AOL in their attempt to protect their users from spam, have placed a block on any mail from a large block of IP addresses. Even though the host we are with does not tolerate nor allow spam, we have been unfairly included in this blanket of IP addresses that are blocked.
What this means to you is if you have an AOL email address you will not be notified of new posts or private messages. In addition, if you send a private message or email to someone with an AOL address it (the notification of a private message or the email) will not go through.
So you would guess that if you simply change your email address from "My Controls" this will fix the problem... not true. When you change your email address the forum send a notification to your email address for you to verify the change. Well... you're not going to get that notification :(
Our host is working very hard to get this fixed and have the block removed. Unfortunatle there is nothing we can do short of changing hosts (which we aren't going to do) that will solve the problem. If you are using AOL, you may want to contact them and see if there is a way you can change your email settings to allow email from this site.
We're very sorry for the hassle they are putting us through.
Explanation from our host...
We've contacted AOL regarding this and they are looking into it. Our servers do not send spam, so it might be a larger IP block (not run by us is listed and we got penalized).
