Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

-Skin Sister

What type of product or service do you offer?

-Australian made natural mineral make-up eventually branching out to body products.

How long have you been in business?

-This is a new business.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

-My partner and I would like a modern, funky and sophisticated feel to our branding. A young edge (we are targeting women who regularly attend beauty salons, cosmetic clinics are and interested in beauty and health – not too young as in teenage but more 20s to 50s)A lot of our competitors are strictly clinical. We need to be stylish but with a funky edge. This is a natural totally Australian made product. It is a mineral based make-up it will be sold Australia wide to Cosmetic surgeons and beauty therapists.

What are your long term goals?

-The long term goal is to maintain accounts with beauty salons, clinics and then possibly branch out to department stores, concept stores and then onto an International arena.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

-The deadline is for 9th May

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience

-Our main consumers will be professional women who are interested in the appearance and health of the skin. Cosmetic surgeons, nurses from the cosmetic industry, aestheticians, and beauty therapists will re-sell our product onto the public. Therefore the branding or identity will appeal to the scientifically minded retailer/skin professional and savvy consumer, with this branding they will be able to on sell our make-up with confidence.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

-Initially to the public through professional skin care out-lets and then online and, throughout department stores to everyone.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

-We would like a brand that is easily recognizable, original, funky but with a natural sophisticated feel. Earthy meets scientific meets contemporary. The logo will look good in the medical arena as if it was a prescribed by the medical profession.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

-Silver or holographic type perhaps with white background although this may be hard to see feel free to experiment with colour, we love holographic so perhaps a nice turquoise. Kind of clinical looking but modern and smart at the same time. The individual product packaging itself is silver and translucent (see jpg) so the sticker with the logo and details will be attached to the lids and sides of the packaging. They will come in boxes.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

-No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

-Professional! this product is endorsed by professionals myself a registered nurse and my partner a para-medical aesthetician.

What is your tagline or slogan?

-Skin Sister – revolutionary mineral make up

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

-That skin sister is the best mineral make up! Australian made and owned, exciting, sassy and effective. Scientifically sound, preservative and chemical free and good for the skin! People who are concerned about using a pure clean product on their skin will choose us. They have sought advice about their skin and require an accompaniment to all of their facial products and treatments.

Where will your new logo be used?

Packaging (boxes and make-up containers)
Website
Brochures
Product Booklets
Banners, posters, A-frames

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

Who we LOVE:
Sirciut - there branding is simple, smart modern and professional looking.

Synergieminerals - Not too bad.
Mineralogics - could be more modern and slick looking. Boring.
Inika - To simple and not clinical or professional looking enough. Looks like its from the 80’s.
Musqu - This makeup is a branch off the salon, not professional looking enough. The vintage look is overdone.
Minerale - nice fresh young looking. Although needs a more professional look.
Mineralogie – modern funky, earthy. Cannot look too similar. Stay away from browns, animal motive’s etc.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?

-Skin Sister is totally Australia made and owned. Most other mineral make up companies look boring! We need instant visual appeal. The complete package for the retailer, product, brochures, stands etc. Medical grade professional product retailers can sell with confidence.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

-Revolutionary make up that is good for your skin!

Okay, lets try something other than swirls. It was only a suggestion.

Xpressions is pretty much on the mark, Im asking my partner today to see what she thinks. The design has to also fit on circular lids, pencils and sides of jars. So the shape of the design would be a consideration.

Thank you all for your hard work! I will post as soon as I consult with my partner.

Hi.

I have spoken to my partner, we are still stuck on the first design from xpressions. But, it may be hard to transpose this design to jar lids and pencils etc. The shape of the last design is what we are looking for in as far as fitting it within the borders of make-up branding on containers.

Giant we love this design but we agree that the little capsule shaped brand may have to be altered, perhaps more angular.

Xpressions, I would like to see you change your first design to incorporate the pattern within the words. Perhaps in-between the skin sister.

Thank you again
Sharon

HI Guys,

Thank you so much for your revisions with your work.

Xpressions- would we be able to change the oblong shape with the swirls so it lays horizontally with the text. We have concerns that the original design will not fit onto jars, pencils etc. (we like this design)

Giant- Perhaps if you may be able to make the pattern in the middle into an actual capsule form. I would like to have a look to see what this looks like.

Thank you again for all of your hard work. I really appreciate it, hopefully the whole process will not be drawn out any further.

Hi,

Thank you for more choices, we love version 1 of offbeat design. However we would like to try a bolder font on the 'skin' part of skin sister. We would also like to try different colour combinations. ie dark red or something that is bolder.

Im so sorry that I am asking for the revisions all the time it is quite difficult to converse with my partner and get back to you.

thank you for all of your hard work and time!!

Thanks off beat- we are keen on the raindrop.

My printer has advised me that red's bleed. Lets try some turquoise shades.

Thank you :)

No problem. Reds are not regularly an issue. What kind of printing are you looking to do?

Offbeat,

We love the rain drop design. We cannot decide about the boldness of the font or the colour.

I will just take the one above.

Thanks Sharon
