I need a logo for my high performance catamaran, a Hobie Tiger named "Fear Itself". (As in "we have nothing to fear but fear itself"). There will also be an associated web site.
A limitation is that the logo will be painted on the hulls which constrains its shape. For photos of this model of catamaran, please see:
Hobie Tiger (http://www.hobiecat.com/sailing/models_tiger.html)
To show the existing colours, I attach a picture of my boat: white hulls, black mainsail plus yellow jib and spinaker.
The logo should be in keeping with the style of the boat and the existing hull graphics. However, for an exceptional design, I would remove the original hull graphics.
Thanks!

The final result:
Do you have the specific measurements for where the artwork would be placed?

I have avoided giving specific measurements because there are several choices of various sizes and I can probably work with the painter to find the right place.
Some ideas (max width x max height):
5m x 0.3m on the side of the hull above the waterline with existing graphics (partially?) stripped off. For cost and resale reasons, I would only go for this for the most exceptional logo.
1m x 0.3m on the inside of the hulls forward, but viewing would be restricted.
1m x 0.25m on the outside of the hulls, with the existing graphics ( *preferred* )
2m x 1.25m on the sail. This would be a design on a smoke background (see image)

Hi! Take a look at my entry below:

Very cool, Tragu, and I like it. It would be a great website logo - which I know is the usual purpose here - but I'm not sure it needs the stylised boat when it's on the boat...
It would also be easier to fit it on the boat if it were landscape not portrait oriented.
This is perhaps the style I'm looking for: No Fear stare (http://store.nofear.com/enlarge.cfm?pid=423)

hi Steve,
I'm sorry but this is all I can think of right now... waiting for your feedback

Don't be sorry - that's pretty close!
Scarier eyes, less mask-like and black+yellow and we might be there.

Actually the contest holder suggested the "eyes" so it is open to all.

Thanks dynagirl - cool. Is a stylised tiger possible instead of the shark?
2square: Could I have the text slightly further below the eyes and the eyes with yellow irises?
Thanks,
Steve

I'll give it a shot. In the meantime, here's my take on the eyes concept:

I haven't come up with a tiger design yet, but here's something else.

We have a winnner with Dynagirl's last post. Great!
Many thanks to those who posted entries, especially 2square for the on-boat demo.

Congrats Tonya
Thanks Steve for the feedback and if I had the time I would have given Dynagirl a run for her money :D
