concept.... it's just not working for me 100%. I like the idea but just a tad too "jelly bean like" for me... Nice logo just not for me. Thanks though :)

VER 6.1 6.2

Looks wonderful!.... I overlooked this one a little at first due to the colour and it not entirely being what I initially had in mind. However, after reviewing the logos over the past few days I have come to appreciate it a fair amount... It is still my initials and if people don't see that right away (or never) it doesn't matter.... they will probably just think it is photos or picture frames.. I really like how it has that dual purpose...the initials are subtle and a pleasant surprise when noticed ... Thanks for the revisions!
